Knighthood

"What?" Alec leaned forward to hear Miranda clearly. "Why are you waking up everyone?"

Pulling every crew member from the long sleep could mean one of two things.

One, they were in imminent danger and everyone needed to be evacuated off the station, or two, they were going to prep the final stages before the whole station was heading back to Earth.

Alec furrowed his eyebrows at the idea. 'Adam wasn't that bad of a threat, so the reason must have been the start of returning to earth.'

Miranda clarified with, "The Savior is a magnificent station, but nothing is everlasting. We are gonna start running out of time soon. Our resources are going to diminish the longer we stay out by IO, so final preparations need to be made now."

Alec understood, 'The station has spent over twenty years running with a skeleton crew to keep maintenance going. At most, we would have about two years of everyone being awake before supplies drop below a redline and the ability to leave is no longer an option.'

"I get that part." said Alec, "How do you plan to sustain over two hundred people on a planet that could still be or if not more poisonous than before we left?"

"For the last ten years, I've been trying to figure out how to get information about Earth and not risk losing anyone else in the process."

Alec nodded his head.

"Now I believe you just brought me the answer Director Valentine left for us."

Alec's eyes widened. "You mean you're going to send Adam to Earth?"

"Yes, Valentine must have left the staging core here for this exact reason. Why else would she have snuck something like an untested AI onboard?"

It seemed like a rhetorical question at first, but Alec was wondering if she actually wanted to know his opinion. He just saw how quick Adam was to operate the station, but that couldn't change the situation on Earth.

He decided to voiced his concerns, "Maybe that is the reason she brought him, yet an AI is not going to be useful if you just shoot him at the planet. What exactly do you plan to have him operate? I saw the satellite feeds were interrupted, there's probably not a single operable piece of tech down there. "

"Well, that is why we need to send him equipped with everything he'll need to restart he recolonization. Besides waking everyone to prep the station, I am starting the last Savior project Valentine sent to me before she left. "

"She sent you a message too?" Alec was not shocked, he was curious about why the first director was secretly sending messages to him and Miranda before she left.

"Yep, well it's not any clearer than your message. She left me just a list of assorted technology we have on board. I've been trying to figure out for so long why the message was so cryptic, then it hit me when Syndy notified me about Adam." She turned over her tablet and showed the contents of the message.

Alec looked across the list, he knew a lot of these parts well, he even invented some of them himself. That didn't mean he understood how the thirty different inventions could be mashed together. What project could Valentine have the station put a whole AI into.

When Alec shrugged a 'I have no clue' gesture at Her, Miranda simply nodded and said, "It took me over three years to understand all the properties of the projects she sent, I will let you know later what the plan is after you settle in."

Alec stood up and started walking out the door, but Miranda stopped him.

"Before you go, you should know now why I had Syndy pull you from long sleep first."

Alec hadn't thought much about that, 'If Miranda was pulling all the younger kids out to work overtime, why did she pull my old ass out? She said she wanted me to help pull everyone out, but what exactly does that mean.'

Everyone cryostasis bed on the station was completely automated to run on its own

He turned and looked at her, waiting for a response. Her face changed from tired to grim, something told Alec he was not going to like the reason.

Adam looked down and saw the body he was giving now wore black, medieval armor. On his hip was a sword and three small daggers. He brought his gloved hands to his face and felt a cloth mask was covering the lower half of his head.

When he looked up at the forest that finished loading; the sounds hit him all at once. Adam heard a loud commotion deep in the trees.

Adam tried to break down the simulation, but failed just like had with Syndy's simulation. The program security even started overlapping more codes and finished it off with images of hands raising the middle finger.

Adam grew extremely irritated with the personality of Cameron and his little quirks.

'How did hell did this psycho do all this? He can construct more variables in his code than even Syndy could.'

Adam was beginning to doubt if this Cameron kid was even human.

With still no way of escape, Adam walked towards the sounds of action ahead of him.

After a few minutes, Adam made it into a clearing within the forest. In the open field was forty men dressed in the same armor as his, though half of them wore silver armor instead of black.

"What the fuck?" Adam was extremely confused.

The commotion was the forty men fighting one another. Each knight was swinging their heavy broadswords in the path of their opponent's sword just in time to prevent dismemberment.

After two or three moves, some did not move fast enough and began taking fatal hits.

Adam stayed at the edge of the clearing to keep watch of what was happening.

Occasionally someone would throw a dagger at the enemy if they let up on the sword attacks. Each side was starting to take casualties until only a dozen of each color remained.

When Adam was still debating the idea revealing himself, a new problem entered the field.

A giant red blur swept in from the sky and three of the many misconstrued bodies disappeared with the red blur. All of the knights stopped and stepped away when they felt the heavy wind nearly blow them over.

Large splatters of blood started raining from the sky for a few seconds, then the blur came through again and more bodies were swiped from the ground.

The men kept to their respective parties and had their swords pointed at the sky. The red blur came down, hitting the ground with a huge shockwave following the impact. The red blur swept its wings across the field and revealed itself to the group.

The blur was an enormous, blood-red lizard beast with a long scaly tail and leathery wings. One of the silver knights shouted, "Dragon!"

[ Defeat the Dragon to carry onward. ]

A gold text display popped up at the bottom of Adam's vision. It scrolled across and shortly disappeared before Adam fully grasped the objective.

'How the fuck am I supposed to beat the giant, flying lizard?'

[ You're a knight. You have a sword and some knives. Use them, dumbass. ]

"I hate you." Was Adam's only response.

[ I hate me too. Good luck :) ]

The dragon roared loudly at the men across the field, the roar rang heavily through the metal helmets of the knights. All of them quickly grasped their helmets and threw them on the ground.

Adam was sneaking around to the backside of the dragon while still behind the tree line. He glanced at the knights to see if their reactions could help him distract the dragon, but he ended up doing a double take.

All the knights had the same face; the face of a sun-tanned korean man with pitch black hair and very pointed jaw. Now that Adam could see them a little bit better, he realized they were all the same height and everything, it was the same person copied over each character.

'Why are they all the same person?'

[ I didn't have much time to throw together a face generator. It was easier to use the facial scans I already put together of the one martial artist on the station. ]

'Why is it this weirdo can snatch me out of an isolated drive with no transceivers to communicate data, but he can't work around making a single face at a time?'

[ Don't hate on the game, hate on the player who has yet to do anything useful. ]

"If I get out of here, I am gonna find a way to vent your ass into space." Adam mumbled under his breath.

He then proceeded to charge forward.
