A letter from the past (2)

Now sweetheart, the third box is from me and contains some jewellery.  You might wonder why I left you a safety deposit box.  That, to most people, and I will include my lawyers and even my son and daughter-in-law in that group, seems weird.

You would only gain access to that box if you married Matthew before you turned thirty, otherwise its contents were to be conveyed to Matthew, with a note that these were for his wife.

As I said, just before I know my grandsons.  I knew Matthew's dream of becoming a soldier, but I also knew that no one would support his choice, because they saw the idea of service to the country as being beneath someone from a wealth background.
