Doesn't that mean, every magical spell I have, as long as it is within the control of space-time elements, it would easily be optimized to the 81st-class magic circle? But my pseudo-spells aren't 81st-class magic circles, however. Could I refine them as I improve my comprehension of space-time, before merging all my magic circles in the Legendary stage?
As Xander continued to entertain this idea, Ms. Lim continued on to discuss the structure of magic circles, as well as the runic writings engraved on these circles.
"I have mentioned earlier that one needs to continuously increase their understanding of their selected pseudo-magic circles to ensure greater chances of creating higher-class magic circles upon reaching Master class. To do this, one needs 2 things: Talent and a creative mind. Another way magicians do to increase their understanding of the magic circles is through reading the runic writing in their circles." At this point, Ms. Lim's voice suddenly turned grave.
"The runic writing varies per person per spell, and usually, the stronger the spell, the more complex and more dangerous this method would be."
A girl that sat beside Xander raised her hand, and asked,
"Why would reading runic writing be dangerous? Aren't they formed by our own influence and power?"
"Trisha, you are partially correct to say that the runic writing has our influence (our life force) and power (our primary element). However, you need to ask: Did you make the spell? You didn't make the spell, as you merely copied it from another source and edited it passively with your life force, but the unedited parts remain there."
"The danger of reading and meditating upon these runic writings is shown through the manifestation of power. Since it is within your mind, it can create powerful, realistic illusions that immerses you to some truths about the magic circle; this isn't bad at all if you have a strong magic perception."
"In fact, even a layman, when exposed directly to these runic writings for a period of time can turn into a magic genius. However, if one isn't careful, one can fall into deviation in magic cultivation and become psychotic magicians, or even have magic backfire, killing you instantly, or making you a cripple if you survive."
"If you do survive the illusion, or break the illusion, it is guaranteed that you would increase comprehension at least 10%. We'll discuss more about meditation later on in class."
"Now you may be wondering that besides the fact you need to use your comprehension of 9 spells to make your magic circle, what else is its function? Why take the risk of meditating upon the runic writing? The answer is that once you create your founding magic circle in the Master class, the succeeding levels will require you to create magic spells that you get from combining at least 2 of your 9 pseudo-magic circles."
"You may think this is similar to what you initially did to get to Master class, but it is not. What you used before is comprehension of the pseudo-magic circles to create a new magic circle, but the new magic circle isn't necessarily a combination of all 9 pseudo-magic circles. To advance to Master-2, you need one spell that combines at least 2 pseudo-magic circles. To advance to Master-3, one needs to combine 3-pseudo magic circles, and so on, until reaching Master-9, requiring them to combine all 9 pseudo-magic circles."
Ms. Lim paused for a bit and asked the class,
"But first, how do you combine two separate pseudo-magic circles? This is done through completely understanding at least one facet of the two magic circles! Of course, this only increases the chance of successfully combining them. The more facets you understand about a magic circle, the higher the chances become. This is why I mentioned again and again that the spells you select for your magical seeds must be complementary or at least in the same element/supporting element/non-conflicting element, and at the same time, you need to have a high level of comprehension, if not perfect."
Ms. Lim showed another projection, this time, there were 5 magic seeds, and based on the color and shape, each had a different element.
"This is where the problems of having more than 3 primary elements appear. Beyond 3 primary elements, the permutation of elemental affinities become near incalculable, making it a challenge to see whether the 4, 5, 6, etc. elemental magic circle will be formed correctly. However, this can also be a blessing; what if your 4, 5, 6, etc. primary elements were coincidentally complementary to one another, or non-conflicting? What you have, my dear students, would be a person who is considered Heaven's child in our world's standards. As long as they manage to reach Master-9, it is even possible for them to challenge someone at the peak of legendary class, or near it."
At this point, multiple mathematical formulations appeared in the projection, covering multiple aspects of a magic circle and the corresponding spell, showing the estimated calculations for 4, 5, and 6 primary elements which showed an exponential trend. The students were also becoming a bit dizzy just trying to read and understand it.
Xander had already snapped out of his thoughts and saw the numbers, and couldn't help but nod in agreement. After all, he had also calculated the permutations with the help of his tutor, Helena and his father's friends and colleagues.
In fact, without his time acceleration field, he wouldn't be able to create his advanced spells within a short period of time.
"Theoretically, based on thousands of years of research, refinement, and experimentation, every spell can be combined. The problem lies on the time it would take to combine, as well as the difficulty to do so."
Saying this, she falls silent, letting the class sink in this information. Xander was in agreement as well with this idea. With enough time, all spells can combine and transform into something else. However, similar to how enzymes and proteins can match to produce an accelerated reaction, magic requires something similar as well, a catalyst to hasten the process.
In magic, similar spells would be easier to combine because of similarities in structure; less conflicts mean more capacity for error. Similar elements meant that the elements that form the spells would be calm and not agitated. Having the influence of your life essence in the model makes it a bit easier, as the models would have at least a minimum compatibility of 1 point, if the total was 1000 points.
"The real challenge is when you reach Master-9, and are preparing for breaking through to Legendary Class. Since this isn't part of the course, and will be taught in Advanced Magic course, I'll just give you guys an idea about it: Unity." She gave the class a crafty smile, while some of the students were confused about what she just said about Legendary class.
Ms. Lim continued to discuss on miscellaneous matters that Xander had already known from reading the books for this course.
For example, one's body strengthening and consumption of life essence-improving items - food, medicine, tonics, elixirs, pills - is still continued until Master class.
Time quickly passed by. 15 minutes before the end of the class, Ms. Lim announced them that the school has set a cultivation requirement that the members of the advanced track program must achieve: By the end of the semester, they should be higher than their original cultivation by 2 levels.
Currently, Xander was Elite-8, and he could modify the magical fluctuations he released with the help of [Absolute Defense]; at the moment, he showed a cultivation level of Elite-2 when he was finishing up the forms and requirements earlier today.
After announcing this, Ms. Lim then began to introduce the building's facilities. Xander didn't bother listening as he had explored the facilities already and had gotten a general gist of them.
"Alright, if there are no more questions, you guys are dismissed and free to do their own thing. See you all tomorrow." Ms. Lim left the building and everyone began clearing their desks and dispersing.
Xander talked to a few of the students he had gotten close to for a few minutes before heading out to his next class, Elemental Control. The class was held in the wide building just behind his first classroom. As he exited the building, he heard someone calling his name.
"Hey! Xander, wait up!" Faykes shouted, moving quickly towards him. Xander raised his eyebrow in confusion and decided to continue heading to the wide building.
"Sheesh, Xander slow down a bit!" Faykes groaned, trying to catch up to Xander. He was inwardly surprised, since he was already using wind and water magic to boost his speed, he should have easily caught up with Xander, or at least decreased the distance between the two of them.
This got Faykes to be pumped up; He continued pouring magic into his body, boosting his speed and control. In a few seconds, he finally decreased the distance by half, but no matter how much he poured in, he could not decrease the distance anymore.
Looking behind, Xander suddenly grinned and moved faster, and to anyone observing, it seemed that he was just moving the same pace. However, if one was actually attempting to follow him, they would notice that the distance between the two of them was continuously widening.
Seeing this, Faykes almost wanted to curse; after all, he could not even detect a hint of magic in the body of Xander; how was he able to move faster than him?? This simple 'game' continued for a few minutes until Xander reached the wide building where the Elemental Control class would be held. Annoyingly, the entrance of the building was on the opposite side of the first building, so he had to move around the wide building to get to the entrance.
"Whoever designed such a building should just go die," Xander mumbled. He immediately stopped by the entrance and scanned his watch on the door. He was granted access and the door automatically opened.
At this point, a problem occurred. Faykes didn't initially notice that he was already by the building entrance, so he wasn't able to slow down properly. He began decreasing the magic input on his body and shouted at Xander, "Make way! I can't stop!!"
Xander looked at him like he was an idiot. He knew the protocols of the school buildings here. He immediately entered the building and door closed immediately. Seeing the closed door, Faykes knew he was going to be in a lot of pain and braced himself for impact and closed his eyes.
However, before he reached the door of the building, a beeping sound alarmed, and instantly, a beam struck him.
At that point, Faykes' thoughts were in a mess. Why didn't it hurt? Am I dead? Wait, why am I not moving? Shit, are my bones broken?
