break

I was on my way back to my room, a deepening pain flooded my heart. Stirring, I began to mope.

Tommy was there standing just outside his door in the hallway. I only glanced at him from the side of my vision as I walked by. He always looks so disgusted when he sees me.

Whatever, he's the one with the problem. Probably just jealous of how ridiculously cool I am, heck, even I can understand that.

"Cat brain!" he tries so hard to insult me, but it's so weak that I can't help but to laugh. Laughter is good for the soul after all.

"What's so funny huh?!"

My face had probably turned just a little bit red, it seems I over did it a bit a little with the laughing.

"It's just the 'cat brain' thing, what kind of name is that supposed to be anyway? It's so bad, I can't even be mad." I sighed my last giggle, it felt good.

As I twisted the doorknob to my room something hard hit me in the back of my head. My hat hit the ground and rolled around on it's brim.

When I turned around the next impact hit my lip, it was already sore from where I bit it out of frustration. It seems Tommy decided to give me a sucker punch. Thus, a river of blood came flowing out dripping onto the floor.

For a moment Tommy himself was taken aback by the sight of the red fluid, or perhaps it was the furry ears on top of my head. Probably that.

Anyways, in his moment of hesitation I seized the opportunity and retaliated. I wasn't so angry that I wanted to fight, but for some reason when I hit Tommy back I hit him hard. Harder than I had intended to for sure.

My knuckles clipped his chin so quick I could hear his jaw clink shut. He went directly to the ground. Unfortunately, the other kids appeared from the room behind Tommy. It was my unlucky day, just like yesterday and the day before that and so on and so forth.

"Why don't you go play with some yarn or something"

"Look at those ears, what a weirdo!"

They were ganging up on me, classic case of bullying right here. Only, aside from usual, they were getting pretty hostile this time around. Probably because I just gave their precious bully king a good one two buckle the shoe. Like BAM! No really though, that was pretty badass I do wish I caught it on video or something. I show it to Tommy every time he calls me 'cat brain' and laugh menacingly with a creepy smile or something.

"Here you go cat brain, I got you some yarn to play with!"

That was when one of the kids named Austin actually pulled out a literal ball of yarn. I was shocked that he came so prepared for this joke, really putting some real effort into this whole bully thing aren't you man? Well, alright then.

"Oh, that's thoughtful. Thanks bro!" I waved and smiled, then took the yarn out of his hand. No I don't actually want it, okay? Alright, maybe I do have a little desire deep down to play with it later.

After picking up my hat I closed the door behind me, separating myself from the angry mob. A thunderous thud to the door from the other side, one of them probably kicked it most likely Austin.

Hey, if you want your yarn back you shouldn't have offered it to me in the first place! You should've known I'm gonna play with the strings! I am part cat after all, it is indeed why they call me cat brain.

Basically, the way I see it, that is one point for me and zero points for them. Ayyyeeee. Not really though.

Darkness seemed to creep in from all corners of the room, I don't know if I like where this is going.

It was at 3 o' clock in the morning that death struck. Ms. Teresa was found hanging in the hallway.

  We were all horrified.

It was a sight that burned into my mind. I was the only one who saw the woman with the red ribbon standing beside Teresa's swinging corpse. Her hair covered her face, though, I knew she was staring back at all of us. We were just a bunch of screaming children at the other end of the hallway.

The rest slammed their doors shut and hid in their rooms until the police came. For a brief moment, only I was out in the hallway though she never moved her eyes. That was when I realized it. The woman wasn't staring at the children, more specifically, she was only staring at me.

Was she conscious of the fact that I can see her? A wave of dreadfulness passed over me as I went back into my room and closed the door behind me. Though, just on the other side I could hear a raspy broken whisper.

"…please…"
