Chapter 244: The unbalance power

After Paccia had left the room, seemingly excited to try her experiments with her newly-found 'ingredients', there were only Lachlan and the other shifters left, together with the warlocks. Dewei, however, doesn't seem like he will be going out soon, though as he stood behind his Alpha and the elders, waiting.

Both Jose and Ezekiel looked surprised when they saw the warlocks. They looked like they had aged more since the last time they saw them. Ezekiel glanced at Dewei, who was smiling widely and thought that it must be because of him and Paccia that caused the warlocks to look haggard and tired.

Ignoring the drained look on their faces, Lachlan, without shifting, unleashed his Alpha aura, causing the two warlocks to tremble furiously as foams started to froth in their mouths. An Alpha aura was a unique power, limited only to Alphas. And for those who were weak against the Alpha aura would faint at a mere contact. Even Master Silas, who is a lycan himself, does not have this power.

It was not that it won't affect other shifters but it won't work on those in the same pack as the Alpha. If anyone said that both Ezekiel and Jose did not have any effect from the aura, they would think twice once they see sweat dripping down their calm faces. They did not want to show any weaknesses in front of others, especially in front of the warlocks.

Master Silas cocked an eyebrow in surprise as he felt the power emitted from Lachlan's Alpha aura. 'Not bad,' he mused inwardly, his eyes showing a glint of respect and admiration. 'As expected of my Prince's 'father'.'

"Tell me. Who put you up to this?" Lachlan ordered, his eyes on one of the warlocks.

The warlock was still feeling a bit delirious from the aura that surged in his mind. It was hard for him to keep a sane mind, much less answer the shifter's question.

Lachlan frowned and glanced over at Dewei.

Dewei quickly understood what his Alpha wanted as he quickly stepped forward. He then hunched down, grabbing his backpack. He took out several 'toys' from inside and placed them around him. He looked at each of them with an excited anticipation on his face. After much scrutiny on each of his 'toys', he decided on a small rounded device that looked like an ordinary disc or like a frisbee. However if one was to look closely at it, they could see that there were sparks discharging from the object.

Ezekiel, who was near to Dewei, could even feel the sparks from where he stood. And it felt a bit painful, something like when someone was pinching you. He frowned, looking at the device in Dewei's hand.

And before he could ask what the thing was, the other shifter had placed it underneath the warlock's feet and soon after, everyone in the room could hear a huge sound of fizz coming from the round gadget. And the warlock, who had been feeling unhinged, suddenly had his eyes wide open. And a scream came out from his mouth.

The other warlock, who was in the same condition as he was, was shocked into consciousness. He trembled even more when he saw, from the corner of his eyes, how his fellow warlock was 'woken up'.

Seeing that the warlock became even more frenzied, Lachlan inwardly let out a sigh. Seems like it was a wrong idea to order Dewei to help. The Alpha then turned to the other warlock, who was still furiously quivering. He cocked an eyebrow. At least, this one is awake.

He turned his attention to him and asked him the same question as before.

The warlock shook his head vehemently. Although he was scared of the shifters in front of him, he was even more afraid of Master Harding. Hence why he was still stubborn, not wanting to answer Lachlan's question.

After much 'threats' and more questioning from Lachlan and the other shifters, the warlock surprisingly held his ground, his lips tight shut.

Master Silas, who had been watching from the sidelines, finally had enough. Annoyance filled his face as he crossed his arms across his chest, leaning against the wall. At first, he did not want to be involved in the questioning, thinking that it was their pack business.

Then he stopped thinking and eventually, he remembered something. He was part of the Kendall pack! Of course it was his pack business and he has every right to be involved.

Erick, who had been standing next to him, was surprised when he saw Master Silas move away from the wall and started to approach the warlock.

Disregarding the Alpha and the other shifters, Master Silas continued to walk past them and soon, he was standing in front of the unyielding warlock.

And before Lachlan and the others could ask what he was doing, Master Silas had grabbed the warlock by the jaw in one hand. He squeezed it tight, his nails digging deep in the warlock's flesh. Blood could be seen dripping out from the wound made by Master Silas' nails. The latter then opened his hand wide, without releasing the warlock's jaw.

Although the others could not see what he was doing, one of his fingernails poked through the warlock's flesh and into his veins. The warlock's eyes widened in fear, not knowing what the lycan was doing.

He did not have the time to calm his mind when Master Silas finally released his jaw and turned to Lachlan. "Ask him again."

Lachlan frowned. But he did what the lycan had told him. "Who was behind all this?" he asked again.

"Master Harding," came the answer.

Not only Lachlan and the other shifters were surprised with the warlock's quick reply, even he himself was surprised. Why on earth did he answer truthfully?

Lachlan turned to Master Silas, who nonchalantly shrugged. "I can make people tell the truth," he said.

Lachlan turned back to the warlock and continued his questioning.

Everytime the warlock answers, the shifters' faces turn grim. According to the former, Harding was indeed alive. And becoming stronger than before. Apparently, the laboratory that they saw at the den was one of their experiment rooms where they were planning to mix the bloods of different supernatural beings. By combining their strengths and features, they planned to create a potion that enables a person to receive more than 200% of their current power. Although they haven't been a success, they were close to it.

And recently, they have captured a powerful supernatural being. It was unsure what species it was as only the top people knew about it but they were sure that it would be very dangerous and strong. It might even disturb the balance of powers between the supernatural beings here, which was bad news for the shifters present there.

Master Silas frowned as he listened to the warlock's words. And without anyone noticing, he left the room quietly.
