"Huh?" Dylan opened his eyes, his eyelids twitched as the sun rays fell on his eyes. "Morning! Did you sleep well?" Helen walked in the room as a sweet scent followed her and filled the room instantly. She dried out her hair with a towel.
Dylan was surprised to see Helen, he was still thinking about the dream. Helen casually went out to the lobby and gently squeezed her hair dry. 'Have I been dreaming? Is it just my nightmare?' He licked the corner of his lips as he wiped the sweat off his neck with his index finger.
He got out of the room and walked towards Helen to hug her tight from behind, he wrapped his arms around her neck, rested his head on her shoulders and closed his eyes tight.
"Ehh haha, you little baby, I just took shower, don't rub your sweat on me." Helen said but caressed his face with her hand.
Dylan avoided doing surgeries all day, he still felt that he needed a small break, yet he did not get into any trouble because of his reputation and talent, also because he was close with the director of the hospital.
He spent his time to browse around a topic that bothered him the whole day. 'So, it was just a dream. But that is after I heard the cry and slept. So did I really heard the cry? The cry is not part of the dream. Who could have thought.' Dylan thought as he was done with the day. He entered the car park, he thought to check up on the old security guy who had been nice to Dylan from day one of his work.
"Oh! If isn't Dr. Dylan, how was your work today sir?" The old man humbly bowed his head down and greeted Dylan.
"Ah, Mr. Hendrick! it was not that bad, and were you alone today? Aldini did not come with you?" Dylan looked behind Hendrick as he talked.
"Ah, no he is right here, that naughty cat." Hendrick turned back and scanned his sitting place to look for his cat, Aldini.
"Grrrrr" groans of a cat were heard coming from behind a pillar. The cat was staring intensely at Dylan and groaning.
"Hey Boy! It is me Dylan. Did I become a new person to you already?" Dylan said with his arms spread. But he noticed something strange right away.
The cat was staring behind Dylan as it groaned. Hendrick forcibly pulled Aldini before Dylan. And the cat was cowering and throwing its claws in front of it. But the stare of the cat was fixated behind the left shoulder of Dylan.
Dylan was puzzled by the cat. It was acting as if there was an invisible person beside Dylan. "Ah doctor! Ignore Aldini, he is behaving odd today. You please be on your way." Hendrick said as he caught the cat and put the collar around him.
Dylan was still speechless and scared of what just happened. He ignored the incident and walked towards his car, but the pace of his heart beat increased as he entered the dark corner. He was still self conscious of his shoulders as he unlocked his car.
He got seated inside, placed his finger on a scanner automatically starting the car. He checked one last time if he forgot anything important and got ready to head out. He looked at the driving mirror to reverse his car.
But his eyes widened and his grip on the gear rod tightened. Amber and her baby were sitting at the back seat. They stared at him with an emotionless face. Their faces were bloody and Amber had her wrists cut.
A dark mark around her neck as if she had been suffocated or hanged. This made Dylan lose his mind. He immediately looked back and nobody was present in the back seat.
He again slowly turned his head towards the mirror and this time the mirror did not show him anyone. He again turned behind to check hi backseat.
And Amber with her baby were in his backseat this time. Dylan could not even utter a word than gaze at the horrific sight before him. Amber was staring at him without blinking. Dylan's gaze went towards the baby.
The baby in Amber's lap turned its face towards Dylan with a creepy smile surfacing on its face. This time the baby had perfect round face covered in blood, but the eyes were turned back completely and the baby smiled disturbingly.
Dylan immediately got off the car while still looking at his backseat, he stumbled in his traces, turned back and ran to Hendrick. He was panicking and gasping heavily but upon reached Hendrick. He calmed his breathing and tried to act normal.
"Ahh, Hendrick, i cannot find my car in this dark. Can you come how me where it was parked?" Dylan asked him
Hendrick first stared at the lights that were hanging from the ceiling. It was not that dark. He walked first with Dylan behind him. The car that was parked in the corner was a little dark but was still clearly visible.
"Uh, there you go sir!" Hendrick said as he waved his hand towards Dylan's car.
Dylan however looked at the back seat first. He got in hesitatingly and checked his car and his front mirror to see if anybody else was in the car.
Hendrick was puzzled by this never seen behavior of Dylan. But he did not say anything respecting the stature of Dylan.
"T-thanks for your help Hendrick, keep this change." Dylan handed out a $100 bill to Hendrick. "S-sir I just did my job, please do not reward me of something that I do not deserve." Hendrick said while he held the $100 bill in front of the window of Dylan's car.
"What are you talking about! You did a good job. I will take my leave now." Dylan reversed his car and headed out of the building quickly. He was still in a panic and kept looking at his driving mirror as he drove.
"It said that when someone died because of us, they may turn into evil spirits and haunt the person responsible to have revenge, but why is the mother present there as well? I do not remember her dying. Or is she even alive now?' Dylan reminisced about the stuff he browsed earlier that day while being worried about what is happening in his life.
