Hear the birds chirping, see the view of the sun slowly rising, and feel the fresh air with the morning dew. You could say that this day starts in a pleasuring way.
"Achoo!"
Well, in an almost pleasuring way. You see, I woke up really early to train and immediately head for the castle.
What am I doing here you ask? I'm here to wait for Ingrid.
It's the day before school. I was offered a job by the Queen to become Ingrid's bodyguard.
"Ah. Trent Faer, requesting for enter."
"Got it."
The guard opens the gate, and it led me in front of the castle. Even though I've seen it last time, my eyes could feast on this view again. The wonderful view of the concrete wall of the castle slowly being illuminated by the rising sun and the beautiful flowers in the garden.
I slowly walked passed through the passageway while looking at the flower. It really is pleasing to the eyes.
"Huh?"
A familiar sound. There--and there it is again. Intrigued by the sound, I slowly walked up to where the sounds are coming from.
I slowly approach, and the sounds became even more clearer. It was a familiar sound. The sound of a mana bullet leaving a barrel. There's no mistaking it, it's Princess Ingrid and her rifle.
A figure of a kneeling girl caught my eyes. She was aiming at three different dummies.
She draws her gun, and pushed the lever. A mana bullet came flying directly at the dummy, and made a hole on it's head. The second one, it flew and also went through it. The third one came. I assume that it's the last one. She pushed the lever down, and the bullet this time is relatively slower and smaller.
It made an impact, but it did lesser damage compared to the last two.
"* Sigh * This always happens. I shoot three bullets. The first two is fine but when it comes to the third one, it would always flop," she muttered to her self.
"Uh, Princess. May I be of any assistance?"
"Huh?"
When she saw my face, she flinched a bit. She was covered in sweat, you could say from training.
"Go-go on..."
I feel like she's in a awkward state. We barely knew each other but I can't just watch and not help.
"Princess, here's the problem: you're only focusing on your mana output. Your mana input is kind of unequally divided among the bullets. You see, the first two bullets were fine, but when it came for the third one, the amount of mana is lesser which leads to a poorer acceleration and less dense mana composition. The main problem is when you fire bullets, you immediately fill the bullets' maximum mana capacity, resulting in a strong shot but waste in mana."
"Hmm."
I looked at her after explaining things, and she looked like a child in elementary suddenly took a college student's exam.
"B-by what I mean is that, mana is unequally divided among the bullets. You instantly fill the mana capacity of the earlier bullets resulting in a low amount of mana for the third one."
"So you're telling me that maximizing the mana capacity of each bullet is unnecessary?"
"Yes, pretty much so."
"I see, but how about the firepower?"
"I think it lies with the magic circle you're using at the front end of the rifle."
"I see. Let's try this again."
She kneels down again, and was ready for another shot.
She points she rifle, and started chanting something. Earlier, the magic circle is smaller and it was gray in color. This time she makes a larger circle and is red in color.
"A Wizard level of magic circle..."
Now, magic circles have power levels, five power levels. The first one is the Magician level which is Gray in color, the second is the Wizard level which is Red in color, the third is the Sage level which is Blue in color, the fourth on is the Conjurer level which is Golden in color and the last one is the Caster Level which is Purple in color.
She loads her rifle and prepared another round of bullets. She puts her finger on the lever and triggers it.
She did listened to me. It flew faster, and by the looks of it, she didn't filled the bullets this time. The three bullets succeeded in hitting the dummies consecutively. All bullets had strong firepower.
Seeing as it is, I couldn't help but smile. She immediately understood the simple principle.
"Now then, what brings you here?"
"Ah yes. I'm now your bodyguard. I'll be helping moving your things to the school dorm."
"I see. I'll be inside. Come, you can stay in the living room."
'Y-yes!"
She starts packing and we entered the castle.
"Stay here."
"Y-yes."
"Oh my. If it isn't Trent. Mind if we chat for a bit?"
We entered the castle, and I saw Queen Elizabeth drinking her tea.
****
I sat down in front of the Queen. The last time that I had the chance to talk to her was when we first arrived here. The atmosphere then was different from now. I mean, I'm alone with the Queen herself.
"I was told that you did so well during the exam. Ingrid said you were the reason that you all finished the final exam."
"Ah. It wasn't only me. Everyone there did their best."
"I see, but I heard that you were the only who had the courage the jump on top of the golem and finish it. A good job, I should say."
"Y-you overestimate me my Queen."
She continues to drink her tea.
"Trent, about being the bodyguard of Ingrid. Please take good care of her for the next three years."
"You can count on me. I'll never let her be hurt."
"That's a relief. Trent, I know that you're strong, make sure that she's safe. Oh yeah, about the student dorm she's staying in, always guide her in returning after school."
"Yes."
We chatted a little longer when Ingrid entered the living room.
"Mother, I'm ready to go."
"Is that so? Well then, I should see you off."
We stood from our seats, and went outside, where a carriage welcomed us.
"Sebastian."
"Yes, my Queen?"
"Are all of her things arranged already?"
"Yes. Some of her things were already sent to the dorm."
"Is that so? I don't have to worry then. You two, have fun learning."
Sebastian served as our coachman. He whipped the horses, and we started moving.
****
We passed by the school entrance, and went further along the way further ahead of us. The carriage took a turn and ended up in a gate to which appears to be the entrance to the dorm buildings. The two of us got out the carriage and saw Sebastian off.
We passed the gate and two buildings welcomed us. Big signs were written on the two buildings. It said: IA building and IIA building.
"Princess, may I ask which of these two are you?"
"Me? IA 206."
"IA? Then this building to the left then."
"How about you?"
"I don't know. I think it's written on this piece of paper, but I'll just escort you first before going to mine."
We enter the building, and we got stares from everyone inside the lobby.
To my surprise, everyone there was a girl.
"Hey, hey. It's princess Ingrid."
"She's the real thing."
"Ah. She's beautiful."
"That beautiful white hair is lovely. Wait, who's with her?"
The moment we entered, there were whispering from every direction possible.
"Isn't he the guy from the exams?"
"Yeah, you're right..."
"I heard he finished off the golem..."
"Isn't he kind of cute..."
"Yeah, you're right..."
* mutter * mutter * mutter *
I ignored all of it and we ended up in the second floor. Now that I think about it, i think this the girls' dorm. I did not see any male around.
"I think it's here. 206."
"Now then Princess, I'll be on my way. May I go?"
"Thank you very much. Well then, let's see..."
I took out the piece of paper and looked at the place where I would be staying.
"Ahh...!"
I was stunned.
"R-Room IA 205!?"
I screamed. I swear that scream was loud. All the girls walking around stopped for a moment to look to where the high pitched scream was from.
****
DOOR TAG: FACULTY
I slowly opened the door.
"G-Good morning."
"What is it kid?" a teacher said.
"I'd like to ask a question to the one who's in charge for the dorm system."
"That would be me. You got any problem with it?"
A teacher from all the way back spoke. I went closer to where the voice came from. It was a red-haired woman with eyeglasses.
"What is it you want to talk about?"
"Uhm... It's about where I'm assigned at."
"Why? You want to request a transfer?"
"Yes, pretty much so."
"Sorry kid, there can be no alterations. Why, why is it?"
"Uhm. My room is in the girls' dorm."
"Oh, you're that kid. So you want to move to other rooms."
I nod my head yes.
"Sorry, but it was intended for you to be there. The Queen's orders."
Her's?
* sigh *
I don't know the why that is, but I find this ridiculous.
"Why!?"
"Sorry kid, I, myself, wanr to change it myself, but I don't have the power right now. Besides, aren't you grateful that your room is surrounded by all girls?"
"N-No!? * sigh * Thank you, teacher. I'll be on my way.
****
Trent holds the handle, and greet the teachers for the last time before leaving.
"So it was him."
"I didn't got any vibes from him."
"Seriously!? That was the top achiever in the entrance exam?"
All the teachers were gossiping on how skeptical they are regarding the boy.
"Merlin, is it true? He casted mana dome, really? And he can also use Integrated Spells?"
"He is. I was surprised at first when he used mana dome, but it became more unbelievable when I asked them to destroy the dummies, he destroyed it with a variation of an advanced spell. You people could've seen him doing things kids at their age normally can't do."
****
I returned inside the dorm, and was ready to enter my own room. I, again, had stares directed at me. It was weird that a male is walking around in a place where girls are.
I was ready. I had my hands on the doorknob. I opened it, and a view of a spacious room is in front of me. Two beds were positioned in the parallel sides of the room.
Wait. Two beds? Why would I use two beds?... And there where it struck me. A view of a half-naked girl who is wrapped in cloth
She had short white-hair , and was about the height of my shoulders.
She saw me come in, and the pupils in her eyes went big. With that surprised look, she screamed.
"KYAAH!!"
