Transmigration (1)

It went without saying that the Luminary crystals were the most powerful source of energy in the universe. With only a pound, one could boost their power to a point where they could move from one Grade to another, albeit the smaller ones. This was such a powerful boost in power that it could be considered a cheat. However, despite it being so awesome, it had several restrictions.

Firstly, it was not naturally occurring. It was one of those resources that had to be cultivated. The way to grow it wasn't also available for normal mortals. It was grown by cultivating the worship of mortals. This was a feat achievable only by those at the level of gods. This meant that the crystals were inaccessible to commoners despite them being used as currency in certain corners. The wealthier and more powerful corners.

Secondly, the crystal had too many restrictions on its usage. This was to be expected of a power source, but even the handling and cutting had to be done by professionals otherwise one risked losing an entire batch completely.

The Hexham gems could be said to be more readily available. Their advantage was that they were naturally occurring, which meant that they could be mined. They were still quite rare to common galactic folks, compared to the crystals, they were easier to find.

The energy yield obtained from a Hexham mine paled in comparison to the power contained in a single crystal. Similarly, the energy in Hexham gems could be considered volatile and was not suitable for mortals to consume.

Interesting fact, the jades that Duma, Dane's vasilian doppelganger, presented to Barcova as valuable commodities were by-products exuded by the mine where Dane, in his Dragon form, was absorbing energy. The only way that mortals could consume the gems was if the energy had somehow been reduced. Even the gems that Kedan gave to Kayla had had their power absorbed to limit their volatility.

An interesting feature that happened in Hexham mines was the formation of crevices. The cracks within the Hexham gems would become collection points for all that energy that was being given off by the naturally occurring gems.

If the crack was wide enough, the power collected would begin to influence the gems around it, transforming it.

For you who don't know, a Hexham gem was mostly just a green looking gem. Nothing much special about it. However, once it began to decay, a word coined by some geologist, it started to give off energy.

At the state of decay, if it was continuously exposed to such power, it would then begin to evolve and become something different, a whole new element. This element was commonly known as the Mana stone. Mana stones were extremely potent, but also extremely easy to manipulate. They could be synthesized easily, making consumables suitable for mortals was not even hard. All in all, they were the most suited.

However, they had their share of problems. The first being their rarity. A Hexham gem mine was rare enough, but one that had this kind of crevice was even rarer. Even with the crevice, it wasn't a guarantee that it would form a Manatite vein.

Secondly, mining it was extremely difficult. This was because the veins where it was found had volatile energy around it. Without proper protection, no one below Grade D, or lesser immortal, could survive such an environment. Even Grade C Supers such as Kedan would be uncomfortable.

Needless to say, for those that could, this was a holy ground for training and absorbing energy. Even gods were known to have such caverns where they would spend their quiet time in, the energy acting as both a power source and a relaxer and at the same time a deterrent for any would-be attacker.

Dane was using his Dragon form in his main body to absorb energy. It made sense since it was the largest and had more energy points of entry. Dragons were made to be at the pinnacle of existence, so even in energy absorption, Dragon form was the best choice. However, that was not the main reason.

Dane had a liking for this form. It was the one he preferred to take as his main body since this was the one that had not rejected him. Like most reptilian beasts, dragons were known to be loners, not seeking the company of others, as they were content on their own. Dane as a human was a very sociable creature, so there was some disconnect there.

At the moment, Dane was positioned at the entrance of the vein. In this position, it was less volatile and more accommodating. This is how people mined the Mana stones, by starting from the edge and slowly making their way to the core. However, Dane's interest at the moment did not have anything to do with mining.

He was here in his dragon form on a mission.

Seated in his crown, he could feel the space within the dimension he was in slowly changing. Dane activated a shrink spell to reduce the size of the dimension and everything in it. Only this way could it be transmitted as he intended.

The next part was even more critical, and even more disheartening. Dane hated himself for resorting to such methods but he saw no other way around it. He had had to pay a hefty price for it, and now that he was doing it, he hated that there was no other way around it.

Closing his eyes, he started the process.

He could feel his entire consciousness. Vast and wide, he felt all his thoughts and emotions congregate together. He could feel the extent of who he was, his personality, his character, the very essence of who he was. This was what he hoped to gain. The scope of his soul and consciousness, where they met.

Dane wanted to perform a partial-transmigration. This was easier said than done. For starters, one needed to be an expert in both Life and Death Laws, the laws that govern souls and life itself. While controlling this law was not one of Dane's innate abilities, as Karri so easily did, it was one that he had trained arduously to be good at. Unlike many others, Dane could be considered a genius among geniuses, hence for him, learning abilities that were not innate to him was not hard at all.

Dane's level of control of the Life and Death law had grown rapidly. In addition to innate talent, the individual's power level was one other factor that determines how fast an ability was learned and how powerful the ability learned became. Dane, as a Grade B super, could do more with the law compared to Karri, who was a natural but a Grade F Super.

A classic example of Dane's prowess in the law was in his ability to Mind-control. This was closely related to one's consciousness and indeed one's soul. To mortals, Dane could read their minds as though he was reading a grocery list, so there were no secrets.

Dane needed to carve out a piece of his soul and transmit it. To do that, he had to accurately control his consciousness to release a part of itself. One of the catastrophes that Dane needed to avoid at all costs was him splitting his consciousness, thus gaining a split personality. That is, one could end up with one violent side and one pacifist side, one lustful and the other chaste, masculine versus feminine, the list went on.

To avoid this, Dane needed to ensure that whatever he was transmitting was similar to whatever he was left behind, mitigating any risk. All this was to be done under immense pain.

There was no other way to look at it, by doing so, he was injuring his soul. There were tough consequences that he'd have to face, but he deemed the process worth it. It was all a price worth paying.

The process took 1 full day to complete. Severe pain stabbed Dane everywhere, for this was not a physical injury. His soul encompassed who he was, and the pain he was feeling was due to the wound he was not seriously trying to heal, but he knew it would take a long time to do just that.

When it was all done, Dane could feel the disconnect between the part of him that was in the throne and the others. Usually, any part of him was plugged into his main consciousness, meaning that if one part got any sort of information, all of him did. For instance, the part of him that is with Alie masquerading as Kendar would notice if Dane the dragon was attacked and if the reverse was true.

However, now he found one part of himself cut off. It was as though they were 2 parts rather than one. He still could identify with either one, since they were still all parts of who he was. This was the most disconcerting thing about this method, and many were said to have lost their sanity trying to balance and understand who they were.

Of course, this was all child's play for Dane, since he had undergone such similar situations countless times. It was the same as when 'went under' in the reincarnation pods. The difficulties and the pain were reduced by the pods, but the concept remained the same.

Dane didn't want to dilly dally. There was a reason for him doing this. This was the most delicate part of the operation, and it was to be carried out by a wounded dragon. The wound was not physical but metaphysical, which made it all the more disastrous. Yet Dane did not allow himself to be discouraged.

Channeling all his power, Dane started casting his spell. For the next part, Dane needed to have plenty of volatile raw power he could draw from. Not even he had that much power to open the kind of dimensional tunnel that he wanted.

For anyone proficient enough in the spatial element, they knew that the best way to link 2 distant places and transmit an object was by using dimensional tunnels. They were not as versatile as Teleporting, but teleport had a limited range.

'A proper dimensional tunnel should be made in places of high Mana concentration.' Dane could still remember the words of his instructor as he channeled his spell. 'Remember that Mana Flow must be controlled on one end, matching the receiving Mana flow signature.'

It had been an arduous process setting up the Manatite ore on the other end of the tunnel. The ore had been a gift from a god. Embedding it to the ground had been more difficult, but not as difficult as concealing it to prevent detection from other entities that would love to have their Manatite ore.

The most difficult part was setting up a unique pulse signature that could control the flow of mana and energy from the manatite vein. With this, he could match the signatures of the Manatite veins on both ends.

The advantage was that Dane would not have to manually seek out the location of the receiving end. Using the Mana signature of the Manatite ore, Dane could simply just initiate the connection between the 2, that is if there were no other Manatite ores in the area that had a similar or same signature.

It took 13 tries since other nearby exposed Manatite ores matched the signature, but finally, Dane found the one he wanted. It wasn't exposed, but the nature of the concealment was such that it couldn't hide from the one who concealed it.

Finally, once Dane was sure the connection had been established, he pressed a button he'd built in his palace, sending the palace together with the consciousness he'd split across the Dimensional tunnel. Time for the real games to begin. Dane felt like he was coming off the bench!
