Chapter Six: I'll Be Back

woke up around 7 in the morning to see Kaitlyn and mom asleep in my mom's room. I go downstairs and get a major headache. I get in the medicine cabinet and take some Ibuprofen then sit down on the couch.

"Mommy!" I look up to see Kaitlyn running down the stairs and she hugs me. I hug her back and smile. "Hey hunny. How did you sleep?" I say still tired and Kaitlyn looks sad. "Not good. I was worried about you." She looks down at the ground and it feels like my heart just melted.

"Aww! Kaitlyn! You don't have to worry about me. I just can't be running or anything until later. Are you hungry?" She looks up at me and smiles and yells 'waffles'. I laugh and she gets excited then turns into a puppy. "It's okay. You'll get the hang of it."

(Time skip to after waffles)

I make the waffles and sit them down on the table. Kaitlyn jumps into the chair and turns back to human. She stuffs her mouth full and I smile then sit down next to her.  My mo makes up and walks down the stairs while rubbing her eyes. "Oh. Hey mom."

I look down at the table and she sighs. "I'm sorry Grandma." I look up to see my mom pat Kaitlyn's head and smile.

(After Breakfast)

I clean up the table and mom talks to Kaitlyn

"So, wanna go to the park later?" I sit a plate down in the sink then turn my head just enough for my mom to see my eyes. "Mom, stop." "What? Don't you think I deserve to see my granddaughter sometimes?" I throw the sponge down in the sink and we start yelling back and forth.

I see Kaitlyn turn into her dog form and hide under the table so I lower my voice down. "M-mom." She keeps yelling so I raise my voice to make her shut up. "MOM!" "WHAT!?" I point to Kaitlyn peeking out from under the table and she stops yelling and sits down.

I walk over to her and lift the table cloth up. She sees that it's me and jumps into my arms and raps her arms around my neck. I stand up then go upstairs to my room. I find one of my first grade shirts and leggings then put them on her along with blue adidas and a white cap. I pick her up then go back downstairs. My mom looks at us and I open the door. "W-Where are you going?" "Not here."

(Time Skip)

I walk into the pound and see Larry at the front desk. "You remember this cutie?" He raises an eyebrow and shakes his head. I roll my eyes and sit Kaitlyn on the counter. "Remember Butter?" He still looks confused then his eyes get big and he points at Kaitlyn. "Yep!"

He does the mind blown thing and I laugh. "So.. you can watch her for me?" "WHAT!? No!" I sigh and rest my head against the counter then look back at him. "Please Larry? I really need you to do this!" He sighs and taps his finger on the desk. "Fine." "Yay! Thank you!" I reach over to counter and hug him then sit Kaitlyn down on the ground and get down to her level.

"I'll miss you mommy." I hug her then stand back up and she squeezes my leg. I try to take her off but I can't so I look at Larry. He laughs then walks around the counter and takes her off of me and holds her. She reaches out to me so I kiss her forehead then I hug Larry and walk out of the shelter.
