As Hóngsè rode down the path, she saw a small but busy village. She knew that if she
was to be anything special, she needed money and a reputation. She didn't know very much
about anything other than farming, crafting, and a bit of hunting.
Hóngsè continued on and entered the village. As she rode on by, people began noticing
her and giving her curious glances. With silver hair, she looked a lot like someone from the elven
race. But with her pale skin and grey eyes, she looked more like a ghost than anything else.
After dismounting Dog, Hóngsè strode towards one of the open stalls. " Is there a place
where I can gather my own resources?" She asked the large man that was running the stall. She
owned nothing but some food and a rusty dagger, so she needed to find a way to hunt.
"Weell, I don't think I remember. Maybe you could help me jog my memory eh?" The
man patted his belly and held out his hand expectantly. The girl looked elegant and seemed like
she has some money somewhere in that bag.
As he looked up at her face expectantly, all he saw was a crude dagger just inches from
his face. Hóngsè was not very happy. She has been traveling for days without stopping, and her
patience was wearing thin.
She watched the man's eyes open wide and his hand begin to shake. He quickly pointed
to a large building farther down the street.
After putting away her dagger, Hóngsè turned away from the stall and walked towards
the building. As she neared the doors, a man darned in leather armor suddenly approached her.
The first thing she thought was, ' Oh great. Another dumbass.' Today was definitely not her day.
"Oi! You can't enter this establishment unless you have a request for help! Only special
members are allowed here." The man's boisterous voice attracted many disapproving looks and
angry grumbles. The most disapproving look of all was of course owned by the one and only
Hóngsè.
Not wanting to deal with any of this, Hóngsè just walked around the man and his
disgusting smell. First the man at the stall, then the smelly man in leather? Yeah, no. All she
wanted was to find a way to earn money.
As she passed by the man, she mumbled, " Such a nuisance. Who would want help from
the likes of you?".
Leaving the smelly man with his jaw now dropped, Hóngsè went to the building and
slowly opened the doors. Within the walls of the large building, she saw large L shaped desks in
each corner. Each desk was occupied by a woman in some kind of uniform. In the middle of the
room stood a large statue of a man with a slain wolf under his foot.
Not bothering with the beauty of the place, Hóngsè walked up to a finely carved desk and
began to talk to the lady. " Excuse me, but I'm looking for a way to collect some money with my
abilities to hunt. Is there maybe a request for me to take?" She asked in a kind and respectful
manner that you wouldn't normally see.
" If you're looking for hunting requests, you can go over to the desk with all of the
animal carvings within the wood. This section is for woodworking and jewelry requests."
Responded the woman behind the counter.
"Thank you. I didn't realize that you categorize your jobs so decoratively"
"Well we do strive to be the most eye appealing guild so we can get more customers!
Thank you for noticing!" The woman beamed and complemented the guild as if it is her own
child.
As Hóngsè walked towards the desk with wild beasts and warriors engraved into it, a
woman with glasses and a messy but was snoring away at her desk. When she reached the desk,
she could see that there were large amounts of dust collecting and a few cobwebs here and there.
It was obvious that not many people wished to hunt.
"Excuse me but I'm looking for some work." Hóngsè said to the sleeping woman.
As soon as she spoke, the receptionist jolted up in a way that one would almost think it was rehearsed.
She looked up at Hóngsè and simply pulled out a small stack of hunting quests, and fell right
back asleep.
'Looks like she is just as enthusiastic as the other' Hóngsè thought sarcastically.
Once Hóngsè took a look at the miniscule amount of papers, she knew that she was the
only one who would actually do these quests. She flipped through the papers one at a time
finding the simplest one. The paper read I need Ten rabbit hides, will gladly pay extra for any
pelts over the amount desired. The price read 3 copper for each extra pelt and forty copper to
complete the request.
After stuffing the paper in the bag, Hóngsè carefully set the stack of quests near the once
again sleeping lady, and left to go hunting.
