Chapter 20 - The unforeseen path Part 2

Edgar currently pacing back and forth in the dining room. Over exhausting mentally trying to think what Roy could be doing next and how to keep Anna safe. Similar to a poor man who suddenly become wealthy overnight and need a way to keep his money safe.

(Am I being too paranoid? Am I thinking too much? What if I am wrong?)

It as if there a million things happening inside his head.

(No, from Anna's words, it shown clear signs of Roy being a possessive person)

Edgar continues to think.

"..."

Anna got tired of seeing Edgar like that.

"You are acting so weird today.", she said.

(If you had read as much webnovels and mangas, watch as much animes as me, you will understand why I am worrying about Roy)

Edgar thought to himself.

"Hmph! I am going back to the room!"

she angrily went up to their room thinking that Edgar is ignoring her.

Frederick soon returned.

"Did you find him!?", Edgar hurriedly asked.

"No milord, I searched his house for clues as well but it seem like he haven't been home for quite a few days.", Frederick reported back his finding.

"This is just further confirms my worries about Roy!", Edgar discouraged by the news.

Just as he is pondering what to do, he hear noises from upstairs.

Immediately he went up to check on Anna.

(Knock! Knock!)

"Anna! Anna! You in there!?", Edgar worriedly Knocks on the door.

But no one answered back.

He open the door with his key and to his horror, Anna wasn't inside. The window was opened.

"Fuck! I am still too careless!", he blamed himself.

Somewhere not too far outside from the town, a person can be seem walking while princess carrying a girl.

"Anna...", the person tenderly say her name.

This is person is Roy and somehow he awakened his hero's ability without Anna's assistances. His strength, speed, agility and endurance increased as well as he gain the ability to use magic. This is why he can kidnapped her without being seen under the sun.

"Edgar Von Valvford, sole son of the current prime minister of the Great Thussian Empire. But that doesn't matter, I will kill you, slowly and painfully..."

He look back at Anna in his arm who is currently not conscious.

"You should had chose me instead, not him, not him!"

Back at the inn, Edgar enlisted Margaret and Anna's father in their searches.

"I have checked all places she might go." said Anna's father.

"I too did the same." said Margaret.

"Damn! Where could he had taken her?"

"Lord Edgar, you think that Roy is behind this?", Anna's father couldn't believe what's he hearing from Edgar.

"I believe he to be the primary suspect.", Edgar reassured him.

"But why? I don't understand, they grew up together and had such good relationships!"

"Well let me tell you this in a simpler term, he like Anna but Anna like me", Edgar trying to explain this in the most simple way possible.

"Is this the rumored love triangle where the heroine have to choose between her commoner childhood sweetheart and the noble who she just met!?", Margaret getting excited hearing the news from Edgar.

"The heroine already chose the noble!", he said toward Margaret.

"Milord! I receive news that our household was broke into! Several of our guards was injured!", Frederick returned from his search.

"Tsk, let return for now!"

"Yes milord!"

With the searches for Anna having no further development, all Edgar can do now is returning to his mansion.

"Damages report?", Edgar asked Frederick in the middle of the route.

"No signs of robbery, but your room appeared to be the target. About ten of our men got injured fighting the intruder.", Frederick report back.

"Intruder? Only one?"

"Yes, only one"

"Unbelievable...", Edgar shocked by this piece of news.

"Further more, Earl Urlan will be arriving the next day or two", Frederick continue to pile on the bad news.

"What a perfect timing this is", Edgar smiled bitterly.

Just as everything was going smoothly, they all went crushing down on him.

"Sigh, for now let focus on dealing with Earl Urlan and Yerman first. If it Roy, I don't think he will hurt Anna."

"I was thinking that too.", Frederick nodded.
