Chapter 5: The Mystery

Damien Laskaris' POV

"I hope you don't mind coffee. I only had these at my house," I said as I was putting the tray that contains mugs for my guests. Caleb was sitting on the sofa. Xavier was in front of him and Arthur was leaning against the mantle of the fireplace. I took a seat next to Xavier and I regarded them.

"So, to what pleasure do I owe you guys here?" I asked as I was looking at them. Arthur was sighing before Xavier was looking at me.

"We wanted to know what was Zack was saying to you before he went missing. Do you recall what he asked you about?" He asked as I was trying to remember that evening.

"I don't think that I would remember everything as I was in a rush to go to the storytelling that I have promised my tourists' group that night," I said before Arthur was rubbing his face.

"But I do remember what he asked me about Sam," I said as three pairs of eyes were staring at me.

"What about?" Arthur asked me. I gripped my chin as I was trying to remember it but it was useless. Then it clicked.

"Ah! I think it was about the legend of the island and the mention of the mate. I think he was trying to understand how mates work. Maybe he did not have any education on that matter," I said as I was looking at them. Arthur sighed again.

I swear after he had his daughter, he was much older than he was.

"I should have known. I think he has found his mate but he was afraid that she would disappear and he denied the feeling. Maybe that's why he went into hiding. His wolf was starting to act crazy," Arthur concluded and then Caleb voiced out for the first time.

"And because of that, he went somewhere that people would not be hurt because he was an Omega. He was meant to heal people, not hurt them," Alpha said as he was nodding, trying to understand the situation.

"But we still don't understand why Sam has to go missing as well. Was she acted weird when you guys last saw her?" Xavier asked us as I was shaking my head.

"I don't see Sam before. So, I don't know if she went crazy as well or not," I said as I was leaning against the chair as I looked at the trio. They were wary as I know how much this mystery that they wanted to solve.

But I think we should just let it flow.

"How about this? I think Zack and Sam will come to their senses and until then, we don't need to worry about them. I'm sure they would not leave the island as they loved each other much," I said before Arthur turned sharply at me.

"And if they did?" He asked as I can sense that he was warning me there. I smiled at him before I was tilting my head.

"For someone that already found their mates, do you think you would leave your mate behind?" I asked them and the silence was their only answer. I nodded.

"Thought so. So, no need to worry." I said as I was getting up from the chair and looked at the watch. Anika must be waiting for me now.

"Look, as much I love to catch up on you guys, I still have something to be done and I think I will not waste that time here where I can be somewhere else," I said as I was starting to move to the front door.

"I never thought that you would rush to meet your clients before. Is this one different?" Alpha asked as I was glancing over my shoulder. I smirked.

"None of your business," I winked as I went out of the house before I was inside the van as I was looking at the trio that was amused with my answer in front of my house. I saluted them and sped off from the pack territory to the town.

Caleb Andino's POV

"Do you think he realizes that he was besotted by this mysterious tourist right now? I never thought that he would rush off to get out of here. I thought he might want to make of you at least," I said as I was staring at Arthur. He rolled his eyes.

"I think he has found her. I can smell her scent on him. But there was something amiss," Xavier said as he was crossing his hand in front of his chest.

"What is it?" Arthur asked.

"That woman that he was saying to tour guide, I think she was from the Old Council," Xavier said.

"You mean she was old?" I asked as I cannot imagine Damien with an old crone. Xavier shook his head.

"No, but I think the blood that was running through her vein is. I think we might get another member that will be connected to the Old World, just like Luna Marina," he said as I was thinking about my mate. My wolf purred.

"Well, let's hope that there might not be chaos if you're saying that then. I don't want to lose any more member than it is," I said as I was staring into the pavement that Damien was gone to.

I hope he knows what he was doing.

Anika Regio's POV

I was breathing hard as I was running on the treadmill. I cannot believe that the hotel has a gym for me to exercise and get toxic out of my body. I felt energized and I cannot wait for my lunch and dinner tour. Now, I think I might get some shower and all that.

"I never thought I would see you here," Damien's voice came into my eardrums as I was wiping my face with a towel. I smiled at him as he was leaning against the doorframe. There was no one in the gym and I think I would not see him right away.

"I thought you will meet me at 2 PM,"

"Well, it is 2 PM," he said before I looked at my watch. It was 1 PM.

"Liar, you are an hour early," I said as I was smiling at Damien. He acted as if he was shocked to hear that.

"Am I? Oh my, I never thought that I was that early. Well, I think that would be good. You will have a chance to get the early buffet of this place that I wanted to show you," he said as he was grinning at me. If I was not paying attention, he was flirting with me.

And my heart soared at that thought.

"Cheeky, aren't you?" I said as I was walking out of the gym and went to my room.

"Is it working? I don't see that you were happy with it," he said before I turned to look at him. He was smiling charmingly at me and I cannot help but smile at him as well.

"Well, if you want to know," I said as I stopped in front of the room. Damien was staring at me before I was arching my eyebrow at him.

"Aren't you expecting me to invite you in?" I asked him as he grinned.

"Aren't you?" He said before I felt blush crept onto my cheeks.

"Well…that would be…I don't know you that well yet," I said before I looked into his grey orbs. He smirked before he was trapping me inside his arms.

"Then, I will wait for that day to come then," he said huskily before he moved out of the way and left me there to the beating of my heart that was fast as lightning. Dear God!
