I want you to help me

This is the world where he doesn't love her. His eyes aren't warm. They don't shine when he looks at her. His voice is polite at most, but the distance between them is clear. He is looking at her as if she is a despicable woman. 

"I guess," Nell murmurs, "I am pitiful indeed." 

"Did she come to you and say that I was in a relationship with her?" Eli studies her face, noticing the hurt in her hazel eyes. "I think that you wanted to believe that your husband wasn't cheating on you."

In an instant, her eyes turn unfeeling and glassy. She gives him a tight smile. "I don't care whether he cheats on me or not."

The change is sudden. Eli frowns. "Is that so?"
