Nu Shen was cussing colorful words as soon as she got out from her isolation. Even though she had cultivated for a year, not even a quarter of her power had returned to her.
"Damnable demons!"
When Mugu heard that his mistress was finally out of her room, he immediately went to greet her. But seeing the sinister upward curve of her lips and the fiery flicker in her eyes, Mugu couldn't help but shiver.
Nu Shen saw the frozen demon on the hallway and her blood boiled, rising to her head. She was reminded of what happened decades ago. If it weren't for those demons, she wouldn't be so powerless now. At present, she was just an old, weak hag.
"Come here, demon." Nu Shen commanded in a chilly voice, as if ice would form out from her breath. She needed to release the pent up rage inside of her or else, she'd end up puking blood.
Mugu looked behind him and saw no one, "Me?"
"Who else is a demon here?" Nu Shen said with a plastered smile.
Mugu felt like this mistress of his was scarier when she's smiling. He prefers to see a straight line or a frown in her lips. Who knows what she was hiding behind that 'innocent' smile.
"Ahh, mistress must be jesting!" Mugu nervously laughed, "Mistress, this servant is not a demon!"
Hearing this, Nu Shen raised her brow. If he weren't a demon, then was he a saint?
"Mistress, you've been cooped up in your room for so long so you must have forgotten," Mugu tried to calm himself and with the sudden burst of courage, he exclaimed, "This servant is a flower deity!"
Before Nu Shen could even breath, Mugu had already ran away from what was supposed to be his murder site. Nu Shen just watched as the back of the demon disappeared from the corner and sighed, a heavy one.
How is she supposed to get back her powers? Will she stay this way forever then?
Thinking about it, it wasn't that entirely bad. She's in the mortal realm, why would she need so much power? She believed that she can take on the petty humans if they decided to make life hard for her. At least, she can still conjure a fire ball.
This train of thoughts had calmed the raging storm inside Nu Shen. Soon, a small genuine smile graced her lips when she remembered about her booming business. She quickly made her way towards their treasury room and was very happy to see the pile of banknotes stocked on the chests.
And so, Nu Shen spent the rest of her day counting the money which Mugu had raised for her. Smelling the wad of paper in her hands, she muttered to herself, "Not bad. Not bad at all."
Mugu stuck his head on the doorway, taking a peek at Nu Shen, "Mistress, are you back to your usual self now?"
"En." Nu Shen didn't even bother raising her head as her eyes were focused on the banknotes in front of her.
"Well, I have news for you." Mugu hesitantly walked inside the room, his hand tucked behind him.
"Speak."
"Mistress, my master..."
This time, Nu Shen raised her head, "Remind me who your master is."
"My master is the Demon King!" Mugu replied with so much enthusiasm.
"En. Continue." Nu Shen paused in a while as if she was reminded of something.
"I know that Mistress is old enough to be considered as a great ancestor but I didn't know that not only is her memory bad that she has forgotten about my master, even her hearing is bad!" Mugu muttered to himself, somewhat lucky that Nu Shen didn't hear what he said.
"As I was saying, Mistress, my master had awaken!" Mugu reported.
"And?"
Mugu's face warped in disappointment, "Mistress, aren't you excited to meet him again?"
"No."
"But-"
"Leave. I'm busy." Nu Shen nonchalantly flicked her hand to dismiss Mugu.
"Mistress, mas-"
Before Mugu could react, Nu Shen had already formed a fireball and the hair which he painstakingly grew turned to ashes. He had no more tears to shed.
As Mugu left the room, he couldn't help but feel sorry for his master. As soon as his master had awaken, the first thing he mentioned was the priestess. Luckily, he didn't dispersed Mugu's demonic soul when he learned of Nu Shen's business. Instead, he laughed loudly and caused the Tiantang Tower its collapse.
But mostly, he felt sorry for himself. His master is the demon king and his mistress is the devil incarnate. Now, who has the right to tell him they had worse in life?
All Mugu wanted to do is to report to Nu Shen that his master has taken the identity of one of her beloved flower boys and is now currently working in ADB. Though Mugu already has a master, he still felt a bit of loyalty towards Nu Shen. But since she ignored him and heartlessly dismissed him, then let it be!
Up in the open court of ADB, one man was leisurely drinking wine while listening to the conversation below. Suddenly, his perfectly shaped brows twitched, his deep pool of ember eyes darkened, and an alluring sneer formed in his lips. The man's angelic countenance turned sinister as the glass in his hand shattered into a thousand pieces, and so did the brothel's glass windows.
Mugu shook his head, "Ah, it has already started."
