Winter set in and Sana's belly grew. Once or twice a month, she sent her parents an email and she even sent them a scan Romero took of the baby in utero. They did get to see their neighbors quite frequently. Romero often went hunting with the men from the tribe. They liked having him along because he often heard and saw game long before anyone else and he never missed. Sana made good friends with quite a few women from the tribe who were happy to share cooking tips and show her things she could forage for.
Of course, once the weather was very cold and snowy, Sana was happy to receive visitors. Romero didn't want her out wandering around in the cold and snow with the other women. She wasn't huge pregnant yet, but was still quite obviously pregnant. She had to settle for getting her exercise via video games in the family room.
They learned Naomi was the Chief Cloud's daughter. As for Eugene's remains, where they were was fine with Chief Cloud. If that made Eugene feel close to Naomi, that was fine with him.
They helped Romero get horses for him and Sana so they each had a horse. Life was good as Romero monitored Sana's pregnancy. He set a broken arm and put stitches in a young man's leg that'd had a bad fall. The wolves moved their den so they weren't a problem. Chief Cloud was sure they had only attacked the girls because they'd gotten too close to the den. And someone was always bringing them something in appreciation for the doctoring Romero happily provided.
