Another day

Nicolai pov

Todays my first day at the fire station and I can't say how excited i am to be working , not that i need the money.

See when i was overseas I didn't waste much money so it all accumulated over the years.

So one could say I'm well off, but i love keeping busy , i wake up at 5am make my shake and head out for my morning run with baxter.

Obviously I don't over do it but i get a good work out as well.

When i get back i shower ,i eat a lean meal and go to do whatever I'm doing today being going to my first day of work.

Can't wait to see the guy's.

Bella Pov

I wake up late wishing I didn't feel so drained , but to my luck my wishes never come true,i go rushing to do my morning routine.

I was supposed to be at the hospital at 8:30am and it's already 8:45 am ugh my life.

I'm a punctual person ,so today is already starting off on a bad note.

I'm dressed so i run down the stairs only to see my aunt and Alex looking at me oddly.

Alex says "hey good morning, where's the fire?"

My aunt chuckles and i say "good morning Alex but I'm late for my appointment" my aunt looks at me and says "sweet heart i told Dr jones we wouldn't be able to make it at 8;30 so he moved it to 9am so eat up so we can go ,no coffee you have to eat for today please bella " i nod ok take some fruit with oatmeal and some water ,i eat it quickly and we leave.

We got to the hospital only to be looked at with anger by the girl from Nicolai party .

I tell my aunt to check me in and Alex said he would go with me , i nod ok and we head to take a seat.

Now you guy's must wonder why I don't talk much to Alex , no it's not cause I don't like him .

Honestly he's perfect for my aunt but I don't want to get close to anyone when i could lose them just as fast as i got them.

I know that isn't a good way to live being scared of losing people and so i push them away.

Ever since i lost both my parents my biggest fear is loving people only to lose them.

I adore my aunt she's all i got now and every day i live with the fear that i can lose her.

This is something i have no control over .

People live and they die it's part of life but my parents died too soon.

I was so in my thoughts I didn't hear Dr jones tell me to follow him ,once I followed him he explained everything to me that will happen today , it's been an hour or more .

We are finally done here .

I just want to go home to sleep i feel nauseous and exhausted .

As we are walking out to leave home, the idiotic nurse was coming towards me but my aunt got in front of me ready to go off on the nurse she seems to slow down and turn around back to her desk .

Alex asked "what is her problem?"

I responded "Alex can we just go home I don't have the energy to entertain her issues right now".

"Of course bella " he answered .

With that we left straight home .

Nicolai Pov

The guys welcomed me with open arms and I'm glad , some of the guys was in my high school football team . Not much happened today though my day went by quick.

It's already time to go home so next shift comes in.

I'm thinking of stopping by Bella house just to see how her day went and if she wants to spend some time with baxter.

I get home and instead of changing i grab baxter and head to bella house i hope she doesn't get angry i came without letting her know but in my defense I don't have her number.

I get to the door and knock but Alex opens the door he says "hey what's up Nicolai , come in ". I say "hey Alex thank you i just passed by to see Bella is she home "?

He looks at me and says iris with her right now " out of nowhere baxter runs up the stairs barking (roof -roof ) i hear Bella weakly say "is that baxter?", i look at Alex and ask with worry "is she ok ? " he says "it's not my place to say anything but I'll go see if it's ok for you to go up k " i nod feeling a bit worried cause by the sound of her voice she doesn't sound ok.

He heads up and in a few minutes Alex and iris are coming down saying that bella said for me to go up but iris stopped me saying "don't stress her and don't push her to open up either ,if she begins to trust you she will open up" i nod ok and head up almost run up that's how fast i was in her room , i say with a sweet smile playing on my lips "hey bella , seems i wasn't the only one who wanted to visit you " she seems a little pale but I don't say anything she's still so beautiful .

She tells me that baxter must know she needed him , i smile how are you feeling ?

She sighs and says "I'm just tired nothing to worry about , but how was you're day ?" I let it go knowing she lying and tell her about my day and she smile a little bit especially when i told her about the prank they did to me .

Then her little smile fades and she begins to adjusts herself on her bed as baxter is laying next to her , she's rubbing her head .

She looks at me , looking like she wants to ask me something but not sure if she should .

I ask her "what's wrong ?"

She sighs and says "i know it's none of my business so you don't have to answer me if y-"

I cut her off and tell her that she can ask me anything not to worry that i will answer her.

She nods ok and begins to ask me "how do you know that nurse ?"

I tell her "we went to high school together and i dated her for a year but we broke up."

She nodded and formed a "o" with her mouth i said yeah.

She then asked why i broke up with her , I cleared my throat and said "well I caught her cheating on me so i just broke up with her and I'm so glad i did."

She looked angry her nose scrunched up and got a little red "she said that girl is an idiot to cheat on a guy like you ".

I say "hey no need to get mad it is what it is, that happened almost 5years ago I'm over it".

She nods ok

Then i ask "can i ask you something ?"

She looks at me skeptically and nods for me to ask

So i ask "how was your day ?"

She sighs and says it was rough and tiring but she didn't want to get into details so i said "if you want I'll leave baxter with you tonight he seems comfortable."

She smiles , thank you Nicolai .

I tell her "call me nico or nic "

She chuckles and says "I'll call you cola , because i rather not use nico like the nurse did ".

she began to gag like she was about vomit so i gave her a bucket that was next to her bed , she says don't look but i got up and rubbed her back and held her hair.

If she thinks this bother me she nuts I've seen people blown up and so much more.

Vomit is nothing to me honestly.

Once she finished i gave her the napkin and the water that was on her night stand .

She looked exhausted,so i told her lay on your side and I'll cover you.

A tear rolled down her face and i wiped it away .

"What's wrong beautiful bella ? You can tell me anything ."

She sighs as another tear falls and she says

"Im tired of being strong , i miss my parents and if it wasn't for me they would be here."

I tell her " you may not know me all that well but if you let me in I'll be strong for you , i won't let you down and please bells don't blame yourself for something you had no control over. You're dad saved you because he loved you so much , don't put yourself through that type of torture please".

She says "Im sorry i broke down , I'm just tired and the past two days have kicked my ass .Thank you for holding my hair and for your words ."

When ever you need me I'll be here for you ,so what do you say friends ?"

She nods ok , then says "I'll give you one chance if you mess up you leave me alone ok "

I nod ok . I cover her up and tell her and baxter good night .

I had to stop myself from kissing her forehead because we are just friends and I doubt she is interested in boyfriend so for now just friends.

I go downstairs and tell iris that she is sleeping and that she wanted baxter to stay so he's with her.

I said " hey keep an eye on her ok "

Iris nods ok and i say bye and head home .
