Aiden had trouble leaving the slum, but fortunately, he was not far from the exit.
He found himself in the middle of a bustling part of the city. Guards were patrolling the area, kids playfully running around, and even players interacting with their environment. He could tell that some of them were new players since they acted like tourists.
Since the Well Cloud Kingdom was a beginner zone, there was always a flock of new players appearing every day.
He was so short compared to the adults that it was hard for him to find his destination through the crowds.
Suddenly, a young girl and a man appeared behind him.
"Hey, there boy? Is everything alright..." The young woman kneeled down to his level and then said. "Do you need any help?"
She saw a young skinny boy who wore something that barely resembled clothing and felt worried.
His feet covered in mud, and dirt on his face. The girl wanted to cry, but she held it in.
'I forgot how new players easily pitied poor NPCs, especially children.' Aiden read studies about players who meet NPCs for the first time in which they would feel pity for them. It was because NPCs appearance was no different to themselves except for a few aspects.
"I'm sorry ma'am. My parents died, and I am forced to live in the slum. Every day I work hard, but my boss only gives me a copper coin. A copper coin to only buy a stale bread they picked from the ground." Aiden said tearfully with his purple eyes. Since they think he was an NPC, he might as well use it as his advantage.
"Oh my gosh! I am sorry to hear that." She lost control of her emotions and hugged him with full force with crying. "Just ask me anything if you need help. My name is Manon PureChainLighter."
In the world of Verse-Way, players have two names. One was a more realistic name, and the second was their avatar name. It became this way naturally since it sounded awkward calling someone by their avatar name all the time.
"Can you help me find some items, Miss PureChainLighter? My brother is very ill, and I will need to bring medicines to him." Aiden lied. Although he had another plan in mind, he decided to improvise and make use of her sympathy.
"You can call me Manon. What do you need?" She said with a warm smile.
"I need a tongue from a forest toad, blood from a red-eyes rabbit, twin-moon flower, and a branch from yellowwood tree. That will be everything needed to save my dear brother, Miss Manon" Just as he finished saying, a screen appeared in front of him that only he could see.

Will you like to add something to compensate for the person who completes your quest?
Yes/No
===
'No' Aiden thought without hesitation. He had nothing to give, so it would not make sense to say yes. Though, he will say yes next time to see what happen.
Although Aiden could not see it, Manon received a quest from Aiden.
"Hey, look. I received a quest!" She said to the man next to her.
"Really? What is the reward?"
"It says there is none."
"Really… Let's just forget it about him and start leveling up." His face turned sour when he heard that.
Ignoring what he said, she decided she would help him. She felt so bad for Aiden that the reward did not even matter to her. She just wanted to do something nice for him. And besides, the items were not too hard for players to obtain.
The two discuss a bit before they had to go.
Aiden waved them goodbye until they disappeared into the crowd.
"That was unexpected. I did not know it was possible to give out a quest to players." From the two years of playing, he never heard any players giving out quest before. It must be because he was now considered an NPC and not a player to the game.
He knew it would come in handy in the near future, but for now, he needed to go somewhere.
"Alright, if I remember correctly, that guild should be nearby." He was not far from his destination. After half of mile of walking through the crowded town, he made it to a building where players come in and out as they please.
However, all these players had something in common. They all wore an armband with the face of a golden deer on it.
"There it is, the Golden Deer Guild. I heard of this place from the game forums, but I never went near here. I can't believe they were able to monopolize a statue class, Avant-garde Caster, all for themselves."
The sole reason he wanted to come to the Golden Deer Guild was for a statue class. Avant-garde Caster, one of the beginner classes in this city.
Compared to the Phantom Beast Summoner, Avant-garde Caster was way weaker. However, Aiden was not foolish enough to try and to become a Phantom Beast Summoner, and because of how weak he was, he might die trying to fulfill its requirements.
And NPCs were known to stay died after they die, unlike players.
Instead, he would strengthen himself with one class before switching to another class.
Although there were stronger beginner classes than the Avant-garde Caster, he knew how to bring out its potential to surpass them. The only problem now was how he was going to get inside the guild. There was a barrier around the building that only allowed guild members to enter.
Seeing Aiden standing there, a person went up to him to ask what he was doing. He had a blonde beard and was wearing silver armor with an armband.
"Hi there, boy? Are you lost?" He knew Aiden was an NPC from his purple eyes. Also, players under eighteen were not of legal age to play the game. So seeing a young boy with purple eyes, he thought for sure he was an NPC without a doubt in his mind.
"Yes, can you help me, mister? I am looking for a dog. Have you seen him?"
"No, I have not."
"I believe he might have run inside that building., but I cannot go inside for some reason."
The man stood there, thinking about what to do regarding what the boy just said.
'It is plausible for a dog to enter the building unnoticed, but then again, it is not likely. The only way for it to enter if someone from the guild carried it in.' The silver armor man felt bad for the poor boy, but he decided he was not going to help him. It was against the rules to let anybody who was not a guild member inside the building.
"I'm sorry, but I'm afr-"
"Please let me search inside just for a minute. I'm sure my dog is in there."

Error!
The quest cannot be created.
Aiden's dog does not exist.

A read message popped up. Aiden took a glance before sighing. As a programmer, he knew very well what that message means.
'It seems that a quest needs to have some way to be completed or else it throws an error saying that it was not beatable.'
Seeing no way to help the boy, the man left to go inside the guild building. He was in a hurry by the looks of it.
Aiden could only watch helplessly as his plan failed utterly.
