A glimpse of the past.
"OK.. It's getting late. I'll send you home now sweetie." Miko offers.
"No Miko stay here. Stop going out with him more often. Nick, call Josh to send Mae Mae home."
"Got it.."
After a lots of reminders she's finally on her way home with Josh as her driver. While her two big babies are at the back and the little one is on her lap.
"I see little Mae.. You have a new baby there. It's too tiny." Josh started their conversation.
"Uhm.. Her name is Fummie. It's sad that she's the only one I can bring tomorrow. I will miss those two." she pout.
"It's OK.. You will stay there for just two weeks. I'll take care of them personally for you." Josh patted her head. His focus is on the road.
"I'm sorry if even you got scolded because of me. I owe you that day for helping me and yet this is what you got." She looked at the window while her hand is ruffling Fummie's fur. It's raining so hard outside. She looked up the dark sky like she's looking for something.
"It's nothing.. I already know that brother of yours. He's just so worried about you little Mae. I've been with him since we were still kids and when he decided to take over the Saotori Empire after two years of gone missing. I really know him well."
"Say.. Josh? For you what is love?" She feels so down now. What Mako said is still in her mind. Keep on repeating. Ever since Noah show himself again, she became restless and pain.
"Are you bothered that he's already come back?" Josh asked instead. Yui didn't answer so Josh continued. "For me.. Love is the strongest feelings you can't let go even if it's really killing you."
Still..Yui didn't answer. Josh focused himself on driving. She's like this when she's hurt or in pain. Always quite and try to keep it just to herself. Josh found Yui long before her brother do. If how? He doesn know either. All his just wants is to save the kid that very dear in his heart. He's the one who helps her escape from the hand of those psycho enemies. That's also the first time his hand is stained with blood. Yes.. He killed them all for her sake. But, he lost her again and didn't find where she went after he's gone dealing with those men. He tried to find her again but always failed. The next time he saw her is when Jake finally found her.
He somehow knew this side of her. They're still investigating what happened back then when her brothers lost her when she was just two years old. Who took her away, and what's the cause why she doesn have memories when she was six years old and below.
The reason Yui didn't wear shorts is a long scar on her right leg. It's like a cut. It's not that visible now thanks to Kenji's family who send her to a great doctor to have it covers through surgery. When they saw the photos of her real wound they all terrified. It's a nasty cut.. Big, deep and a long cut. Her brothers become agitated when they saw it. They can't imagine how their sister managed to survive before the Sato took her. It was dark when he saves her, and he didn't see those wounds and cuts on her.
When her husband left her. That somewhat trigger something related on her forgotten past. Every night, she's having a nightmare. Keep on screaming even when she's awake and alone she will suddenly scream and run off. She keeps on calling her brothers pet name in the corner asking for help like she's being hurt by someone. Whenever they try to come closer to her in that stage she just more agitated ended up hurting herself like she just rather kill herself than being touched by them. She even dare to commit suicide. Good thing an old lady help them. She called her Nana.
When they are all desperate and don't know what to do with her, Kenji bring the old lady. Only Nana can make her calm every time she's in that state. Soon enough they found out. It was Nana who took her and treated her wound. Nana also show them her picture when she first took Yui at the abandoned school unconscious. If what Kenji saw to them is terrifying, that photo is beyond explainable than that. She's covered with blood and wounds. At a young age she's really suffered too much this life can give.
Josh take a deep breath to erase those memories. He reaches Yui's head and pat it.
"Cheer up little Mae.. Everything will be alright.. Oh I remember .. It's almost your birthday.. Want me to tell you a secret why Jake suddenly sent you away?"
"Huh? Is it because that's my punishment?" Yui looks at Josh with questioning eyes.
"Oh... You really think that's the real reason? Let me ask you.. When is the first and last time, your brothers punished you? Aside from Kenji of course." Josh know how Kenji give her punishment whenever she did naughty things.
"Uhm... They put leashes on my babies just to hold me.. They also barged in my house without permission. Give me a driver to spy on me.. Uhm what else.. Oh they also send me vegetables to eat every day."
"Eh.. Is that a punishment for you Little Mae?"
"Uhm.. Uhmm" she nods.
"Then what do you call on Kenji's punishment then?"
"It's a Turture.. No it's a death sentence!!" Yui laughed when she saw Josh face. He's right her Biological brothers didn't give her any punishment it's more favor to her instead. Unlike Kenji who make her run and ask her to do some physical workouts as her punishment.
" What do you think those OA brothers of mine will do this time?" Last year the theme of her birthday is stuffed animals party. The kids in the orphanage enjoy it a lot.
"Nah.. You'll find out soon. I think they will try different things this time. You're not young anymore anyway."
"Hey Josh.. You're the same age as my brother Jake right? You two are childhood buddies."
"Yeah.. Something the matter?"
"I'm just curious. Big brother is already married to Hannah for 6 years now. How about you? I didn't hear anything about your Lovelife."
"Huh.. As far as I remember we're talking about your birthday how come it's all about my private life now?"
"Oh.. C'mon I want to know about your love life." She gave him a puppy eye look.
Josh take a deep breath first. "I've been betrothed at the age of 12."
"Really?!!!.. An arranged marriage?"
"Sort of.. The parents of that girl is asked me to be the groom of their daughter who. Didn't even born yet. Or rather don't even know they will have her.. When I turned eleven the couple found out that they are having a baby girl finally.. And when the time she was born her parents engaged us to marry when she turned eighteen. But unexpected things happened. I lost her and her family."
"Eh..where did they go?"
"It's a tragic long story to tell".
"Did you ever tried to look for her?"
"I did.. I saw her after two years when her family is gone missing when she was just two years old. But, I lost her again on that same day. And when I finally met her again I'm already too late to claim her as mine."
"But why?" Yui suddenly feels sorry for him.
"She's already married."
"Huh?.. But she's your fiancé right? I mean if you talked to her she might remember you at least. Is she happy now?"
"When I saw her.. After the last time, I met her she's not married yet but soon to be. I want to introduce myself to her as her husband to be. But when I saw how happy she is with her new fiancé I retreat."
"You idiot.. You have a chance back there!!! Why didn't you take that opportunity!!!"
"Because I realized I can't give her happiness."
"How can you say that?"
"There is this darkness in me that I don't want her to know nor to get her involved. I want her to have a pure happiness with a clean and worry free life. Keeping her with me is like I imprisoned her in never-ending darkness."
