What is this book about?

Hello all, my name is Zulfiqar. I am a full time college student studying under psychiatry and human anatomy. I have always take an interest in people, though I am very shy. below I have outlined what this story will contain:

In this story, the main character is Joseph Newlin. He suffers from Dissociative identity disorder (DID), also known as multiple personality disorder (MPD). This is a mental disorder in which an individual has at least two separate personalities that usually come with memory gaps. In real life, it is incredibly rare. Most cases come from intense trauma suffered in the past. Often the other personalities manifest as ways to cope with whatever burden people may have. Although it is rare, in the few cases that have been proven as real, this disorder is incredibly diverse. A persons separate personalities can span any age, gender, and traits. Some even experience physical differences such as one needing glasses to the other not needing them. These physical differences can be recorded and compared. In most cases, the base personality (the true identity) is aware of their condition and often has "met" the other personalities. It really is fascinating. The extents of the human mind and body never cease to amaze me.
