Get it out of your system

Clang!

I sit up abruptly when I hear a sound coming from the kitchen. Who is here? Is Eli already back? I check the time on my phone. It's not lunchtime yet. Then, who is in the kitchen?

Is it the Devil? I need to have a talk with that cat. Somehow, it's a real thing. I scratch my head. Why is it real? It's hard to believe that it's real. Then, Eli is also real.

A ghoul for real… Let it be. I am already married to that moron. I still want to be mad at him, though I understand why he did what he did. If I was a ghoul, I wouldn't go around and tell people that I am one. It's not like Eli and I are married for a decade. It's only been a little over a week.

That guy was likely to keep it a secret for a long time. Let's not get mad at him. He apologized a lot. He might cry again if I get mad at him. What's important is that he did tell me the truth.

What about Evie? Was that real or not? I go to the living room. I need to head out before he comes back. I see the cat on the couch. He opens his eyes and raises his paw. "Yo!"

"Don't Yo me." I make a face at him. "I can't believe that you are real."

"I became real because you wanted me to be real." The cat tongues out.

Why did I want it to become real? Screw it! It only became more annoying.

"Wife, you are awake?" I hear Eli's voice. When I turn around, I see him standing with a smile on his face. He's back to his usual human looks, dressed in a casual black t-shirt and dark jeans.

Why is he here right now? I frown. "What are you doing?"

"I am making cookies." Eli grins at me. "They will be ready in a while."

"Cookies?" Isn't he supposed to be at work? "Did you skip work again?"

"I took some time off." He walks toward me with a mischievous look.

I can't believe this guy. How would I go out if he's here? He has been glued to me for a week. Now, he even took time off from his work. How did his boss allow him to take time off? His boss should have forced him to work to death. It's not like human rights apply to him.

"Tsk!" The Devil scowls at me. "You are something, Woman. Why do you want Little Marshmallow to work so much? He has enough money to feed you."

Nobody asked you to speak. I scowl back at the Devil.

"You are being ridiculous." He closes his eyes again. "Little Marshmallow is warm. I like him when he's near me."

If you like him that much, why don't you keep him?

"Then, lend him to me." The Devil purrs, "Little Marshmallow, abandon this woman and be my slave."

"Thank you for the offer." Eli looks at him smugly. "But I already belong to my wife. I have her name on every fibre of my being."

So, he did hear those words that day. "Doctor Sanguine, you are a doctor. You had a tight schedule this month. It's irresponsible to take some time off."

"My wife is ideal." He chuckles. "She's kind and responsible. She worries about others so much that she doesn't care whether she has a wedding ceremony and honeymoon or not. I need to take care of her a lot since she doesn't make any demand."

"..." Why do I have a bad feeling about this? I fold my arms and narrow my eyes at him. What's he planning? Why is he suddenly mentioning the wedding ceremony? Honeymoon? Is it because of what I said this morning? I shouldn't have asked if he wanted to do it. Obviously, he wants to do it. "I changed my mind about sleeping with you since I am not in love with you yet. Why should we go on a honeymoon?"

"That's okay." He walks closer to me. "I will wait when you are ready."

He's definitely planning something. "Doctor Sanguine, why are you being like this suddenly?"

"I thought about it." He leans closer and kisses my head. "I did wrong and you don't trust me anymore. I should be punished. Until you admit that you love me and give me a proper kiss, we won't consummate this marriage."

He is still waiting for that proper kiss. How many times have I kissed him already? Consummate our marriage until I admit it? It sounds so abnormal when I hear it. This virgin guy is going to wait?

Shouldn't I say that I am fine with waiting?

"I see only idiots in this room," The cat clicks his tongue and makes a snide remark.

I ignore the cat. I have a bigger worry. "How is the hospital going to do without you? You should think about your patients."

"Doctor Anderson will cover them." He puts his chin on my head and coils his arms around my shoulder. "You smell cosy today."

He can't distract me by calling me cosy. "Doctor Sanguine, just how many days did you take off?"

"Indefinite vacation." He slips his hand inside my shirt and runs his fingers on my spine. "Boss said to me that It's fine as long as I come back to work at the hospital in the future."

His boss is too lenient. I push him away. "Why are you touching me again when you said that you won't do it until I say so?"

"I didn't say that I won't touch you." He blinks his eyes. "I am also a man. How can I stay alive without touching you? We can do a lot before consummating our marriage."

Scamster! I knew that he was being fake when he said that he would wait. This guy wants to seduce me into doing it. Now, he's trying to distract me again. "Eli Sanguine, I don't want a honeymoon with you."

"If not me, then who?" He cocks his head and asks me, confused. "I want to be on a forever honeymoon with you."

"Don't…" I am too frustrated to speak. I let out an exasperated sigh. Am I stuck with this guy for an indefinite period? This guy is scaring me now. When will I get my alone time? There's always this cat or this guy beside me. Also, I need to go and see Evie.

We haven't been married for long, but I think that we need marriage counselling. This man is too attached. "I am heading out. I need to visit a friend."

"Like this?" He points at my chest with a gaze full of desire. "Can I kiss them? We have all day now."

What is he talking about? When I look down, I realize the meaning of his words. I cover my chest. "Why didn't you say anything before?"

Spending winter with a thin white fabric without a bra is not a good idea. I have been wearing clothes like this for a week now. I didn't have to worry about this before I got married to Eli.

"I like seeing." He puts his finger into the gap between the second and third button, touching and yet not touching. He sighs close to my ear. "I want to see more of you."

DAMN THIS MAN! I am going to send him to hell by myself. "Eli Sanguine, behave."

He replies with a wet luscious voice, "Teach me how to behave when you are here."

"I am going to the study room." The Devil walks away. "I don't want to hear you two talking about nipples anymore."

That cat also didn't say anything. I should at him. "You, come back here." Don't leave me alone with this guy.

"Nope." The cat passes through the door of the study room. "Get it out of your system."

That cat is in cahoot with this man. I flinch when I feel his wet tongue on my ear again while his fingers undo the second button. "Yummy."

"Who are hell is yummy?" His other hand grips my waist hard when I squirm to get away from him. "Eli Sanguine, just what are you doing?"

He looks into my eyes and bites my lower lip. The heat in his eyes is challenging me as if he wants to see how I am going to pull away from him when he wants to see more of me. He loosens his grip on my waist. He glides his warm hand on my skin, crawling up. His contagious heat is making my body grow hot. His gaze is still locked with mine. He pulls my lower lip and let it go. He turns his head toward the kitchen and wrinkles his nose, "do you smell something burning?"

Who cares if something is burning? I stand on my toes to reach his lips again.

"Cookies." He widens his eyes. "Wait here, Nell."

The pit of my stomach throbs when he lets go of me suddenly.

I see him running to the kitchen in haste. I look at my shirt. All the buttons are undone, revealing my bare skin. How could he leave me hanging here? He should have finished what he started.

"Wait a second." I cover button my shirt quickly. "What I am saying?"

Did he just seduce me? I fell so easily. Still, why does he care about cookies at a time like this? He can't even eat them.

He comes back while holding a tray of burnt cookies. He lets out a deep sigh, looking at his creations with dismay. "Wife, I am sorry. I wanted to make cookies for you, but I made a mess."

This guy keeps doing unnecessary things. I pick one anyway and bite it. "It's not as bad as it looks, but don't do stuff like this. It's a pain to see a surgeon's hands create cookies for me."

Apart from the dry burnt flavour, I can taste a bit of chocolate. But he looks a little less sad. I eat another one. Then, he smiles at me and says, "Wife, are you trying to cheer me up?"

He doesn't know any tact at all. I feel my cheeks burning in embarrassment. I look away. "No, I am just hungry."

"Don't eat them. You will get a stomach ache." He takes away the tray with a knowing look. "Let's go out. We will visit your friend together."

It seems that he won't leave me alone for a moment. Now, I have to find a friend. Who do I call?

Should I call that person? He did say that he would always answer my calls.
