The Battle of Guandu final part

Yun and all the soldiers in the trench with him rushed out of the second trench towards the first trench into which the enemy cavalry fell in. They stabbed the horses and enemy soldiers showing no mercy as they killed them.

Yun was looking out on his flanks seeing that the enemy changed strategy with the remaining cavalry retreating instead of attacking. He looked in the distance seeing Xiahou Yuan and Wei Yan killing off some cavalrymen when the clear sky slowly turned dark as the sun was slowly being hidden away by dark clouds which didn't give Yun a good feeling.

The last time he saw dark clouds over a battlefield his wife was taken from him. His skin was standing up as rain began to fall upon the battlefield making his second strategy now useless which was to use fire to encircle the enemy leaving them no way but to fight against them on his terms.

'A bad omen,' says Ysmrgra remembering what happened last time a storm appeared over the battlefield.

'Nothing like that,' says Yun not believing in bad omens.

He believed that his fate is written by the decisions he is taking over the time he is alive. He knows that Gods exist but they won't decide his fate nor the fate of his close ones if he has a word in it.

The rain was slowly filling the trenches and the enemy repositioned themselves better while Yun and Xiahou Yuan try to hold their soldiers back to not show an opening in their formation since they are defending Guandu.

The enemy still doesn't know that Cao Cao isn't in Guandu and that Yun was defending Guandu since everything in their little exchange went by too fast for anyone to recognize Yun since the ones that could do so are laying in a trench filled with blood and water.

The enemy now began their second attempt on taking Guandu. Yun grasped his spear tightly as he commands his troops to build the first and second line.

It was precautions for the next move the enemy was going to pull against him. The enemy slowly approached which wasn't favorable but it wasn't a disadvantage as well since it would be hard to hold the line on the muddy earth. Their footing wasn't solid making it possible to be pushed back further than normal or even slip and drop injuring themselves because of the slippery ground.

Yun was thinking about changing his strategy but it was too late for that since the storm got stronger and the rain would overshadow his voice making it impossible for his men to hear him.

The enemy was just before them when Yun placed his spear between two shields which everyone slowly copied from the second line making the enemy run into a spiked shield wall.

The first enemies got pierced by the spears before the second enemies hit the shields moving the line as they pleased because of the poor footing when Yun suddenly let go of his spear and he pulled two daggers out from behind his back which were strapped to his belt.

He rushes in knowing that it would be a chaotic battle since the storm was making it difficult for everyone but he had an advantage over everyone which was called Hermes.

He learned from Hermes how to fight chaotically and now it seemed to be the best moment to show what he had learned as he rushed at the enemy. The enemy swings his sword at Yun who only listened to his instincts and jumps doing a somersault before spinning and cutting the soldier's head.

Yun lands and another soldier tries to stab him only for Yun to use the muddy ground and slip on it making him fall to the ground.

The sword missed him again and he then places his hands on the muddy ground before using his strength to make a handstand before spinning his body, hitting the hand of the enemy with one foot.

The enemy was thrown off-balance by this when he suddenly sees the other foot coming for his head hitting him and sending him to the ground while Yun used the momentum to get to his feet again.

The soldier was still alive but not for long as Yun killed him using his daggers. Chaos was reigning on the battlefield thanks to the storm and both sides knew that and tried to take advantage of it.

People were dying on both sides mostly because of their own mistakes since the earth made them slip making them either kill their enemy or leave themselves wide open for the enemy to kill them.

Hua, Lu Bu, and Zhang Liao took the field with the cavalry trying to reduce the damage on their side by splitting the small cavalry unit in three smaller units to span over the whole battlefield.

Yun was running around the battlefield with his daggers making it look easy to fight in the storm as he dodges blades from left and right while killing his enemy.

He looked like he had no balance at all the whole time in the enemy's eyes as he acrobatically evades the attacks while killing his opponent.

Yun was standing over a corpse when a blade came for him horizontally forcing him to bend his body backward to evade the attack. It made him look like his body was floating a bit over the ground before he placed his hands on the ground to use the energy he generated to lift his feet off the ground to kick his enemy.

The first foot sent the helmet flying before the second hit the enemy at the right temple knocking him out. Yun was soon on his feet again and killed the enemy when he sees two people looking at him.

They seemed to be the Generals in charge of the attack. Yun turned around and saw only carnage behind himself before looking at them again.

"This war will be over soon! I recommend you to surrender and join Cao Cao if you want to survive after this war is over!" shouts Yun at them so they could hear him.

They looked at him confused when one of them asks, "What do you mean this war is over?! It just started?!"

"Did it really?! As far as I know, the war ended the moment Yuan Shao decided to attack Guandu instead of defending Wuchao! Cao Cao must have marched toward Yuanwu while we are fighting! Do you think that Yuan Shao will be able to defend himself in Yuanwu surrounded by Cao Cao's army?!

You all are on Deadman's Land abandoned by Yuan Shao who too became power-hungry because of his previous victory against Gongsun Zan! Now, he will be paying the price, but will you pay the same price, or will you surrender?!" shouts Yun at them trying to convince them to surrender when one rushes at Yun.

"For Yuan Shao!" shouts one of them before charging Yun.

Yun only sighs after hearing that as the person slips and falls. He tries to stand up again but Yun was faster and rammed his daggers into the neck of his enemy before splitting the head from the neck.

Yun then looked at the other man who dropped his sword but his eyes weren't the eyes of a dead man but of a man that saw an opportunity.

He put his hand over his fist and surrendered to Yun by shouting, "I, Commander Zhang He, surrender to you, General Zhao!"

Yun was pleased that he didn't kill Zhang He by accident since he had never met him before to his knowledge.

It took a while before the battle could be stopped because of the storm and it was hard to see who died and who didn't.

Dian Wei was the whole time beside Yun trying to protect his Lord or better said trying to keep up with him.

"It seems we won again even when we lost a lot of men in this battle because of the weather," says Dian Wei seriously when Yun notices that his father was missing.

"Where is the old man?" asks Yun himself as he looked around with Dian Wei.

Soon worry became over Yun and Dian Wei as they asked soldiers that fought beside them but in all the hassle they seemed to have lost him from their sight.

Yun returned to the battlefield hoping that his father was only a straggler like many others that arrived late because they were exhausted and needed some time to rest before joining the rest.

"My Lord, I-I found him!" shouts Dian Wei towards Yun who was turning corpses over.

Yun rushed over to where Dian Wei was kneeling. Yun still had hope since Dian Wei was examining Xian's body while he rushed over only to find Dian Wei standing up and turning around toward Yun.

Yun wanted to pass Dian Wei to see his father but Dian Wei stopped him in his tracks because he saw the hope in Yun's eyes.

"My Lord, your father is dead," says Dian Wei sadly Yun looked at Dian Wei confused not wanting to believe what Dian Wei just said taking it as if he heard it wrong because of the wind.

"Stop joking, Dian Wei," says Yun not wanting to believe it when he saw Dian Wei's expression.

Yun knew that expression since he only saw it once before and that was when Yun's wife died. It was helplessness because he couldn't prevent the death of a person close to his Lord.

Yun turned to the corpse of his father and saw three swords had pierced his body from three different angles while enemy soldiers seemed to lay around him.

Sometime before the battle ended, Xian was seeing his sons in the distance one on his horse while the other was using two daggers instead of his spear.

Xian was trying to keep up with the younger folk as he killed the enemy before him when he realized that he was surrounded by the enemy.

"So it's like this, you all need to gang-up on an old man. Well, let me show you that you choose the wrong target," says Xian as he gathered all his strength when he suddenly feels something piercing him.

He saw a blade coming out of his chest and he begins to roar into the sky and turns around to kill the person that pierced him. Xian saw a young man which seemed to be the same age as his grandchildren when he suddenly stopped his attack.

Suddenly he felt two more blades entering his body and Xian coughed up blood spitting it over the young man. Xian only smiled and looked like an unkillable demon as Xian suddenly spun his spear to take as many enemy soldiers with him as possible while sparing the young man who fled the battlefield after seeing Xian kill ten men even with three swords through his body.

Xian could feel his strength leaving him so he used all he had to not let go of his spear instead of keeping himself upright making him fall to the ground.

He could feel the rain hit his face as he thought, 'It seems I am not granted a peaceful death. I hope my sons don't suffer the same fate.'

He closes his eyes and opens them again and he sees a woman with black hair and eyes staring back at him before stretching her hand towards him while saying, "Your daughter-in-law is waiting for you. Take my hand and I will take you to her."

Xian tries to take her hand which seemed the easiest in the world when he feels as if he was pulled out of something and he turned around seeing his lifeless body.

Xian turned to the woman and asks, "Are you really taking me to her?"

"Yes," says the woman as she opened a dark portal while saying, "You just need to pass through the portal and you will meet her. She is my friend after all."

"I will trust your words," says Xian trying not to sound distrustful as he passes through the portal leaving the World of the Living.

Back in the present, Yun walked over and took his father's corpse into his arms and began to cry which couldn't be seen because raindrops were running down his face as well. He roared at the sky with all his might cursing it while Thunder could be heard and Lightning was hitting the ground.

Soon the others found Yun who was mourning with Dian Wei before joining them. Hua was beside Yun crying his eyes out while screaming and Wei Yan was only crying with them.

Lu Bu was mourning with Yun for a moment before leaving him alone since he didn't know Xian as well as the rest of his family while Zhang Liao offered his condolence.

After a while, Yun, Hua, Dian Wei, and Wei Yan carried Xian into camp with his spear. Yun wanted to take him back to Puyang to give him the last rites before incinerating him to take him with him to Xiapi and one day back to Zhending to bury him there as he wanted it.
