The Zhang Fei Incident

Yun recovered after four hours of sleep as he woke up looking down upon his hands before standing up having a bad feeling in his gut. He stood up and walked toward where his army should be since Cao Ren retreated his army was the only one left chasing Liu Bei.

Yun began to walk using the Jade Emperor's Footwork which allowed him to traverse a hundred meters with each step he took which consumed a lot of his Qi but Yun wanted to get to his army as fast as possible.

He soon caught up with his army as he could see the rear marching ahead of him. This made him stop as he was looking like his real self instead of his current self.

'Ythyleit, I need some help here,' says Yun as he still doesn't know how to shapeshift needing to rely on Ythyleit to help him.

'Of course, just a second,' says Ythyleit as Yun's hair and face slowly turned back.

He then walked up to the rear of his army who pointed their weapons at him before one asks, "Who looms there?"

"It's me, I have returned," says Yun revealing himself to his men who were happy as they let him advance further into the inner circle of the marching army finding so Pang Tong who was sharing at the moment with Tang Shi a horse.

"I see that you have returned and without my horse which means that you owe me one," says Pang Tong happy to see Yun again while joking about his horse missing knowing full well that it must have died when Yun engaged the enemy.

"We heard that a God named Zhurong descended from Heaven to punish those who tried to harm the innocent. I heard that he even killed Cao Cao's cousin and crippled his Elite Cavalry," says Tang Shi stating what he heard while Yun just looks at them with a mischievous smile on his face.

"I don't know what you are talking about," says Yun denying it as Thunder approaches him.

Thunder rubbed his head against Yun before licking his cheek showing that he missed Yun those days as a scarecrow wearing a copy of Yun's armor sitting on top of Thunder.

Yun had changed some simple robes to look like his armor while his armor looked like the simple robes he transformed. He touched the armor and they slowly changed back to robes while the robes he was wearing were changing back to his armor with Ythyleit's help.

"This feels more natural," says Yun looking down upon his armor before turning to Pang Tong and asking, "How are we advancing?"

"We should catch up to Liu Bei by tomorrow. We also used Hua's retreat to from the battlefield with Lady Gan, her daughters, and servants to our advantage by saying that Zhurong made him retreat," says Pang Tong explaining to Yun what happened in his absence.

"I want to increase the marching speed now that I have returned," says Yun seriously as he pulls the scarecrow from his saddle before sitting upon it.

"Are you sure?" asks Tang Shi confused since Yun never increased the speed of their marching before.

"Yes, I don't want to kill Liu Bei but we can't let him get to Jiangling as he is planning to do. We need to chase him away to the Han River so he regroups with Guan Yu and flees to Xiakou to make an alliance with Sun Quan," says Yun as he feared that Liu Bei would hide himself in Jiangling if they weren't fast enough which would make his workload increase against Cao Cao since he would have to fight Cao Cao with only Sun Quan's help.

"You, inform the Vanguard to march faster. We need to catch up to that weasel named Liu Bei," says Tang Shi ordering one of the men around them to rely on said command so they can catch up to Liu Bei.

"What do we do with Lady Gan and her company?" asks Pang Tong as Yun seems to have forgotten about them.

"Don't they have a carriage?" asks Yun confused as Pang Tong nods only for Yun to say, "Then they won't suffer as much as our soldiers since horses must be pulling the carriage."

"She won't like that at all," says Pang Tong having to deal the whole time with Lady Gan complaining about everything while feeding her newborn son.

"I don't care about her liking it. She should be happy to still be breathing thanks to my brother finding her because if it was a person loyal to Cao Cao she would have been dead or worse," says Yun coldly as he wasn't going to put up with a spoiled woman while he is fighting a big war in the shadows.

"Who is leading the Vanguard?" asks Yun curiously since he couldn't see Dian Wei nor Zhang He near them just some of their men to keep appearances of making Yun or better said the scarecrow their most important asset.

"That would be Huang Zhong with the help of Taishi Ci and Fang," says Pang Tong informing Yun about it.

Yun suddenly felt a shiver pass his back when Pang Tong continues, "Dian Wei and Zhang He are beside him as well as Sima Yi. They aren't letting him out of sight."

"I hope so," says Yun not letting his instincts to protect his son overwhelm him since he is the Leader of this Great Army.

Fang still needed to gain more merit and in joining the Vanguard he was going to earn it fairly instead of other youngsters who rely on their father's success and ride on it their lifetime.

Yun trusted Dian Wei and Zhang He with his life or he wouldn't have them constantly beside him when he traveled into enemy territory to watch his rear.

They continued marching upon reaching a bridge which Yun remembered very well since he read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms as well as the History Tome containing the information about what really happened in those times with this being one of the identical passages in both of them.

"I AM ZHANG YIDE, COME AND BATTLE ME TO THE DEATH!" shouts Zhang Fei standing before the giant army when he realizes that the banner the army was waving wasn't blue as he expected but black.

'Fuck!' was the only thing going through Zhang Fei's mind at that moment as it wasn't Cao Cao's army standing before him but his real nemesis and his army.

"ZHAO YUN, SHOW YOURSELF IF YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO FIGHT ME!" shouts Zhang Fei furious with himself but he couldn't turn back now since he was playing for time so Liu Bei could escape to the East while he and twenty of his men were stalling the enemy.

"Do you think your smoke signals scare me? I know that you only have a handful of men beside you trying to gain some time for Liu Bei so he can escape," says Yun knowing the truth behind Zhang Fei's plan.

"That might be the case," says Zhang Fei seeing Yun in the middle of his army when he engulfs his twin-headed spear in his Fire Qi and throws it at Yun who doesn't move out of its way while he hears, "BUT YOU WON'T LIVE ANYLONGER!"

The spear traveled towards Yun who caught it by engulfing his left hand in Lightning Qi before taunting Zhang Fei, "Is that all you have for me?"

Zhang Fei was fuming now as he began to throw more spears which he had on the bridge with him randomly into the crowd which got caught up by surprise by it.

They thought that Zhang Fei was going to duel Yun but that wasn't what Zhang Fei wanted to do. He wanted to create chaos since chaos would create more time for Liu Bei.

Yun had a bad feeling as Zhang Fei began to throw those spears at his army who got caught off-guard by this attack when Yun heard metal clashing against metal.

Yun didn't pay too much attention to it as he saw it as collateral damage when he heard a roar coming from someone he knew too well.

He looks to his right and sees a furious Huang Zhong aiming with his heavy bow and a metal arrow engulfed in Earth Qi at Zhang Fei releasing the arrow which went directly at Zhang Fei who uses one of the spears he had on the bridge to block the arrow which broke the spear he used.

Yun ignored what just happened because he saw why Huang Zhong was furious as his blood froze just in this moment since the person hit wasn't Huang Xu who he thought was hit since Huang Zhong was completely mad.

No, it was someone who was lying right now in another man's arm which Yun trusted with his life. Yun jumped from Thunder's back as he rushed back to where the wounded person was and saw Dian Wei holding someone in his arms with a spear going right through his chest.

'This can't be-,' was all that went through Yun's head as he saw Zhang He on his knees with Sima Yi beside him surrounding the wounded man.

Yun's legs seemed to have lost their strength as he fell to his knees realizing that it was his son, Fang, lying in Dian Wei's arms while he saw a woman beside them.

"No, don't ta-," says Yun toward the woman who touches Fang's shoulder pulling his soul out of his body.

Fang gasped his last breath right there as nobody could survive a spear going through their heart. Yun looked at the woman who only looked at him with pity in her eyes since she didn't want to kill his son but it was her duty to collect the souls of the dead.

Yun's eyes turned blood red as his body began to move out of rage grasping his son's spear before using all of his Qi and placing it upon the spear engulfing it in Darkness Qi before throwing it in rage at Zhang Fei.

The spear pulverized not able to withstand the Qi but the Darkness Qi still traveled toward Zhang Fei before hitting him piercing him through the left shoulder and severing his left arm from his torso.

"ZHANG FEI, I WILL KILL YOU FOR WHAT YOU DID TODAY!" shouts Yun in fury before he coughed blood out of his mouth from overusing his Qi and collapsing right there.
