chapter 2

Alexander's POV

As I hear the door closing, I return to my chair and sat back down. Putting my hands on my forehead, a headache that's slowly taking place. I let out a deep breath of tiredness and longing.

Longing for my mate to be here with me.

"We would find her soon" assured my wolf to me. "For now, let's face this matter about the rogues so that nothing will get our way in finding our mate."

"Yeah, you're right."

Tired of thinking too much, I turn my visions around my office.

This was once been my father's office. He insists to take another room for my office anywhere here in the castle and designing and arranging it the way I like it to be. Teasing me that his office is too old for me and that as the new Alpha King, I should have my new and own office that suits my personality.

But I declined his offer to set up my office anywhere in the castle. Because I like this old room that is full of memories.

This room has also been the personal office of the past Alpha Kings. For me, it's an honor to also used this room as my office. Though some of the furniture here had been replaced and renovated and repaired. I can still feel and smell the old wooden walls. The smell of old books on the bookshelf.

My father used to read me those books in this room when I was little. Books about wars, tactics, and training. Teaching me the wisdom I need, to be the next Alpha King.

Across the bookshelf is a fireplace. Beside it is a small couch that two persons can fit. On the floor lay a big round fluffy rug.

My mother would sit on the couch and just silently watch and listen to us with my father exchanging views and ideas.

I always caught her staring at my father with so much love and adoration. For my father is a great man and had been a great Alpha King in this kingdom. He ruled the werewolf society with great power and wisdom. It's my pride and honor to follow and continue his legacy.

Seeing both of them have so much love for each other. I often asked them about having a mate.

Is it truly the greatest gift of the Moon Goddess?

My mother would always tell me to be patient and sensitive when talking about mates.

I remember my father telling me:

"Son, one day the Moon Goddess will gift you a love that you would cherish for eternity. And that is your Mate."

Turned his eyes to my mom and smile.

"When your wolf found her you'll feel the undeniable and uncontrollable bond to her. Always understand each other, especially your wolf. It will be hard to control him whenever your mate is around. And its instinct is to always be with your mate and protect her above all else. After all, a mate is your other half, she would be the mind and heart of your wolf. Your mate will be the only one who can calm and understand that beast inside you."

They said that the Mate pull is more stronger for us, for we are a Royal Wolf.

My loving mom always keeps telling me that when the time comes to meet my mate, give the love she deserves and tell me that she will give me more love in return. Having her by my side will make us both more stronger. That I should fight for her no matter what.

At that time, I still don't understand the mate thing. All I know is that my parents are very much in love with each other. That until now their love is growing more and more stronger.

After my father passed down the throne to me as the new Alpha King of werewolves, my parents chose to leave the castle and retire from royal duties and responsibilities and chose to live peacefully in a quiet place far away from here.

They want to live their lives together and spend more time with each other which I understand.

Being an Alpha King has so many responsibilities, obligations, and duties to fulfill that my father didn't get to spend enough time with us, his family. So now, he's making up for the times he didn't have with my mom.

As their only son, I wish all their happiness and what their hearts desire. After all, they deserved to be happy. So I didn't get on their way when they decided to leave the castle and left me here alone.

Though I felt sad at that time, I understand. When the time comes to meet my mate, maybe I'll do the same as my father did.

Spending alone time with your mate.

Now that I think of them at a time like this, I wish that they were here with me to comfort me and ease the loneliness I feel. When this is all done and settled, I would definitely go and visit them.

Deciding to go out and have some fresh air, I went out of the office. As I walked out, a servant came to me and bow down.

"My Alpha King, your breakfast is served and ready on your balcony."

"Ok, I'll be right there." My stomach rumbled in response. Forgetting that I hadn't eaten my breakfast this morning after talking to Paul. With that, I head straight to the balcony.

The servants here in the castle know that I always had my breakfast here on the balcony.

I prefer to have my breakfast here every morning for the good environment and view up here. It's good to start a day that's positive and wonderful things surrounding you.

The feel of fresh air and watching the sunrise as its rays hit my face. The wonderful scenery of landscape that's in front of me.

Walking my way to the railings, putting my hands on it, feeling its coldness from the morning dew.

Up in the sky are birds flying freely welcoming a new day. Looking down at the woods not far away, I saw a deer along with its fawns happily chasing each other. When they sensed that someone was watching them, they quickly run away. Running away, for their lives are like hanging on a thread. Always in danger, hunted by our beasts for meals and other creatures that are lurking deep into the woods.

This kingdom that I ruled is wealthy in land. We are rich in the natural resources of the environment around the kingdom. Which we use to trade and transact to the human territory. The Alpha Kings in the past have been negotiating business with humans that they trusted and it has been passed down to generations and had been the kingdoms traditional way of living to support the needs and other necessities of the kingdom and the werewolf society. As the Alpha King, I always assure and keep track of dealing business with the humans. We only allowed the humans that we trust the most to go in and out here in my kingdom. They pledged to not tell anyone or expose to the human world about us, that werewolves do exist.

Or else, they'll face the consequences.

So, the werewolf society here in this kingdom is all wealthy and well-off when it comes to living.

Here in werewolf territory, in my kingdom, there are twenty packs that of course led by twenty Alphas. The castle is placed and built at the center of the pack. The castle was built centuries ago but its structures are strong and had a solid foundation. The wolf warriors are always on guard and patrolling around the castle.

The big giant magnificent gate at the entrance has five guards in position. Ready to fight whoever would dare to intrude on the castle.

Upon entering, there is a big statue of a majestic wolf howling to the Moon Goddess up above, placed at the center standing on its glory.

Looking through all of this, all of the hard work, plans and efforts of the past generations of werewolves to keep the werewolf society thriving and alive will be passed on to generations and generations.

As their Alpha King now, I will make sure to lead and continue to protect my kingdom and keep on the legacy of the werewolf kingdom.

Thinking all about this makes my heart ache for my mate. For I need her here with me to rule the werewolf kingdom.

I may have all of the luxury in the world, but all I need right now is her.

My mate.

Sighing, I turn around and sat. All of the thinking got me to starve. Enough of the worries, for now, I'll eat first and devour the food that's been served to me.

As I take a sip of my black coffee, Paul had mind link me.

"Then make sure to prepare the conference room to accommodate them all along with their betas."

"Yes, Alpha King Alexander."

With that being said, I blocked him off of the mind link.

Emptying the black coffee to warm my insides, I head back to my office. There are still more papers and documents waiting at my desk that need to review and to be signed.

It's gonna be a long day again for me at the office.

Alpha King mode is on.
