Huo Ying Yue has always had a laid back approach to life. She never let anything affect her. She cruised through life, not acknowledging the hard parts of her life, or the curve balls fate threw at her. She would rather bury her head in the sand or run away, than face them head on. But when her grandfather falls ill, she has to return. Return to the town that holds so many nightmares, return to confront the people who hurt her. But this time, she was figuring out that she was not as alone as she thought she was. She even had a private army behind her, thanks to her getting drunk and sleeping with the same person again and again.

The strings of life

" Interesting." Said Ying Yue as looked at her aunt entertaining Tara. She knew her aunt was capable of being funny and entertaining, but in all the twenty six years she has lived, she has never seen it. Watching her being charming to Tara was eye opening. Tara behaving herself was even more astounding.


" It is. Somehow at the same time it feels like two tigresses circling around each other." Yawen whispered to her.


After Madam Huo made an appearance, everyone shifted to the dining room, and were waiting for Elder Huo to make an appearance so that they could have dinner. Ying Yue was seated with Yawen on one side and JianLong on the other side. Opposite to them were Tara, Madam Huo and Huo JinYoung. Huo JinYoung had joined them a little while ago, he was happy to have the house lively again.


" When is the party again?" Asked Tara.


" This weekend. I know you came here for your research, but you should definitely come." Said Madam Huo. She seemed to be glowing from the inside. Ying Yue felt a little guilty looking at her. Maybe she should have written away her shares earlier. She could understand her and even sympathise with her. She sighed internally, she loved her grandfather, but he sure knew how to complicate everything.


And talk of the party made her sneer a little. Ying Yue was not good with crowds. Sure, if she was with the people she already was acquainted with, it would not be a problem, but a party in which she would be the centre of attraction and have to make small talk with a lot of people, made her want to run away. Again.


Yawen and Jiao Long snickered on her side sharing a knowing look, guessing what was going on her mind. They have been through a lot of parties where they felt like they were a piece of meat being appraised by prospective buyers, Ying Yue has been spared all these years, but she was going to be subjected to an awful lot in one night. They gloated just thinking about the annoyed look she will be displaying the entire night. Sure, the five of them will be there to keep an eye on her, but they will be doing that from afar, not interfering the free show.


" I will definitely be here Aunty. Don't worry. I was thinking … will there be eligible ladies there as well?" Asked Tara with a smirk.


" Yes. Ofcourse. This is not an exclusive matchmaking party. It is more like YingYue's introduction to the society." Said Madam Huo with a similar smirk, which  caused shivers to travel down the spine of the two younger males in the dining room. They could sense that something was being planned by Madam Huo. 


" That is wonderful Aunty, in that case, there is no way that I could miss the party." Tara said with a smile.


" When will Grandpa Huo be back? Where has he gone anyway? I called Uncle Yin, but he didn't pick up my call. That was like an hour back." Asked Ying Yue, hoping one of her relatives would know about his whereabouts.


" He has gone to visit one of his friends. Apparently the friend has come to the country, after a long time." JianLong replied.


" Oh. Someone who has not been in the country for a while… should be Grandpa Lee." Ying Yue guessed.


JianLong shrugged. Unlike Ying Yue, he was not aware of all of their grandfather's friends.


" Then why did Uncle Yin not accept my call?" Asked Ying Yue puzzled.


" I don't thing it is Elder Lee, YingYue. He knows how much you adore him, he would have taken you with him for the visit if it had been him. I think it is someone else." Huo JinYoung disagreed with Ying Yue.


Ying Yue tilted her head. Someone who has not been in the country for a while? She wondered who it could be.
