A bed to sleep in ~ 3

CHAPTER 3

I knocked on the old wooden door of the cosy, light - filled house and as I did so an grey tabby cat brushes up against my leg, causing me to step to the side of the path leading up to the door way.

The door opens and a sweet, little old lady shimmys out down her walk way, ignoring me standing right on her doorstep. "hello, miss, my name is -" The fragile little lady slams the metal bin lid down after throwing out some rubbish before I could even finish my sentence.

I watch her, bewildered at how she hadnt noticed me yet. She waddled back up her walkway and shuts the door with a gentle click.

Maybe she is deaf, I told myself, making me feel a little better. Yeah... The way she slammed that bin lid, she must just be deaf.

Cluelessly, I walked back down her path and stared into the array of houses, all as black as the sky itself.

I turned away and walk back the way I came, to the sea front. The moon, by this time, had moved and was perfectly halved over the seas horizon.

The glimmering of the reflection on the soft, dozy waves was almost picture perfect. I stared out into the deep ocean, puzzled.

This whole ordeal was strange and seemingly easy to solve but somehow it seemed almost impossible. Without a phone or car, there wasnt much to do in terms of getting help at this time of the night.

I wedged myself between two large rocks on the beach and sat myself down, surprisingly it was comfy and the coolness of the rocks helped ease the burning pains.

My eyelids felt heavy and my head was pushing me down, down into the depths of sleep.

I close my eyes and my head droops.
