Chapter 7: The Intruder

"What the devil!" My father asked before he turned to look at aunt Lucy's husband.

"Damn that psycho. He will never stop until he got what he wanted," the man was looking at my father before he cursed. He turned to look at Spencer, as I have come to know, and he was whispering something. I only caught some of the words.

"You know what you must,"

"Keep her safe,"

"Do not let her remember, promise me,"

"I wish to see her again,"

All the voice was coming like a rush into my mind. I was clutching my temples as I was trying to surpass the memory but then I saw what happened next. Spencer took me off and left my parents and his to face the danger.

We were out of the danger but I was trying to go to them. Spencer detained me before I saw a man with his army. He was smirking at our parents before they were talking. He snapped his fingers and the smoke was filling the air. I did not know what happened but afterward, I was out of the scene and everything was a blur.

"Huh, huh, huh," I was breathing heavily as I was turning to look around where I was right now. I was in the bedroom that I shared with my husband before I turned to look at the door and there I saw my nightmare has come true.

Spencer was tied up and I was facing the demon of my nightmare.

"Hello, Olivia Laverte. Miss me?" He asked me as he was holding a dagger to Spencer's jugular vein. I can't move as I was looking at Spencer who was depressed that he was trying to get out of the man's grip but he could not.

"Theo, what is the meaning of this?" I asked him as he was smirking at me with Spencer that was gripping for his life.

Dear God! Don't let my husband die.

"I should ask you as to why are you here with this man? I thought he was to send you back to that laboratory that you should be detained," he spatted before I was trying to understand what was he saying. I furrowed my eyebrows at him. He laughed maniacally.

"Oh, don't play dumb, Olivia. You are one of the most precious gems in the underworld and yet you seem to lose your memory. You don't know why my father asked me to get you to his lair back," Theo said as he was gripping even more on Spencer and he was drawing blood on his neck.

"No!" I said as I was moving to get closer but he was holding his dagger even more on Spencer's skin.

"Ah, ah. I would tread carefully if I wear you. You don't want your whore to die, would you?" He said with a spat as I was looking at him sternly.

"He's not my whore. He's my husband," I said as I was looking at a mad Theo. He laughed as he was gripping the neck even more.

"Is that what he told you? He's your husband? Come on now, Olivia, you cannot believe that he was your husband. You're not even married," he said.

"Yes, we were,"

"Okay then. So prove it. Where is your wedding ring or even an engagement ring if he's your husband then?" He asked as I was feeling the lightness of my ring finger. He's right, damn him. I don't even have my wedding band or engagement ring.

"Those are only things that required by society to view as the standard of the union. Not wearing a ring doesn't mean that I was not married to him," I said as I was trying to find an escape plan with Spencer's life on the line.

I cannot lose him now since I just got back my memory. Well, most of them anyway.

"You always fascinate me, Olivia. No wonder my father wants you to be his assassin," he said.

"You mean his errand girl?"

"Don't you condemn what my father sees fit in you,'' he barked as I was looking at Spencer. He was looking at me with intention in his eyes.

It's okay. You can do it, I believe you.

And that was the only words on the encouragement that I need to make sure that Theo or anyone in this fucking world would never come to disturb us again.

I took a small knife that was on the table as I was talking with Theo when he was too oblivious to my movement. I hid it before I threw it and it hit his arm that was holding the dagger. He groaned before he was falling away from Spencer. Then my training kicked in.

I was taking Spencer out of the harm's way before I was gripping Theo hand as I took the knife again. I was looking into his eyes as he just realized what he was provoking.

"No one, and I mean no one, should come and disturb my peace with my husband," I said darkly.

"He's not your husband," he hissed at me before I was snapping his neck and everything was done in a second. I was breathing heavily before I looked at a lifeless Theo on the floor. If Theo was even his name.

"Well, remind me not to get on your bad side now and then," Spencer said as he was gripping his neck that was bleeding. I gasped before I was taking the first aid kit from the bathroom and I was pulling some antiseptic before I was tending to the wound.

"Ow! Be careful please," he whined before I was laughing at his attempt to not wince when I was cleaning the wound. We sat there in comfortable silence before I asked him the dreaded question.

"Was it true?" I asked him as I was looking into his grey eyes. His eyebrows furrowed.

"Of what?"

"That we are not married?" I asked before I stopped in my action as I turned to look into his eyes. They were the color of mercury but their warmth told me a different story. Not the ones that Theo said.

Spencer took my hands before he started to kiss my knuckles. I was waiting for him before he sighed and he was closing his eyes.

"Yes, but not because we couldn't. It was because…" he trailed off before I was arching my eyebrow.

"Because?" I asked him as he turned to look at me.

"Because we cannot have the ceremony before you were kidnapped. I failed you. I failed your father in promise to protect you," he said as he was closing his eyes before his mercury gaze was on me again.

I took a deep breath before he sighed. He was rubbing his face before I was pulling his hands and I was wrapping the wound with a bandage. I was trying not to break down but I know that he must be lost when I was not around and worrying about what he must tell my father about the truth.

"Did they know?" I asked before he shook his head.

"No, we were off the island before you were kidnapped and after that, I have spent my time locating you and when you appear in Turkey, I know I have to get you back. But you seem to now recognize me at the airport when I bumped into you," he said before I gasped. He chuckled.

"Yes, my darling, I have been following you ever since your captor decided to sell you to the highest bidder," he said as he was taking my hands and kissing my knuckles, his eyes bore into mine.
