With that, the two started discussing and preparing for all the meetings that they would have to attend the next day. Leah listened attentively to whatever her assistant had to say and made sure to take down notes at the same time. The situation was similar to that of a tutor and student who were trying their best to prepare for the exam the next day.

Time passed in the blink of an eye that they even forgot to have lunch. It was 4:00 p.m. and Leah decided that it was enough for the day. Anymore of cramming the reports and her brain would crash from the overload. Besides, she still needed time to wrap her head around everything that happened that day.

Wu Chen too decided that it was time he took his leave so that his boss to go through things over by herself. "Ma'am, if there is anything you need, you can call me at any time. You don't need to act reserved in giving out directives." He offered before leaving.

"Okay." she said. She was grateful that she didn't have to do all this alone. But when she turned around and saw the stack of reports that she had to memorize, she thought otherwise. She decided to take a break for a while and went to check the bags that Wu Chen had brought in earlier.

The big bag contained all painting materials such as canvases and sketch books, acrylic and oil paints and all sorts of crayons and pencils. She looked at it blankly and decided to put it aside. The contents of the smaller bag lit up her face with a huge, bright smile. It contained two air tight containers. One packed with brownies and the other with chocolate chip cookies.

There was a note accompanying the package which read,

Leah quickly typed a thank you message after searching Meixue's contact in her phone's diary. She sent it only after having the typed content checked by Wu Chen.

Leah was happy. A small note like this lifted her worries a little for some unknown reason. She skipped to the kitchen and prepared a cup of instant coffee. Maybe it was because of the brownies and cookies that Meixue lovingly prepared for her that surprisingly, the instant coffee didn't taste as bad as it did in the morning. She didn't dwell on that and started going through the reports and she ate her snacks.

By the time she was done with the reports in the evening, Wu Chen brought her an additional file on information regarding the board of directors and other key personnel of L&L Corporation both in Country C and Country L. He also brought along her dinner and quickly escaped from there when he saw Leah's hateful glare that was directed at him. But he couldn't stay to help because he had to prepare for the next day and had be extra careful because of the situation at hand. He'd definitely be working overtime today.

After Wu Chen ran away, Leah quickly showered and decided to have an early dinner so that she could finish reading the new file. Thankfully, this one was a piece of cake compared to the one earlier. She made sure she was well prepared for the next day and only then put down the files in her hand.

Leah was tired as she didn't rest or even take a nap. However, she couldn't fall asleep. She was restless as she kept turning around on her bed. She even counted sheep and played some classical music after searching about it on google but she was still wide awake.

She thought of something and the quickly got out of bed and headed towards the study. She took out the black box from the bottom most drawer. She held the black box in her hand and an envelope which she was sure was not there when she placed the black box in the drawer earlier. She had ensured that she had locked the drawer and kept the key with her all the time. She was sure that no one else entered the study as well. The study could only be accessed through her finger print which would be recorded the moment she touched the door handle. Leah had noticed this before and observed that it was the same with her bedroom as well.

Leah put the envelope and the box in her pocket and grabbed a pair of scissors which was the best weapon she could find from the drawer and at the same time dialed Wu Chen's number to call him immediately if something were to go wrong. She carefully checked every corner of the study and the entire apartment. After making sure that there was no trespasser she returned back to the study and sat on the chair facing the window that overlooked the city.

The glass reflected her troubled look. Leah turned her attention to the box again. She first decided to open the letter.

"Lu Xiuying aka Leah Lu,

I am well aware that you are extremely inconvenienced by your current situation, but trust me I didn't want this to happen either. For this I humbly apologize as it was unintentionally caused by me.

I am really really sorry for dragging you into this mess. I meant no harm.

As a sign of my sincere apology I have prepared for you a device that will be of great help you. It is my masterpiece known as Third Eye so please take good care of it.

This seemingly plain black box that you've already received from Wu Chen is actually quite special.
