The plan

After Emery reluctantly followed in his wife's footsteps, Eleanor was counting the minutes. She tried hard to eavesdrop, but she heard nothing. Five minutes passed, and Eleanor was getting anxious. She can no longer stop herself from being a nosy mother-in-law. So she tiptoed to the sliding doors near the fish pond. The glass doors were originally covered with two layers of long curtains. But now, the thick dark brown layer was pulled at both ends and tightened up using tassels. The only layers left are the soft grey sheers.

To avoid being seen by the couple. Eleanor hides behind the thick brown curtain at the end of the glass door. She started eavesdropping, and she felt angry as the conversation went on between Emery and Rhea. Finally, she could not be playing deaf anymore. She slid the glass door opened and stepped out with arms akimbo.

"No. Never!" Eleanor's voice was high, as if speaking in front of a high school students' assembly on Monday morning. She is indeed a very respectable school principal. They called her Principle Harris.

"In our family, no one has been divorced yet. Not even our relatives are a divorcee. We are traditional families that believe marriage is for life. Both of you don't even try to act arrogantly. Everyone has a problem. Every problem has a solution. Find that solution. If you don't succeed in finding it yourself, seek guidance from others. We are all ears in case both of you want to talk. "

During all the commotion, Erza drove Emery's car into the porch. When she alighted the car, she heard inaudible voices. Ignoring it, she grabs the door handle to the house. Erza's footsteps halted when she went inside the house. She had already heard a voice when she came out of the car. But she thought it was nothing. Apparently, Eleanor was torturing Emery and Rhea. Erza really doesn't want to interfere in this matter. She can't bear to listen to mom's lecturing. So slowly, she slipped behind Eleanor and fled the scene.

"Both of you have a lot to discuss. I don't want to hear any trouble. As far as I know, the two of you have made peace!"

She still could hear her mom's voice when she climbed up the stairs. It seems like Eleanor already know about Emery's and Rhea's marital problem. When Emery showed up last week and decided to stay, their mom didn't ask anything. Even their dad keeps his question to himself. It seems like today is the judgment day for Emery and Rhea.

Erza felt a sense of relief wash over her as she leaned against the door to her bedroom. Finally, she had managed to escape from the clutches of Principle Harris and her endless lecturing. Humming a pleasant tune to herself, Erza began to disrobe, removing her clothing until she was left only in her undergarments. Just as she was about to make her way into the bathroom, the door to her bedroom was suddenly flung open from the outside, startling her.

Rhea's face was pale as she sat anxiously on the couch. "Help me," she muttered. "Your mother is furious. She found out that Em and I are getting a divorce."

Erza skipped the bathroom and instead put on a bathrobe before sitting down next to Rhea. "How did she find out?" she asked nonchalantly. Erza predicted this moment would come.

"I believe she was earsdropping our conversation in the yard just now." When she was about to cry after explaining to Emery about the incident, Eleanor suddenly appeared and cut off their conversation. Indeed, she felt terrified at that time. Thankfully, Eleanor did not ask anything about Desmond.

"How is Em handling all of this?" Erza asked, feeling intrigued.

Rhea shrugged. "His heart is as cold as ice. What do you expect?"

Emery was unconcerned at all when Eleanor interrupted their quarrel. His face was annoyed. Rhea does not know to whom he directed those feelings. He doesn't even bother to look at her. After Eleanor had warned them, Emery just stormed inside and went to the kitchen, purposely ignoring her. Feeling somewhat hurt, Rhea brings herself to Erza's room.

Erza chuckled at Rhea's thoughts. It appeared that Jane's influence had affected Rhea's judgment as well. Her brother may sometimes looks cold and unperturbed, but he actually has a good heart. She doesn't understand why Emery is 'playing hard to get.'

"I have an idea, but I could use your help," Rhea said. She has been thinking about it for a few days now. It might be the answer she was looking for to save herself.

"What's your idea?" Erza asked, looking at Rhea's mischievous expression. She seemed to be cooking up something sinister in her mind.

"I don't think Emery and I have a future together. My heart just isn't in it. But your mom will not let us part. So…. " Rhea confided to Erza.

"So?" Erza pumped impatiently.

Rhea hesitated before continuing. "I think it would be best if Jane married Emery. That way, there wouldn't be a broken family in your big happy family."

"Are you mad?" Erza almost screamed her lungs out. This is so outrageous. Rhea has lost her mind.
