Chapter 1

It begins with dad's funeral. I didn't really know him that well, as he was never in my life, which I didn't really care about. It had been raining all of today so we all needed umbrellas. Everyone was crying and I didn't know why. That bastard was never with us. After the funeral was over, an old, disheveled man came up to me. He said that my father had left me an inheritance, and I said that I never really knew him so why would I care. He never even gave a shit about me. But when I found out what my "father" had left me, why would I say no.

He left me his estate, which was this huge mansion just outside of town. It had a beautiful garden, intricate architecture and a looming presence that was just jaw-dropping. The inside was full of beautiful chandeliers and vast rooms, painted with gold, that would have left anyone flabbergasted. There were two massive ballrooms, one bigger than the other. There were 6 bedrooms, 1 room that doesn't open, 1 guest bedroom and 1 master bedroom. To say that I was amazed is an understatement.

I was also given my father's possessions and was told that my father was an investigator of all things occult, supernatural or paranormal. Many of his things were vintage dolls, a dummy, many files, and this odd looking book. It had weird looking runes all over it of a language that I did not understand or have ever seen in my entire life, and the pages had many intricate figures and oddly shaped beings littered throughout it .

After everything was said and done, I started throwing out anything I deemed unnecessary. I ended up throwing out many items, including those dolls dad had. I was initially thinking of leaving the book with me in my room, as I had thought that I could get this translated and maybe even read the damn thing, but I ended up throwing it out as well. I kept all of dad's files, many were dated before I was even born. All had one thing in common though, they were all written in red ink.

I kept the dummy, As I had practiced ventriloquism when I was young. He was a very fancy looking dummy, with a suit and tie and combed-back, black hair. I ended up naming him Issac. The one thing that creeped me out a bit was his wide open green eyes and blank expression. But as with all dummies, I didn't mind it, at first. As the day went on. Everything was fine. When night time arrived though, everything changed.
