Yangren final part

Once in the trench Yun prepared for the enemy to attack them. They could see the enemy approach as Yun was holding his spear ready to attack once they are near enough.

The Archers on the wall began to release their arrows as they hit some of the approaching enemies thinning out their numbers before they hit the barricades. At that moment the soldiers in the trenches used their spears and attacked killing the enemy swiftly.

Yun was between his men while doing the same as blood was slowly covering his armor from the enemies they killed.

But shortly after the enemy retreated seeing that they couldn't pass through the barricades when Yun jumped out of the trench he was in and kills another soldier before the cavalry chase after the enemy.

Yun was standing over the enemy he just killed drenched in blood as he turns around and shouts, "You have fought well today. But we should retreat into the town for now and clean ourselves as well as tend to the injured."

Hang Zhong arrived by his side and asks, "Should we leave everything standing?"

"Yes, there is no need for us to hide any longer since we revealed ourselves. But we should collect the weapons and arrows," says Yun as Huang Zhong nods before he enters the town.

He walks into the house he was occupying at the moment as he cleaned his face and hair while the armor and weapon were doing their part of absorbing the blood of the fallen.

Yun then went to look for Sun Jian who was in the company of his sons and his Commanders. They were accommodated in the same house since Yun didn't want to burden the other civilians even more as they were already sharing their houses with his soldiers.

"So I can lead out of the battle I just fought that you weren't successful in taking Liangdong. How many men have you lost in your retreat?" asks Yun as he needed to know the exact number to build up a defensive strategy until they move out.

"We have lost two thousand men in our retreat towards Yangren while one of our commanders is still is missing," says a stocky man that was tanned.

"And you are?" asks Yun as the man cups his hands together.

"Huang Gai and this is my officer, Han Dang," says Huang Gai introducing also Han Dang to Yun.

"Nice to meet you two," says Yun cupping his hands together as well before he turns to Sun Jian.

"You should rest here for a while and recuperated your strength," says Yun as he walks towards the door.

"We will need to hold out here for a while before we move out again. I have to look and see if my men are alright," says Yun as he knew that he must have lost some of his men in the battle even if it was only a handful of them.

He left the house and he finds Hua returning with the cavalry and asks, "How was your first battle?"

"It was exciting and fearful at the same time. One mistake and it is you who ends up dead except of the enemy," says Hua as he was full of adrenaline.

"You should rest and clean yourself up, that goes for all of you. We don't want our hosts to smell how bad we stink," says Yun as he smiled at them since dry blood was one of the most horrible stenches only trumped by a corpse that started to decay.

"Anyway, clean your horses before cleaning yourself that way you only need to clean yourself once," says Yun as he left for the gate.

There he finds Tang Shi commanding the soldiers that are collecting the weapons and arrows from the battlefield when Yun says, "They are working hard."

"They are," says Tang Shi as he was inspecting the barricades since they have taken some damage from the assault.

"Will the barricades hold for another attack?" asks Yun as Tang Shi nods.

"At maximum two if the first isn't strong," says Tang Shi as they walked for a while inspecting the barricades together.

"So how many have we lost?" asks Yun as Tang Shi smiles at him.

"Always coming to mean when you want to hear the bad news are we," says Tang Shi knowing that Yun would always come to him to hear the number.

"Well, we have only three people that died. They were too overconfident and left the trenches to attack the enemy directly. But we have twenty injured soldiers, three of them are heavy. We don't know if they will survive," says Tang Shi as they arrived at the gate again.

"Less than I expected," says Yun surprised as Tang Shi wasn't really surprised by that since he saw the whole battle from the wall and it was a crushing defeat for the enemy going by the corpses laying on the ground.

"We are anticipating a second attack this week," says Tang Shi as it was Pang Tong who told him that the enemy might attack in less than a week again.

"I think the same. We are too close to the capital to ignore us even more so if they read the banner holding my family name. They will send a bigger force," says Yun as he looked towards the north.

"Lu Bu will be between the enemies that will attack us right?" asks Tang Shi worried since Yun and Lu Bu are friends.

"That he will. He wouldn't dare to pass on a chance to fight against me even if it was in the war," says Yun when he sighs when he continues, "I wish I had the voluntary army here right now so I could send Guan Yu to fight him."

"Why did you let them leave again?" asks Tang Shi as he was still confused why Yun let Liu Bei leave his army when the Emperor died.

"You will see it sooner or later," says Yun as he let them go to gain some favor with Guan Yu.

"Anyway, we should concentrate on our actual problem," says Yun as Tang Shi nods.

"Our provisions are running low and Yuan Shu still hasn't sent us more since before winter," says Tang Shi as Yun nods.

"Yes, and now we also have Sun Jian and his men in our camp which will drain our non-existing resources even more," says Yun since Sun Jian lost his provisions while retreating.

"Do you think Yuan Shu is trying to starve us to death?" asks Tang Shi nervous as he saw a dangerous glint in Yun's eyes.

"If he dares to do so we will resort to the most inhumane way to survive," says Yun as he looked at the battlefield.

"If Yuan Shu doesn't send us soon food we will resort to cannibalism," says Yun as Tang Shi looked in the same direction.

"So we are going to cut the corpses apart," says Tang Shi as Yun nods.

"But keep it to yourself. I don't want the others to find out that they are eating human flesh. This could cause an uproar in our camp," says Yun as he didn't want to feed his men like that.

"Maybe we should send someone to Luyang to talk to Yuan Shu to sent us provision while we try to survive on the little provision we still have," says Tang Shi when Yun smiles.

"Or we sent someone that will be enraged when he finds out that we don't have enough provision to feed everyone in this town," says Yun as he left Tang Shi standing in confusion while he returned to the house he was staying in.

He finds Sun Jian talking to Cheng Pu and Huang Gai and says, "Can I have a moment of your time?"

"Of course, friend. What do you need from us?" asks Sun Jian as he knew Yun wouldn't come to them if it isn't important.

"I can't send one of my men to Yuan Shu since every single one is needed to hold this camp. So I want to ask of you to send a messenger to Yuan Shu to ask for more provisions since ours is almost gone. I already asked for more supplies but Yuan Shu still hasn't sent us some," says Yun which made Sun Jian angry since Yuan Shu was only sitting in Luyang doing nothing while they were risking their lives to dethrone Dong Zhuo.

"I will go myself. I think that Yuan Shu has forgotten that we can just change sides and support Dong Zhuo instead of him," says Sun Jian angry as Cheng Pu and Huang Gai tried to calm him down since it would be dangerous if someone heard what he just said.

Yun cups his hands together while giving a slight bow to Sun Jian while saying his thanks for his support in this matter.

'With this, we will be able to begin our campaign towards Luoyang without problems,' thinks Yun as Sun Jian leaves right away to get his horse.

Huang Gai joined him just to make sure that his lord wouldn't come to harm while traveling to Luyang. Sun Ce and Sun Quan were left behind since Yangren was safer than Luyang with Sun Jian's army there.

In the meantime in Zhending, Diao Chan was looking over the twins as they were riding on the Tigers as if they were horses. She was drinking her tea when her mother- and sister-in-law arrived bringing sweets for the twins.

"How are my favorite grandchildren doing today?" asks Madam Su as she sat down when the Tigers sprinted towards her.

They stopped at her feet when the twins jumped into her arms while shouting happily, "Grandma!"

Madam Su couldn't hold her balance as the twins were too much for her as Qing needed to step in and place her hand on her mother's back holding her up while Diao Chan shouted at the twins, "What do you think you are doing!"

"I'm sorry mother," says Diao Chan as she grabbed her twins by their ears while saying, "You will be punished later."

"Don't worry, Diao Chan. Kids are like that when they are young even Hua and Qing did those things to their grandparents," says Madam Su as she recovered when Diao Chan let go of them.

"What do you say," says Diao Chan seriously as the twins were holding their red ear.

"I'm sorry, grandma," say both at the same time when Madam Su petted their head.

"We bought some sweets while coming so how about we eat them while we play some chess," says Madam Su with a smile as they retreated to the backyard to enjoy the sun.
