Chapter 14: Swindling Old Man

Shi Fan could feel something about this person he is currently looking at.

"He's strong." Shi Fan said to himself after suffering a tinge of pressure this old man has given him after those few words.

"Do you have virtual watches here storekeeper?" Shi Fan asked remembering his purpose of coming here.

"Oh yes we do have it, young man, what type of virtual watches do you want? The plain one or the Emperor Watch that can connect to the game?" the old man spoke like a passionate storekeeper. Shi Fan, however, can still sense the pressure he is giving off.

"The latter please and can you also connect it to my bank account?" Shi Fan inquired further while silently investigating this old guy.

"Yes, I can do that for you and the total price is 7000 credits." The old man said then he smiled.

"You mean 700 credits? How cheap I'll buy it then" Shi Fan happily said. Emperor watched are not cheap after all.

"Nope, you forgot to add a zero." the old man clicked his tongue informing the young man.

"So 700 plus 0 is still 700 ain't it?" Shi Fan was confused.

"No kid. What I mean is 7000, not 700." the old man said smilingly emphasizing the 7000.

"7000 CREDITS?! ARE YOU INSANE?" Shi Fan said angrily and his eyes opened wide. Note that the virtual capsule Shi Fan bought almost cost him 35,000 Credits which is already 18 months of him saving 80% of his pay from the company.

"Of course young man didn't you know how hard it is now to procure Emperor Watches for D-Type planets now?" the old man rebuked strangely, however, Shi Fan can see him still smiling. However, what he said is certainly true. With the current total human population, not everyone can be given the same items and privileges because materials are still unbelievably scarce.

"But 7000 credits is still too much!" Shi Fan angrily replied.

"It's still the same for other stores even if you ask them their prices." the old man said.

"That's impossible. Even if materials are scarce it can only reach about 4000 credits for Emperor Watches, you old swindler." Shi Fan finally gave up and released his temper. Shi Fan reasoned himself that even if materials are rare it should be not the reason for the abrupt increase in price tag.

Ever since childhood, his temper was very good however after experiencing difficulties he knows how hard currently life is and therefore his spending lessened and every time money comes up he is always troubled with the fact that he is poor and he hates swindlers the most.

"Swindler? Watch your mouth young man I'm a lot older than you." the old man replied, however, his tone doesn't sound one bit angry.

"Fine fine I'll give it to you for a discount"

"How much?. You are not that much of a swindler after all." Shi Fan smiled. Discounts are the best excuse to buy expensive items after all.

Seeing the smiling Shi Fan the old man revealed a beautiful smile then said.

"One percent."

And at that moment Shi Fan...almost died.
