The Beginning ~ 1

CHAPTER ONE

Gently, I awoke to the sound of swaying waves and the view of gliding seagulls. My toes tingle at the feeling of the sea spraying me, I knew then that I was burnt. Slowly and sloppily I leant upright to get a good look around. The sky was a romantic orangey - purple colour and the sun was setting for the night.

I must have fallen asleep because it was much more crowded earlier that day, now there were only the odd elderly couple strolling along the shore.

As I was watching the last few couples head to their cars away from the beach something bright flashed in front of my face, it was a seagull. Surprisingly, the seagull was over-friendly and pecks at the sand next to me.

I dragged my knee  exhaustedly a few inches, making a small mound of sand at the seagulls feet, it flew off with a flap.

I decided, finally, to get up and find my car as the sun was setting and it was getting late. I wobbled to my feet and began to stumble to my car, it was only when I got a little closer when I realised my car was gone! I felt a bubble of panic inflating in my stomach, at this point it was dark, the earth was coveted by the blanket of the night and everywhere was closed, except from one arcade with bright flashing lights.

Quickly, I bounded up behind the man closing the arcade shop. The blinking lights were blinding in the darkness of the night and at first the man didn't see me, I tapped on his shoulder.

No reply.

I could feel my face begin to pull an offended expression.

Suddenly, the lights all shut off and made my heart skip a beat (and not in the good way).

He turned and walked right past me, he didn't even see me when I stood in his direct eye line.

It was like...

I was invisible...?
