SAME GRACE AND POISE

"Sir, please pardon my intrusion but the CEO of L&L Corporation has arrived with her team." Li Mingyu announced after receiving the permission to enter.

Zheng Yi Feng elegantly glance at his watch and nodded in approval. There were still five minutes left to the contract signing. He then glanced at his grandfather who definitely looked excited and nodded his head in resignation. His grandfather was resolute and hell bent in getting what he wanted.

He sighed internally and decided to head to the conference room. There was no way Old Master Zheng would stay away from this particular event so he tagged along as well even though he needn't be there. Whatever it was, it would definitely be interesting.

.....

At the conference room, Leah finally started feeling nervous though it was barely noticeable though her expressions. She closed her eyes and tried to calm herself. She couldn't stop running her fingers over the black diamond ring as if seeking for some sort of assurance or comfort from it. Leah was not worried about the project. She just didn't want to risk exposing her current state of affairs. Wu Chen warned her ceaselessly about CEO Zheng's keen observations and she had to be extra mindful around him.

She was determined to pull through today and no one was allowed to bring her down. She didn't cry or fall weak earlier, so she'd definitely brave it all today and for the days to come.

After some moments a gentle knock on the door announced the arrival of CEO Zheng and his team. Everyone stood up to greet however all movements stopped at the unexpected arrival of the chairman of the Phoenix Group, the renowned businessman in Country C. Leah recovered from her wandering thoughts and greeted him with a bow and a soft diplomatic smile, her team promptly following her example. She praised herself for having read of all the key figures in the business even if it was just enough to recognize them.

She then turned towards Zheng Yi Feng and did the same. She was definitely awed by his handsome disposition but made sure not to let her gaze linger on him for too long. Well who wouldn't love to feast their eyes on an eye candy? But it was not the time to be shameless. Pushing those thoughts at the back of her mind, she returned back to being the businesswoman she was known for.

Throughout the time Leah could feel the stares of two pairs of probing eyes. She knew that they didn't mean any ill intent but was so uncomfortable that she could focus on the final draft of the contract in her hand. Leah did her best to avoid thinking about it and consulted her attorney and deemed to contract agreement satisfactory.

The contract signing went on smoothly. "Well, CEO Zheng, We're looking forward to a successful cooperation." Leah said with the same polite and diplomatic smile as she offered her hand. Zheng Yi Feng looked at her for a moment before clasping his hands with hers. He felt a strange emotion as he held her soft fair hands in his. He quickly let goof her hand before replying monotonously, "likewise."

Leah noticed his actions but didn't think much of it. She then bowed to Chairman Zheng courteously which was acknowledged by him.

"Lu Xiuying, you had the same grace and poise that your grandmother the last time I met you two years back. But now your growth astounds me. It's a pity that this world didn't get to see her crazy capabilities. But I'm sure she must be proud of you."

'Lu Xiuying'. Not only Leah, but Wu Chen and Zheng Yi Feng were taken aback as well by the words Old Master Zheng spoke of. This time Leah couldn't hide her shocked expression, though, she quickly regained her composure .No one was supposed to know her real name as it was ensured that her information would remain tightly guarded. The only explanation was that Old Master Zheng was acquainted with her grandmother. She had to find out more about this matter.

Old Master Zheng realized that he had said a bit too much and he looked at her apologetically. Leah who had masked her expression merely returned an assuring smiled to the elderly man.

...…

"Did you know about me meeting Chairman Zheng two years back?" Leah asked once she was seated in her car. "No ma'am. Considering that you've hardly ever been to Country C and that too for business purposes and on extremely short stays, I can guarantee that you've not met Chairman Zheng in this country. This means that you must have encountered him in country A when I may not have been around. "

"Well then, can you find out more about it?" Leah asked to which he nodded in reply. Leah had this feeling that she should know about this meeting. Only if the ring could tell her about it, things would have been easier to handle. She looked at the ring on her finger and let out an exhausted sigh.
