Chapter 1: The Job

Simone Laverte's POV

I cannot believe it!

I was being admitted to one of the world-famous psychiatrists in the whole world that was led by Dr. Sean Copper. I cannot wait to meet and greet him in person. He was someone to be admired. I can hardly contain my scream when I read the letters.

"I have to pack immediately. The car should be here soon," I said as I went inside the house that was the legacy of my parents. I was an orphan that was being supervised by my family lawyer, Mr. Addington, and I think he would be thrilled to hear about this.

"No," he said curtly as he was putting another document on the piles as I was standing in front of his desk.

"But, why sir?" I asked as I did not understand the reason behind his opposition. He knew that I wanted to be a psychiatrist as long as I can remember.

"Because you have a company to run. I will not be here forever, Simone, and you have to take care of your parents' legacy," he stated that made me rolled my eyes at him.

"Please, you will not go anywhere. Besides, you like it," I said as I was waving my hand dismissively. My lawyer was pinching his nose bridge at me.

"Look, Simone, I will not be here and you know your investors in the company will try anything to get you out of the board. And if they succeeded, God forbid, you will lose everything," he said as he was looking at me concerned. I sighed before I went to sit in front of the chair at the desk.

"Just give me one month. If I don't want to be there, then, I will come back and manage the company with you," I said as I was looking at him. He was thinking as I can see his motor was turning inside his head.

"Okay, fine. One month, no more, no less," he said as he looked at me. I beamed before I nodded at him.

"Thank you so much. It means a lot to me," I said as I was hugging him behind the desk. He was shocked at my gesture but did not say anything.

"Well, off you go now. I see you in a month," he said as he pushed so that he can go back to work. I smiled before I ran to my room and took the necessary things that I need. I was hoping that I can get more than that but one can only hope if my lawyer agrees to let me stay a little longer.

"Tonight will be a brand-new day for me," I said as I was standing at the gate of the airplane to board. I was so happy that the hospital was managing everything, from my ticket flights and my documents to stay in Seychelles Island. I will miss Wales, but this new adventure thrills me.

After some hours and dozing off in the plane that I don't even know any back pain anymore, I landed on the main Island. I have to go on a ferry to the hospital's location so I was ready to get going.

"Where to, young man?" The captain of the ferry asked me as I was looking at him. I was wary as Addington warned me about mere strangers who wanted to rob me.

"Uh, Rehabilitation center?" I said before he nodded at me. He waved me to board his ship and with a strong hope that he was the key to go there, I went on the ferry. It was 20 minutes of cruising and I just find out that I was seasick. Thank god it was only 20 minutes away.

"This will be your stop," the captain said as he was looking at me before I stepped off the ferry.

"How much?" I asked him as I was ready to pay some money for my fare. The captain waved his hand dismissively.

"It's been taken care of. Now, go do some work," he said as the ferry went away. I was confused for a minute before someone was clearing their throat behind me. I turned around and I saw the very person Dr. Sean Copper himself.

"Simone Laverte?" He asked. I was stunned that I cannot do anything about it but I hoped I was not making weird faces at him.

"Come this way with me. I'm Dr. Sean Copper," he said as he was holding his hand out. He smiled at me before I was beaming at him.

"I know who you are. I read all your works," I said before we were walking toward the facility. It was the main building before we were at the residence of the staff and faculty.

"So, you will be staying here," he said as I took in the room. It was nice and comfy, good enough for me.

"Well, thank you," I said as I put my bag on the bed.

"Well, let you get settle. There will be a meeting afterward at 4 PM sharp in the conference room. I hope you will not be late," he said before he disappeared. I was looking around and the clock was noon I still got some time to sleep cause apparently, I was not that immune to jet lag.

Celine Lebrun's POV

"You have the right to remain silent and all the words will be used against you in court," the police said as they strapped me inside the white vest that was reserved for crazy people. I cannot believe that I was being considered a mental person. I was not all that crazy up there.

"Well, I hope to see you in court then," I said as I was looking at the guard before he pushed me inside my cell. I was in Albania when I got caught and I was being transferred to Seychelles Island because my court trial stated that I was too mentally unstable to be considered a criminal.

"Now, isn't it fun? To be away from civilization and all, it was all that I can dream off," I said as I was being shoved into the cell. I was not being great at this rude behavior toward the woman and I, for one, wanted to kick this guard's ass.

"Shut your pie hole, bitch," the guard said as he spat on the ground. I scoffed at him before I went to walk around the cell. It was dirty and disgusting that I don't want to sit on the floor. There was a bed but not the cozy ones that you say in another prison.

No, this was for the mentally unstable person so I will not give them the pleasure that I was discomforted with their service here.

"One, two, three, until then you will see, who you have bleed," I sang as I was looking at my fingers. I cannot do anything but I was trying to portray the image that they painted me for. I was not all that crazy but misunderstood.

Besides, can a crazy person earn her Ph.D. with honors from one of the prestigious universities in the world? Surely can't but I have them and my emphasis was Neurology. So, how can I be crazy if I have the brains to prove me wrong?

Maybe I was approaching all of this wrong. I will not tolerate this behavior toward me. I was a civilized person and I will demand them to treat me as such.

I just needed to find someone that will play that part. Someone strong and gullible enough that I can manipulate and use that against them to get what I wanted.

Somehow I know that I will meet my leverage sooner than later.
