------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hmm, you ready Sayaka?"
I look at Sayaka who's wearing a pink long-sleeved hoodie and black cargo jogger pants. The clothes she's wearing are not helping me clear away the evil thoughts in my head. Too tight for her but she mentioned how she'd be able to move better wearing those tight clothing so I can only bite the bullet.
As for me, I'm wearing a black shirt and a pair of gray pants. I'm going to wear armor over my clothes later so I decided to make it comfortable for me… Hmm, I think I'll unequip my pants later when changing into my armor since I feel like I won't be able to move around wearing pants under my armor.
Yeah, I'll do just that. Besides, it's easy since I can "unequip" and "equip" any sort of equipment I wish to wear or remove with a single thought. Another perk given to me by the Record Keeper, so now I'll be saying goodbye to the times I had to struggle in wearing my clothes.
The two of us are in the living room of our apartment. We pretty much have just gotten off my bed and changed into our current clothes. Sayaka is pretty jealous of me being able to "unequip" my clothes with a thought so she's throwing a tantrum right now.
As I think of a way to pacify her I felt something move in my Storage. I frowned and closed my eyes to see what's happening.
Armors, weapons, and some random important stuff (money, clothes, and other important documents) we placed in there. There doesn't seem any cha… Scratch that, I see it. An anklet of some kind and a letter.
I'll go for the letter first, summoning it from the Storage an envelope appeared on my hand. Ripping the envelope open I read the contents.
[Boy, it seems for someone who has problems in socializing you've easily found a way Companion. I'm happy for you now I don't have to worry about you being alone in a new world. I shall celebrate here in My domain for that.
Anyway boy, now that you have found a Companion I shall unlock another one of the "freebies" I have given you. The Trust Meter. It shows the trust you have on a person and the other way around. Only once the Trust Meter reaches a hundred will you be able to bring them inside your "Elysium" and allow them to go with you in the Dungeons.
Accessories will be created and placed inside your Storage for your Companions once they are registered to have complete trust in you. These accessories will serve as their "key" for being able to access the functions of Elysium and the Dungeon even without you, that is with your permission of course.
That is all I wish to say, grow stronger My Champion and become the Hero I expect you to be.]
After reading the letter I immediately used my Quirk and produce flames in my hand to burn the letter. Damn it, what did the Record Keeper mean I have problems with socializing. I hate socializing but that doesn't mean I have problems with it! Damned mad man.
What's he even thinking about when the Record Keeper added stuff like this? I've seen games that use parameters like this "Trust Meter" before. Not really a fan of those but I enjoyed playing one as a way to past time.
===== Record Keeper P.O.V.
"Fufufu, boy you really shouldn't curse a God that can influence the space where you are currently training at or else I could send stronger monsters to deal with you… Oops, too late I have already performed the deed. Fufufu! Calling Me a madman and think you can get away with it!? Amuse Me more boy and I shall send more monsters your way." (Record Keeper)
I talk to myself as I send more monsters than I originally planned to do. This will teach this brat a lesson in cursing Me.
"This is amusing." (Record Keeper)
===== Hirokazu P.O.V.
"Hi-chan?" (Sayaka)
I look at Sayaka who flinched probably because I still had my "mean" face on as I was thinking of ways to payback the damned god for what he just said to me.
"Sorry, something just came up," I said to her before summoning the anklet. First, before I give her the anklet I use the Trust Meter (this is ridiculous) to check my progress on her.
[Sayaka Akiyama
Race: Metahuman
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Trust: 100]
Huh, so that 100 goes both ways right? Good, it seems this anklet will work.
Sayaka trusts me ad I trust her, only natural considering we've stuck with each other for years.
"Here so you won't throw your tantrums anymore. It doesn't really suit you," I say but deep down I know I'm lying because whenever she throws her tantrums her pout is too adorable.
She checks the anklet out. I then started to explain what it is and what it could do. The moment I've explained everything she quickly wore it and smiled at me.
"Thank you desu~." (Sayaka)
"Alright let's go then."
I don't think there's anything else I need to worry about. Eh, I'll figure that out later. Willing my mind to open the portal to Elysium a blue vortex that looks like it's made of fog and water at the same time appeared in front of us.
(A/N: Kinda like the portals in The Flash)
I stepped into it while Sayaka followed behind me closely. After stepping out of the portal I looked around and heaved a sigh of relief when we find ourselves in an empty room devoid of any furniture. Good.
"I'm ready desu~," She says as she clenched both her fists in front of her. Damn it that looks so adorable.
"No, you're not. You don't even have a weapon Sayaka and that's stupid even if you have a Quirk."
Sayaka glared at me for a second before saying, "What weapon will I use then desu~?"
I point at one particular door and say, "Go nuts."
Behind that door is the storage room that the Record Keeper mentioned. It's got the armors and weapons he said he'll give me, we've looked over the stuff last night and I liked all of it. And she especially liked the huge sword made of bones, it's a bit taller than I am by a few inches. Also, it's a lot heavier than it looks which is why even though I think it's cool I didn't choose it for a weapon.
Sayaka enters the room when she clearly could just summon the weapon she wants… Well, she'll get used to it.
"It seems that I'm the only one who thinks it's heavy," I say to myself as I look at Sayaka walk out of the Storage room holding the huge bone sword that's bigger her height.
Sayaka walks to me as she holds the huge blade with one of her arms while the other is just resting by the side. Her strength is as ridiculous as always. With her Quirk [Superstrength] Sayaka is able to carry objects far greater than a person her height or weight could and should, she packs a lot with her punches as well. What we don't know however is the limit of her Quirk since we've never really tried it. Too dangerous for us. Or for me, it's not good for my heart to learn that my adorable best friend might be able to end me with just a single punch.
"Here desu~," she said as she hands the sword to me. "You do know that you could do it on your own already right?" I say that but I still touch the sword in doing so a screen popped up in front of me. The holographic screen has the color of blue and on it is some information about the sword.
[Bone Blade I
Type: Greatsword
-A great sword made from easily obtainable bone. Rough-hewn, but a sturdy friend to new hunters.]
I read the details of the great sword she's holding and once I've finished I say to her, "Nothings changed. It's the same great sword that we checked out last night." Sayaka nodded and replies, "Good desu~ How about you Hi-chan?" It seems she did the same thing and checked the information on her own.
To answer her question I summoned the weapon I wanted to use, a bow made out of iron. Like the Bone Blade that Sayaka uses my Iron Bow is almost as tall as me. The difference is that I could fold the bow by bending it in the middle. It's got grayish silver color because of the material used for it.
[Iron Bow I
Type: Bow
Coating: Close Range, Power
-A crude iron bow that, despite its mass-produced quality, packs quite a punch.]
Along with the bow is the quiver filled with at least 80-100 arrows, can't be sure since I'm not counting. I wish more extra details would be given by these holographic screens but meh. No use asking for something that might or might not be given.
"A bow desu~?" (Sayaka)
Seeing Sayaka's confusion as to why I chose the bow is quickly answered by me using my [Levitation] Quirk making the arrows inside the quiver levitate. Sayaka then realized why I chose the bow.
"That's cheating desu~." (Sayaka)
"Fufu, probably," I say with a grin on my face before making it disappear as I know that even with my Quirks we're still not 100% sure we'd survive whatever it is we are about to do.
I looked at the door leading to the Dungeon and frowned. Whatever's on the other side it will want to kill us, that's for sure. Which is why we need to be prepared to kill whatever it is that's coming for us.
We've talked about it last night. It was an awkward talk where I learned that Sayaka has killed before, granted it was a duck but still she killed before and she doesn't have any problem in doing it again as long as it doesn't have any sort of resemblance to a human.
However, that leaves me as someone who hasn't taken any sort of life except maybe for ants or insects. Still, I will never jeopardize my own safety and Sayaka's just because of that.
I will kill if I need to, for her sake.
"What did you even do to the duck anyway?" I ask out of simple curiosity, Sayaka isn't the type of person to just kill something for fun. At least that's what I think.
"Hmm? I gave it to you desu~." (Sayaka)
"You what now?" I asked before a memory of my seventh birthday came to mind. A memory that involves me eating a duck that she cooked for the first time they said. "That time?"
"Yes, desu~." (Sayaka)
Gods, I was the reason she killed and me inviting her to the Dungeon means she'll kill again because of me. Huh.
No point thinking about that…
"Anyway, this will be the first time I'm using this Dungeon thing so I don't know much about it. What I do know is everything I've already told you. We go in there, kill everything that's considered living or trying to kill us, we survive then we get out smarter and stronger in combat. Hopefully."
While saying that I walked to the door leading to the Dungeon but stopped when I noticed something. Actually, this isn't the first time that I noticed it but this is the first time I will be checking on it. And when I meant "it" I mean the tablet that's right beside the door leading to the Dungeon… God, I need an official name for that because saying "door leading to the Dungeon" is a mouthful. And just plain annoying.
The tablet lit up the moment I got near the door. Grabbing it I realized what it's about.
The key to opening the door.
[Pick a quest to gain access to the dungeon.
-Subjugation
-Delivery]
"Huh, what the hell?"
"What's wrong Hi-chan?" Curious Sayaka peeked at the tablet only for her to be confused when she read what's written on it. "What's all this about?"
I plan out what to do next before replying to Sayaka. I'm confused as well since I didn't know what the Record Keeper placed in the Dungeon and I'm not really sure about this mission stuff as well. Eh, not like "god" did all this just to kill me in some sort of elaborate scheme so I'll just roll with it.
I picked the Delivery missions since those seem easier than Subjugation missions. I could also see that I could choose up to four people to bring with me. Obviously, I chose Sayaka.
The next choice then followed.
[Select area to work on;
-Forest and Hills
-Snowy Mountains
-Jungle (Locked)
-Desert (Locked)
-…]
So far only two areas are really available for us to work on… Logic tells me that I should pick Forest and Hills since it's on top of the list making it seems as if it's the easiest one. But when have I ever cared about all that stuff? I pick stuff up because I have an interest in it and I ignore others because it's not worth the trouble that it might bring me.
However, if I'm interested enough to ignore the trouble that might come… It'll be a chaotic life.
Which is why I chose the Snowy Mountains because I want to see snow. Genosha is considered a tropical country so snow isn't really that common except when some person with a Quirk to control snow, ice, or the weather does something.
I like the snow and how cold it is. So does Sayaka, which is why I'm choosing the Snowy Mountains. Hopefully, nothing that's too strong will appear in that area.
[-Low Rank Quests
-High-Rank Quests
-G-Rank Quests]
Obviously, I'm only choosing the low ranked one.
[-Mountain Herb Picking
-An Anteka in the Snow
-Sinking Feeling
-Paw Pass Ticket Delivey]
Only four quests are available? That's fine, I choose the "Mountain Herb Picking" quest. Accepting the mission a screen popped up in front of me and judging from how shocked Sayaka is it means the same thing happened to her.
[Quest: Mountain Herb Picking
Objective: Collect 20 Mountain Herbs
Rewards: Weapons and Armory shop unlocked, 900z
Penalty: Weapons and Armory shop locked until Hunter has killed an Elder Dragon.]
Huh? That seems like so much for the first mission… Not gonna complain though since I've been thinking of ways to find Sayaka an armor she could use. Not just her cargo pants and hoodie. I would let her use my armors but it doesn't magically adjust it's size so that's impossible.
With this reward, we could make as much weapon and armor we want as long as we have the money. What's "z" mean anyway?
"What's happening Hi-chan?" (Sayaka)
Right, I need to explain stuff to her. And I did just that, I explained to her about the missions and what should be done during the mission. Even the rewards for completing the mission didn't get past our conversation. Once I finished explaining to her what all the fuss is about Sayaka's eyes shone with so much "sparkles" that I swear I feel like I almost got blinded.
"HI-CHAN!!!" (Sayaka)
She's grinning like an idiot… The last time I saw a grin so large on her face is the day I met her. And that's when I saved her from typical bullies and promised to be her friend.
"W-what is it Saya?" I unconsciously stuttered and said my nickname for her. Damn it, that look on her face is just so adorable…
"Fufu, this place is so fun! Missions and rewards!? Isn't this place just like a game? How did your Quirk even create a place like this? No that's not important desu~. We need to go now Hi-chan!" (Sayaka)
Seeing as I couldn't stop her enthusiasm I just shrugged my shoulders and said, "Alright" before returning the tablet where I took it earlier.
[Mission registered, permission now granted to Hunters for entering the Dungeon.]
The door then opened slowly, bright light entered our eyes making me close it for a moment to adjust. However, after I opened it once again I realized that we are no longer inside Elysium. I panicked and promptly search for Sayaka, no way in hell could I have a calm mind not knowing if she's safe or not.
Thankfully I quickly found her by my side looking at me in confusion. Yeah, I understand. Even I'm confused as to why we're suddenly here. But that confusion disappeared instantly when I heard Sayaka scream.
"This place is so beautiful desu~!" (Sayaka)
It seems she adapts faster than I do… Is it because of some Quirk she has that I don't know of or just because of who she is?
"Look at how white the mountain is! And the lake! It's so blue desu! What place is this Hi-chan? I thought we'll be going to a dungeon desu~?" (Sayaka)
"Calm down geez, you're too excitable. You're asking me but who am I gonna ask? This is my first time in this place too."
"Hi-chan! You're one to talk desu~. The grin on your face is as big as mine!" (Sayaka)
I raise my brow, hmm… Yeah, I guess I am as excited as Sayaka is right now. Looking around I came to the same conclusion she did. This place is beautiful and this place exists because of the abilities I got from the Record Keeper.
Maybe he really is a god?
[Gather enough mountain herbs and deliver it back to camp. Place it inside the red box for "mission complete". The blue box contains supplies that you may need. Map, medicines, or, paintballs and other items you may need in a mission.
When a monster is defeated Hunters only need to touch the monster's corpse to obtain the loot.
Collecting materials need proper tools. Fishes need baits, bugs are caught using bug nets, ores are mined using pickaxes.
Take note that certain environments are prone to extreme temperatures and need certain drinks for Hunters to be able to adapt to the temperature change.
Once the mission is completed the Hunters will be returned to the exact same moment they entered the Dungeon.]
I could see Sayaka looking at an empty space so I assume she's reading the same thing I am. Good, don't need to explain anything to her again. I search for the boxes that were mentioned and immediately found it. Opening the blue box I notice a few stuff on it.
[-Snowy Mountain map x2
-Hot Drink x6
-Paintball x3]
Hmm, three different items. Two maps for the both of us, a Hot Drink (whatever that's for), and a Paintball that I'm assuming are to use to mark stuff.
Well doesn't matter. I took a map, three pieces of the Hot Drink and all of the Paintball. I would have given the Paintballs to Sayaka but she would be too busy holding that huge ass sword of hers.
"Take your supplies Sayaka and then let's go explore this place."
"Yes, desu~." (Sayaka)
She did as I told her and kept the map in her pocket and the drinks in a knapsack she prepared.
"Alright then, let's get out of here by following the only trail available," I say to Sayaka before walking off. She follows behind me silently as she curiously looks around. I do the same thing but neither of us let our guard down.
Well then, time to search for those herbs and maybe kill some monsters.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Author's Note:
And that's a wrap for this week. Hopefully, you all enjoyed the story so far if not well let's see how it'll go.
Now in this chapter, we see how Sayaka and Hirokazu get ready to challenge the Dungeon which is I know some of you may have realized will take place in the Snowy Mountains of MHFU. I did it in the Snowy Mountains instead of any area in MHW since MHFU is the first MH game I played in the series so I'm thinking it's only right I use it first.
I'll eventually get to the New World though so yeah.
The chapter also shows albeit only slightly Hirokazu's pov when it comes to killing. Now, this is the second part where we see Hiro's problem when it comes to his mind. You see I believe that a normal person won't ever consider killing someone not unless they have no other choice and backed into a corner. Here in this chapter, Hirokazu's determination in killing anyone that harms Sayaka shows that he is mentally unstable and a little possessive when it comes to Sayaka and her well-being.
Heng, hopefully, ya'll understand what I'm trying to say.
