Baptize in Blood

Morning of the next day, everyone was busy moving back and forth as they carry sticks, stone, logs, and other materials. Those that are skilled craftsmen within the village could be seen curving out basic bows and arrows while others are chipping away at long sticks to make the edge extra sharp.

Although Zheng have 800 life points remaining he still only able to equip up to 250 villagers that are capable of combat out of the initial 300. Surprisingly, the village have a total of 300 male with the last 100 being the elderly, women, and children since many was killed in the attack or taken as playthings for the soldiers.

Their only alternative is to use the environment to their advantage, that is when Zheng begin to split up task for the villagers and even his own soldiers base on their stature and skill with no exception for this battle involved all their lives and while at it Zheng give them an order to set a bait for the yen soldiers.

Since the villagers are adapt to living in the forest and know their way around. It is a great start for Zheng and his men because they can spy on the enemy then set up traps accordingly to catch the enemy off guard.

Zheng who is currently making spears stop what he was doing and look to his right because his soldier instinct is telling him that something or someone is coming in that direction. The same soldier that was with him that night at the yen camp was next to him ask "what the matter commander?"

"They are close…."

Right when Zheng said those words, a villager ran towards them from that same direction yelling "unit commander Zheng! The yen soldiers took the bait and are closing in on us!"

'So they finally came, if they really took the bait then we will win for sure after taking out a portion of their fighting power with those traps the villager planted in that direction.' Thought Zheng before returning his focus on the messenger and his men.

"Have the women, children, and elderly get out of here and hide in the woods." Ordered Zheng as he need to make sure that there won't be any innocent casualties in this battle.

"Yes commander!" bowed the soldier before taking off to prepare the evacuation together with the messenger.

Observing the 250 light armored militia and 50 militia with basic wood armor who have finish armoring up the moment the messenger came. Zheng said "Gather up my brothers in arms! It is now the time for us to show our worth! Fight by my side! Follow me as we destroy our enemies! It is time to show the yen soldiers that the villagers of fanjian village are no pushover! TO BATTLE!"

"TO BATTLE!!!"

"Xin, take 100 men and hide to the left! Wait for my signal before flanking the enemies!" ordered Zheng

"Yes commander! You men come with me!" taking the order with no hesitation Xin lead 100 men away and get into position

"HOOO!"

"Cai, you are among the best out of the soldier I summoned so I will trust you with taking another 100 men and go to the right and do exactly like Xin. Remember to wait for my signal!" said Zheng

"You flattered me commander, I will carry out your orders to the last breath!" bowed Cai before he took off as well.

"The rest of you, get into formation!"

"HOOO!"

Ten minutes later….

A large group of people which look a mess begin to come out of the tree lines in the opposite side of the giant lake and the one in the front of them all look especially miserable.

'God damn these bastards, to think that they are able to set up all those traps. If I wasn't strong enough then I would have die back their instead of just sustaining these wounds but even with 50 either dead or injured our odds of winning against those cowards shouldn't change at all.' Thought Shen as he curses and wish to butcher all the villagers.

"Hey stupid! I can tell what you are thinking based on that stupid face of yours, we are over here so come gets us! Hahaha" said Zheng as he give Shen a middle finger and continue to provoke him.

Realizing that he was drifting away in his own thoughts, Shen quickly recovered to see Zheng who is yelling curses at him from the opposite side. Noticing that the villagers that he want to tear apart are actually right in front of him and from the look of it they are mocking him!

"Kill them all!" yelled Shen

"KILLLL!!"

In his rage Shen failed to realized that the villagers he despise are actually fully armed and the most important thing is that not all of them are their!

"Hmmp, as a military leader you sure lose your cool fast. Attacking without even thinking." Gripping tightly on his spear and shield Zheng got down from his horse and joined the men at the frontline.

"V-Formation! Just like we practice, shields to the front! Stand firm and put your back to it! Spears, prepare to counter the enemy! Archers, on my signal!" throwing out a series of orders Zheng with the help of his summon soldiers got the villager in formation within no time.

"Wait for it…..wait for it....ARCHERS FIRE AT WILL!" ordered Zheng

Sounds of arrows whistling through the air could be heard along with screams of both man and animal who unfortunate enough to get hit. Of course, the enemy won't take it laying down as they to launch a barrage of arrows towards Zheng and his men. Luckily, they have made preparations by making sure all infantry have long shields while the archers are protected behind a makeshift wood board similar to what the samurai used but bigger.

With a full sprint, the yen soldiers actually made it around the giant lake in two direction within a minute and begin to clash with Zheng shields men. Loud booming sound of metal and flesh colliding vibrated through the entire area. Good news is that the damage was greatly reduced with the spears created prior to the battle manage to stop the cavalry momentum.

However...

BOOM!

"You bastards think that your stupid shield and spear can stop me!?" roared Shen as he break down the shield formation and begin to charge in.

'Fucking brute, let me see what you made off personally then!' thought Zheng as he charged to Shen direction.

Before Shen could cut down any more villagers Zheng threw his spear with the stance of an Olympic athlete killing Shen horse to even the playing field. Catching Zheng coming at him Shen just gesture with his finger sending a message 'come die if you really want to brat.'
