Shame / Metamorphosis

In a few days Iris and Olivia went on another date, and Iris felt a loosening of herself and her sexual desire for this; even moreso because she knew she could sate it if she asked. Thus it was no surprise that after a night of dinner and flirting, she went home with Olivia this time, and as they stepped inside Olivia & Naomi's mansion, Olivia turned excitedly to Iris. "So, Naomi's out all night, and I can tell her not to show up tomorrow morning, if..." She placed her fingers on Iris's chest, then slowly moved them to her muscular arms. "Is there anywhere you wouldn't feel comfortable with me touching?"

"You know I don't have much for sexual limitations."

Olivia pressed herself into Iris and grinned as Iris folded her tightly against herself, the aggression of Iris's touch yearning for her soft skin. "And I think I already know, but to be sure: do you like leading or being led?"

"Leading."

Olivia grinned. "What a coincidence." She offered up the straps of her dress to Iris, who peeled them down past her breasts.

Iris gasped a bit. She worried that to view Olivia in this way was somehow objectifying… but if anything her cleavage had been understating her breast size.

"Like what you see?"

"I do."

She squeezed Olivia against her as her mouth searched for her's, her muscularity tensing around her and pulling their affection deeper. She returned many of Olivia's kisses; not all to her face; and she sensed that Olivia enjoyed her lack of inhibition. She peeled down the rest of Olivia's dress and placed her hand on Olivia's lower back, a little possessively, then moreso once she knew Olivia enjoyed such. "Anything in particular you'd like me to call you?"

"Your girlfriend." Olivia kissed her again, then gasped a little as Iris lifted her up, reverting her own clothes slightly to allow Olivia's affections better access; she usually did not prefer to be fully nude. Sexual need and aggression were gradually loosened from her, then coaxed as Olivia's legs squeezed around her.

She felt Olivia's fingers rub along her back, a little sensually, then kissed down Olivia's chest and stomach, before returning to Olivia's breasts. She caressed and sucked at them for a few minutes, yet felt unusual as Olivia stroked her hair and asked if Iris wanted to head to her bedroom. She felt a bit confused: she had considered what Olivia wanted done to her but not what she wanted done to herself.

They cuddled in Olivia's bed for a few minutes, and she hoped that talk would be made superfluous as they stroked each other for some time; she teased Olivia for a while. She loved making women moan.

"Good." whispered Olivia. "…and if you feel comfortable being rougher, or more aggressive, or pinning me down..."

Iris nodded, and she straddled Olivia as she continued her prior affection.

"Wanna know what else you can do with those hands?"

Iris dipped her right hand deeper between Olivia's thighs, then was flummoxed when Olivia moved it to her neck. "I-I - n-not there."

"Oh." Olivia let go. "I'm sorry. I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable."

They continued, and although Iris found herself & Olivia skillful, it was not necessarily sex she enjoyed beyond orgasm. She was not sure why: she felt she had been doted upon well, or more specifically her muscularity and thus her ego, and she had performed her own act well. To her mind she had achieved an early fantasy with Olivia, yet she could not seat her easily into an established schema of female companionship, that to Iris had always seemed more a scale of worth for herself.

Again she tried to think through it logically, but could not. Emotion was needed to guide her. She was hesitant towards sex with Olivia. Yes, Iris had sex with essentially strangers and casually hooked up many times: but with intimate partners she had always possessed a tension in her muscles she could only slowly & gently calm. Sex to Iris was something that she did to other people, not with her partners.

===

In the interim Iris sublimated this via the projection of herself into her protege. She had dulled some of her riskier habits in fight and practiced again her protective measures with Meteorology; she focused much on her protege rather than herself, just as Natasha had with her. In a sense death had not been only a physical breaking of bond between them, but an emotional reconstruction that they shared.

In late August 2023 she stood in the arena with the other second-years. Hirogane, Emilia, and Serena were there. Hirogane handed out the tablets to the new second-years and explained their usage as the first-years filed in, and after verifying none had been killed on the way to Urasaria, went through his introduction. Iris occasionally glanced over Emilia, and that she was in a relationship now temporarily did not register. She imagined taking Emilia into a closet, pressing them against a wall and sliding her fingers inside, then stifling their moans with her other hand so no one else would know.

She noticed Emilia smiling back at her, the intensity of her fantasy in correlation with the guilt she felt afterwards.

"As for the two beside me, I'll allow them to introduce themselves." said Hirogane.

Serena spoke. "Hi, I'm Serena. She-her... I'm only here part-time, but I can heal amputations... and if you're trans, you probably already know who I am, so come talk to me." She smiled.

"Und my name is Emilia -- please refer to me with they-them pronouns. I sew the healing Flickendecke patches." They held one up. "And I have good news! Its timer ist now only ten minutes without Revenant usage before it can heal. I hope zis vill lead to a little less prolonged pain."

"Mentors, call up your proteges." said Hirogane.

Iris looked down at her tablet.

SUKI

Age: 18

Birthdate: March 17th, 2005

Gender: Female (She/Her)

Race: Asian

Height: 5'0

Weight: 103lbs

Revenant: Metamorphosis -- Creation of animal parts.

As you noticed the lack of last name above, so too did Iris: she looked around at other mentors' tablets but found their protege's last names were displayed.

"Suki?"

A short black-haired Korean woman stepped up to Iris; she was wearing a backwards spiked snapback, a black crop top & jean shorts.

"Hi, I'm Iris Valentine. Kronos." Iris extended her hand. "I'll be your mentor for the year."

"Hi, I'm Suki."

Iris noted she did not mirror the last name introduction, but no matter. "Have you used your Revenant before?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Just checking. Mine is Kairos: manipulation of time and weather."

Something in Iris's tenor made Suki realize she was actually a woman, not a man, and she loosened. "Two abilities in one? What the fuck? Damn, you must be lucky."

Iris did not respond for a few seconds but for a quaver of her cheek. "Maybe so. Your registration said your's is... Metamorphosis. Creation of animal parts?"

"Oh, I kinda lied on that. I don't trust giving them what my Revenant actually does... but I'll show you outside."

"…alright. Lead the way."

Iris followed Suki outside, a bit past Urasaria's gate, and Suki turned to her. Instinctively Iris wondered if she was about to get stabbed: or rather, the equivalent of that for hosts.

"Metamorphosis."

Suki transformed into a demon several feet taller than her previous height. Her face and body were lithe, dark purple but for runic blue lines running through her torso and slender arms. Her legs were hooved but walked upright, her head of gnarled horns and a pair of long, enormous crab pincers sprout from her back, a prehensile scorpion tail.

"AND I CAN DO THIS." Her voice had changed; many voices overlayed into androgyny. She teleported into Iris's shadow and untransformed. "I call it shadowstep. Sick, right?"

Iris whistled. "Pretty sick. Are those wings for show?"

"No." Suki transformed; her wings flapped and pushed herself away from Iris & Iris away from her, maybe about 10ft or so. She untransformed and shadowstepped to Iris. "Uh, I can't fly and shit, though."

"That's alright. Keeps me from needing to remember to wind you up."

"Wind me up? What's that supposed to mean?"

"When I use my wind, I can just give you a draft to fly on, rather than having to launch you. We'll practice."

Suki frowned. "Okay."

Iris led her back to the arena, though on the way back Suki was checking through her texts. A voice message had been left. She put it to her ear, but Iris could still hear some of it. It was a woman with an Italian accent asking when Suki was going to call her back, and if she was safe her first day at Urasaria. Suki seemed annoyed, then stopped it in the middle of it and texted whoever it was.

She seemed later reticent to train with Iris, and even during their practice continually attempted to guide it. Iris sensed this woman was not possessed of any adherence to authority, but no matter. She showed Iris her acidic spit, her scorpion tail, her ability to inject pig flesh into their wounds and incorporate it into hosts, her ability to transform her legs grasshopper and create sonic shockwaves. Yet Iris had noticed that Metamorphosis was rather weak; her reaction time was several times that of Iris, her speed and strength far lower. Inexperience was not an explainer of this, not in the main.

Once they were done, Iris mentioned that mentors & proteges often live together due to the poor quality of one-star housing, and was surprised when Suki said she would live in her own home even after she saw its dilapidated state. Yet a few days later she would return to Iris and say that after consideration she decided to live with her instead; whenever she was to agree with Iris she would often do so in this roundabout way, as if she needed all ideas to stem from her mind alone.

She noted as well that Suki was not eager to kill, which she thought atypical among students; Iris herself had loved her first murder, as had her Revenant. There seemed an attempt by Suki to run out the clock on her insecurity, and Iris suspected she knew as well the difference in their respective strengths and felt humiliated by it.

She attempted to resolve this by taking Suki out to a local bookstore and buying her an encyclopedia of animals, where they also met up with Olivia.

Iris kissed Olivia on the cheek. "Suki, this is my girlfriend Olivia."

"Hi." said Suki.

"Hi." Olivia smiled as Iris moved her arm around her waist. "So, Iris was telling me you can transform into animals?"

"Uh, animal parts."

"That's a pretty good Revenant. Did you have it since birth?"

"Yeah."

Olivia noticed Suki looking at her breasts, but said nothing.

"Hopefully we'll find a few more animal parts to use in here." Iris pat her encyclopedia.

Suki frowned, for this alongside bringing her beautiful girlfriend along had given her the vague sense that Iris was mocking her; to Suki all others moved in relation to herself, and Iris was in trespass against Sukidom. There was a general miasma of loathing towards the world that she had rationalized as reality, and so no matter the minutae it could not help but be subsumed into that miasma. Major and minor reaction and emotion: all were leveled into what might be called Suki's worldview, yet not one she recognized was such.

As they walked back out the bookstore and to the street outside, she had a sense that she should exert herself in some way; that she should divert Iris's preconceptions of herself into a more favorable channel. There was an empty space to herself that she understood could become quickly filled by the negative perceptions of others, and so she sought to create perception rather than be subjected by it; but as to how she could do so she felt uncertain.

Ignorant to this was Iris, who smiled down at Olivia. "So, Suki, have you been in a fight yet?"

"No."

"Are you excited?"

"I guess."

"Don't be nervous. Iris has a lot of stuff to protect you, if you need it. Eventually you get used enough to it that you can't imagine it ever having been another way."

"Okay."

Iris sensed Suki was not entirely listening, and she had seemed to retreat into herself. She could not understand why, but sensed that Suki had nursed this response, generally, to things that bothered her. Yet whenever she attempted to examine Suki further in thought, she was distracted by her own issues with Olivia near; and though Olivia thought it was Suki that had caused this sudden awkwardness in her, it was an internal inversion of Iris into outward stiffness.

Olivia soon said that she needed to get back to train with Naomi, and Iris held her and kissed her before she left. Iris was (perpetually) hungry and asked if Suki was as well, so they went separately, and Suki loosened once they were out of earshot of Olivia. She said: "Jeez, she's really pretty."

"She is."

"She has some big tits."

Iris cringed. "Alright, let's not talk about her appearance."

"I guess, but it's the most prominent thing about her."

"It doesn't matter. Do you think that's an appropriate topic for discussion?"

"What else am I supposed to talk about?"

Iris sighed. "Well, we could get a start on the encyclopedia I stole for you. I want you to have read through it by the end of the week."

"Uh, okay, I'll get around to it. But I mean, when you dress like that, you get the attention you expect. I mean, I didn't say anything gross to her or anything, so why are you mad at me?"

"I wasn't mad at you before, but if you want to keep talking about her-"

"Why else did you bring her with you? I don't dress like this and get pissed when people look at me sexually."

Iris sighed, although internally she was pissed, and wanted to defend Olivia via striking Suki. She had never been able to trim her temper well with Olivia, especially not now, and so she attempted to justify such through Natasha's threatening to punch her, until in the next instant-

- a mask of air formed over Iris's mouth and stole her breath away, which seemed a thing unmoving between her lips; she saw Suki similarly gurgle at her side, transforming for a gulp of air as Iris blasted a glut of wind into their mouths -

- yet nothing could penetrate her throat; she was forced to summon a wind within herself and decay preferentially the carbon dioxide of her exhales into oxygen, for nothing could leave her mouth now. She grabbed Suki and a microscopic scalpel of wind slid into her veins, drawing up through her blood into her lungs; she breathed for a moment, yet her host aura stiffened against Kairos' intrusion, and still she gasped on the film of her own carbon dioxide as she sputtered with no sound.

She realizes Suki was not accustomed to Kairos' manipulation yet, and spelled out for her in lightning: 'OPEN YOUR-'

- but the lightning leaked forth into the air and she was forced to revert it; Suki's aura opened a moment later and allowed its decay of carbon dioxide into oxygen, allowing the women to breath again as they stood still in their initial spot. They turned yet could not move fully against the impermeable blanket of air around themselves, seeing in the corner of their eyes the dint of a man 30ft away up the sidewalk; an acidic turtle began in Suki's monstrous throat, but Iris threw out a gust of wind towards him -

- yet the air itself paused and caught it, a countercurrent blasting her away & back; she caught Suki with her wind on her backwards flight down the street, this having been her intended plan regardless, for his strength lowered with range and the air became permeable to their breath once more; a second wind launched then up to the line of stores left and they hit the roofs running, a momentary buckle in every ceiling they hit due to Metamorphosis's dense mass. Her demonic form rushed at terrifying gait beside Iris, who muttered out a reminder of Kairos' manipulation: one Suki was displeased to rely upon but needed to regardless.

"I'll just step into that bitch's shadow." muttered Suki as they leaped to another roof below; the ceiling gave way beneath them and plunged them into the store below, and before Iris could shout why she was allowing them to fall, the electricity within the walls' wires spooled forth and leaked towards them -

" - Kairos!" shouted Iris, accelerating the spin of electrons in several spots of air; their magnetic pull diverted the strands of electricity away from herself as the women stumbled to their feet, yet the air around her spots of magnetism closed suddenly, and again the electricity spewed towards them -

- but she swept her hands forth and a burst of dry volcanic ash swallowed the electricity alive; another cloud of volcanic ash consumed the room and Iris blasted herself & Suki through the wall into the next building over, crashing through the wall and landing behind the counter of a coffee shop as they hit the floor behind, no sight of their foe yet no potential for him to have seen the direction of their escape either.

Beside, Suki slumped against the wall and made to speak, but a hook of wind pulled the air from her throat; Iris bid her silence before returning it to her, repairing the hole their entrance had left, the two women sitting in silence yet Iris with her listening ear out. A moment passed as she set her head to the wall, the coffee machines still running to her left, bags of coffee grounds for sale on the other side of the counter. Another moment passed, and she exhaled; in the next instant, the boiling concoctions broke free as if they had no confinement and shot towards the two women -

- but the next scene was instant.

"-pig flesh!" shouted Iris; the hats of coffee grounds delayed and a wind formed a shield of their contents beside herself & Suki, Kairos accelerating their evaporation into hyper-aridity; into the grounds of coffee went the boiling of coffee, unable to penetrate the shield of absorption; she saw their foe standing at the front door, yet Suki still had not spat out the flesh of a pig -

"-SHADOWSTEP!"

- but in the next less than an instant his shadow thinned and her step caught no stair; the hot liquid breached the shield of grounds and burnt steep canals against Iris's throat, choking her tight; a heavy agitation claimed her as a blanket of snow engulfed her, yet no snow could penetrate the troughs the liquid was burning in her flesh -

-until she blasted herself & Suki deep underground and hit the dirt below running, decaying to burrow ahead and dragging Suki behind her with a heavy hand of wind, barking out: "-when I tell you to do something-"

"-I HAD-"

- Kairos' reverted Suki's voice back into her throat and stifled her into silence, Iris grunting as she continued her forward burrow. A film of impermeable air began powering upon themselves, forcing her to burrow even deeper, still feeling his manipulation of air wavering blindly around them. She realized now that his Revenant was control over permeability; that he could loose forth any sound they made and funnel it directly into his ear, for he had heard earlier Suki's intentions and now forced them into a blind burrow; if he found them they would be permanently trapped.

Decaying through this vertical labyrinth of dirt and soil, she decayed random segments of dirt at the edge of Kairos' gaze to hide her trail. She scanned and felt the state of the dirt above & diagonal 30ft to themselves become permeable and allow its occupant through, and had only a moment to launch herself & Suki diagonally back through the chasks of soil & foundation, until with a tremendous gust of wind did she launch them back out to the city street; she saw below the cavern he had entered through and hit it with a geyser of lava that rushed through it and filled it completely, Suki's acid added into the corrosive & ultrahot mix and bubbling below -

- and as they landed back on the street they heard his scream of echoing agony below, his attempts to carve his own exit from this now hellish maze -

"- Kairos!" shouted Iris, sweeping her hand out; a wave of lava rushed over the road and solidified into slow magma, the pressure & heat crushing him further down, his desperate attempts to find an upward exit that had not been volcanically trapped -

- until after a dozen seconds he emerged from the crust 30ft ahead, heavily wounded & burnt but not yet dead; as he rushed out of the magma and to the sidewalk, Iris pitched a bolt of red lightning into him -

- that caused him to disappear entirely from sight.

Iris frowned, realizing quickly what had occured.

"DID WE GET HIM?" said Suki beside.

Iris rushed onto the sidewalk where he had been and Suki followed behind; Kairos' legs weave as she scanned the past physical states of where he had just been, and found quickly the vague, rushing patter of his footsteps away imprinted into eternity. She ran after it a few seconds behind, speaking as Suki continued at her demonic gait beside: "-permeability, he's - not allowing light to penetrate around him- hears everything you say, so-"

The women kept their bizarre pursuit going up the sidewalk, crossing the road as Iris followed only semi-blindly after their invisible foe, the movement of his wavering host aura allowing Kairos to track what her sight could not, this odd & unknowable patch of air that no light could refract off from. Testing something, she pitched a spear of red lightning into where she estimated their foe to be -

- but it wilted against his impermeable & invisible sphere, yet it was enough for the next instant scene.

The ground below Iris & Suki decayed and the mismatched elevation pulled him tumbling down towards Iris, her spinning drill outstretched as he flashed into visibility -

- but at the last moment the air caught his tumble and he slid away & past the two women on an impermeable slide of air, launching himself up and behind them, back onto the sidewalk behind; Iris turned as she reverted their elevation and saw a flash of him rushing into a shop at their right and ahead, feeling like a fool as she was forced to follow him up the sidewalk, then rushing into the shop & pausing there as Kairos scanned for his aura.

Again a sphere of impermeability built around themselves, but Kairos' manipulation pressed outward and claimed the land around them for itself, still feeling his movement around the room like an invisible & impermeable hamster ball.

Suki spoke. "GOT AN- OH, RIGHT."

Iris groaned, but felt Suki's scorpion tail shoot through the floor below, and as a spray of acid began from her tail -

- Kairos' strand fixed in time the top layer of the floor, protecting it from corrosion; she realized Suki's intentions to dunk him into acid, yet needed to attack closer to his skull. She focused Kairos upon that aura staggering around the room; with his wounds he would not last much under a sustained attack, a single spot of air opening in that impermeable sphere whenever he needed to take a breath.

She focused upon this spot as she held Suki's acid liquid below, a canal that could not yet corrode beyond its vessel. Once more his breath opened a hole in his barrier, and in the same instant she evaporated Suki's acid into corrosive vapor that shot through the sudden hole, Kairos holding the tunnel to his lips open so he could not close them, a gasp of pain filling it as the acid began corroding his lips; yet he was not dead yet and the acidic gas was beginning to fill the room, forcing Iris to divert her focus threefold - keeping his breath open, preventing the corrosive gas from touching herself & Suki, continuing the acceleration of acid into his breath.

She grunted, her veins pulsing with exertion, until an impermeable tunnel drove her exhale into her ear and the sudden sound shocked her; her focus stumbled for a moment she could no longer hold all three expressions of time open, yet she chose correctly -- she allowed the corrosive gas to breach through to her & Suki as the gas still seeped against his lips, a coat of pig flesh growing over Suki's demonic skin and taking the brunt of its effects, her own mouth beginning to burn and her flesh scarring, until his dissolving corpse slumped out of invisibility and what was left of his face slid into the bubbling puddle of his lungs below.

Suki injected new flesh into Iris's wounds, pieces of flesh sliding down her thinning demonic fingers and incorporating into Iris's body, and she nodded to Suki as she crouched down to scan.

[Rarify: Control over permeability.]

Iris had planned to compliment Suki on her first kill, but sensed that whatever compliment she gave would be taken insincerely, so did not. She could not do much but navigate the ecosystem which she was given. "Still hungry?"

Suki looked down at the corpse. Bizarrely she felt much hungrier. "Yeah."

"Alright. Find somewhere to eat and I'll catch up with you. Just need to give Olivia a quick call to check on her." Iris waited until she was out of earshot, then called Olivia. "She got her first kill, at least."

"And apparently likes to stare."

Iris sighed. "I was hoping you wouldn't notice. Far be it for me to call anyone a pervert, but she made a few comments after that bothered me, too. Just doesn't seem to know what appropriate for discussion."

"Well, at least you know she's jealous of you."

"Not exactly the state of mind I'd like her to have. Only thing I envied about Natasha was the size of her arms."

"Oh, don't worry, I'm sure Suki's envious of those too."

Iris laughed. "If I could get her to go to the gym with me, that'd be progress, at least, but... She's just belligerent, but not consistently enough that I feel she dislikes me outside of whatever the hell it is about me that sets her off. I've got the feeling she would project a false identity out then risk herself in my slight glimpse. Almost feels as if she's predicted I'll reject her, yet wants to ensure I do."

"You think she wants you to confirm how bad she should feel about herself? Something like that?"

"I'm not sure, but it's my duty to figure that out, no?"

"Maybe. It wouldn't be mentorship without a little moonlighting as a therapist. I just don't want you stressing yourself out if it doesn't wind up the way you and Natasha were."

"I suppose." muttered Iris. "Can't say that absence hasn't refined my memories of her, even if it's mostly been a series of island connected by these thin brown strands. I can remember those points of myself and her, but how each became the next, I don't know."

Olivia listened to her admiration of Natasha, though she had heard this before from Iris. Almost a year since her death for Iris and two for Olivia, despite her prior romanticism and the draw of that atmosphere, recent events had begun to again pull at Olivia's perceptions of Natasha, a remolding caused by no direct experience with the woman but of that with her protege. For Olivia each trait of Natasha was no longer contained in direct experience, but in what triggered her memories of such traits, the salience of such identities flaking in the steady pull of her remembrance. It was then she realized that the will to change had been more difficult than change.

"Still, Suki might mellow some once she's stronger." said Iris. "Can't say I wouldn't be feeling a little disheartened having the only mentor with two Revenants."

"You should hold back a little, you know." Olivia giggled. "Or don't. I don't mind a little arrogance."

"Arrogance would imply that it's undue."

"See, just like that."

"It comes with the two Revenants. She seems to be plenty athletic, at least. Must've practiced it plenty before she entered Urasaria."

"Maybe that's something you can train with her."

"It's what I was thinking for now. Did your training with Naomi go well?"

"It did. I was just about to step in the shower before you called, actually... I'm pretty sweaty right now, you know."

"Alright." It was silent for a few seconds, until Iris said: "I was about to have dinner with Suki, but I'll let you know when I'm back at Urasaria."

"Okay."

"Bye."

As Iris hung up, she frowned, and felt again that reservation towards Olivia. During their conversations she could follow her habits with other women, yet in the reflections of their conversations did such anxieties ember in herself. Again she did not understand how she had seen other couples merely coexist without speech, as she had attempted to do so earlier; it was not a method of romance she seemed able to loose within herself. She felt still that this relationship was an abstraction, an idea that had invaded herself; she could perform what she understood as how other couples interacted, yet could not melt her consciousness with physical action alone. There was a surfeit of feeling that she thought should be accessible, yet by some terrible selective pressure had she become a partition of herself.

===

While it did not bother Iris, she had noted that Suki tended to leave nothing for the imagination with her outfits; whether for attention or simply how she dressed Iris could not be sure. She led her to the arena for swap week, then separated from her as the second-years checked their tablet.

"Suki." said Eva.

Iris glanced over to Eva, reminding her not to say anything untoward around Suki. Eva gave Iris a look like she could not believe such accusations, then coughed to herself as she saw how Suki was dressed.

"What was that for?" said Suki after she walked up.

"Your mentor and me are friends."

Suki felt she was again being subtly mocked, and as she could not be wrong, it was the universe that was wrong. "Okay, whatever. Are you going to make me practice my shit too?"

'She really is a bratty little bitch.' thought Eva. "Just need to know your abilities and I'll show you mine. We can go out hunting after."

Suki ran through her abilities quickly, and Eva noted none Iris had not already told her. Afterwards they ran into Violet, who politely introduced herself to Suki, yet Suki did not trust her intentions with her. Violet's badge read: QUICKSILVER. "Hello, my name's Violet. I'm Eva's mentor - it's nice to meet you. Eva, do you need any help?"

Suki frowned. She recalled when she was a little girl and her father had taken her to meet some of her teachers, and one had extended his hand out to pat her hair and she bit him. She had always believed there was something like an aura to him, a supposition she would have naturally bragged as fact had he ever been accused of wrongdoing. In confirmation of her paranoia, she need only see the instances of correctness and not when nothing came of them. "No."

Eva rubbed the back of her neck. "No, I just- let's just- sorry, she's Iris's- let me just head out with her for a couple of days and I'll get back with you."

And head out with her Eva did, encountering much of the same issues Iris already had, albeit Suki's commentary on Olivia's tits were at least partially matched by Eva. It was for their reason she liked Eva more than she did Iris, as well as her relatively weaker Revenant, for less of herself seemed a trespass against Sukidom; there was no temptation to ruin herself in comparison, thus fortification was superfluous.

At the end of their first fight Eva crouched down to scan, and again Suki felt that hunger.

Eva glanced back, then muttered. "Just saying an electric eel would've been helpful there."

"I told you we didn't need it and we didn't, so what's the problem?"

Eva thought about expressing a few thoughts right now, but decided against it so as not to harm Iris's relation with her protege. She hunted only once again with Suki for the week, where much the same belligerence occurred, and thought this either an endemic trait of Suki, or some odd continuance of emotion from before she had entered Urasaria.
