Chapter 1 - Awakening

<< Dive Into The Spirit >>

Floating on the surface of the ocean was 13 year old Brandon Skyler. He has shaggy blonde hair and dark blue eyes. He was wearing a green shirt, blue denim vest, blue jean pants and white sneakers. He looked up at the sky and thought to himself, "I've been thinking about this lately. Is this the real life or is this just fantasy?" He was then swept down in a huge whirlpool.

As Brandon was sinking into the ocean he thought, "Oh holy crap! This doesn't look like it's going to end well!" When he reached the end of the whirlpool he was on the shore of a rather large island. Off in the distance he was able to see a huge set of ruins. After wading through the water he started to run into the jungle. As Brandon was running he heard a voice say, "You are the one who shall save the worlds from chaos."

He stopped long enough to gaze at the sky and ask the voice, "Who are you? What do you mean by that?" The voice remained silent and Brandon shrugged his arms. He then resumed his trek to the ruins. He was tired and exhausted upon his arrival at the ruins but Brandon caught his breath and said, "Ain't nothing going to break my stride. I'm going to keep on trooping. I have to find out what is in these ruins." He then took a lit torch from the wall of the entrance and walked inside.

Rats were scurrying around the floor of the ruins. Tiny spiders dangled from their webs. Bats flitted away from the light of Brandon's torch. The deeper he walked in the ruins the darker it was. However there was a bright light at the end of a long hallway. Brandon shielded his eyes from the bright light and put his torch back on the wall. He let out a surprised gasp when he walked in the room.

There was three statues lined up against the wall. The first statue was the structure of a fighter. The second statue was the structure of a magician. The third and final statue was the structure of a thief. Each of them were holding a specific weapon. The fighter statue was holding a sword. The magician statue was holding a staff. And the thief statue was holding a dagger.

It was then that Brandon had heard the voice say, "It's time for you to awaken to your destiny. Select the one true weapon of your choice. Only then can you depart on your journey to protect the worlds from chaos." It had dawned on him that he was engulfed in an aura of green light. "Hey now wait just a minute! What the hell are you talking about?" He retorted. When the voice had remained silent Brandon sighed and stared at the three large statues in the room.

After Brandon had thought about it for a short moment he walked over to the fighter statue. He took the sword in his left hand and held it aloft. He then heard the voice say, "The path of the fighter. One who is swift on their feet. One who values strength and agility over all else. There's no turning back after being awakened as the fighter." He nodded his head and was engulfed in light.

Next thing Brandon knew was that he was standing on the shore of the island. He sat down and stared out into the sunset. He then thought to himself, "I don't feel any different. I still feel like myself and yet I can't shake this feeling that I am stronger." He then heard the voice say to him, "Beware of the spirits of hell. They will devour your own spirit if you're not cautious." Brandon felt a low rumbling underneath him and heard a loud cracking.

Rising up from the ground were five wispy spirits. They flitted around Brandon's head and he swatted them away. He laughed and said, "Oh please! These little guys don't look like they can even devour a pineapple!" So he then unsheathed his sword and sliced them in half. Before he could sheath his sword in his belt ten spirits rose up. He smirked and said, "Shoot this ain't nothing! I'm not even breaking a sweat!"

However after Brandon had slain five spirits the others fused together to form a goblin. It had lime green skin, beady eyes and razor sharp fangs and claws. It snarled at him and he said, "Heh! This still isn't enough to scare me! I'll just cut you down to size!" He then sliced off the goblin's hands before kicking it across the beach. He ran up to the goblin and jammed his sword in its chest. It let out a soft growl and vanished into a dark energy cloud.

And yet before Brandon tried to sheath his sword again there was an ear piercing screech. Several spirits were rising from the ground where the large crack was. They accumulated into a large black scaled dragon. It flapped its wings and breathed a torrent of fire. The flames had nearly burned Brandon alive but he rolled out of the way. He brandished his sword and shouted, "I ain't afraid of you! I'll show you my brave heart!"

He then ran towards the dragon and up its tail. He then jammed the blade of his sword in the dragon's back. It let out a pained roar and flew straight up in the air. The dragon tried to snap at Brandon's head with its sharp jaws. However before it could he removed his sword and free fell to the island beach below. Luckily for him the young boy had landed in the ocean. So after he had swam ashore Brandon saw the dragon flying overhead.

It flew back down and breathed another torrent of fire. Brandon quickly dodged the flames and ran under the dragon. After it landed on its hind legs Brandon begun to slash them with his sword. The dragon roared with pain and swiped him with its tail. Brandon's sword was flung across the beach and got buried in the sand. In a frantic search for the sword Brandon was about to be bitten by the dragon. It was futile for the dragon though.

Brandon had found his sword just in time to stab the dragon in the head. It let out a loud ear piercing screech and flew up in the air. The dragon roared loudly, spread its wings wide and pulsated with dark energy. It was then that the dragon erupted into a large black dark energy cloud. Just when Brandon thought there was more enemies the crack in the beach was sealed up. With a sigh of relief Brandon sheathed his sword and fell on his back side.

He then looked up at the evening sky and thought to himself, "Something tells me that this isn't the real life. Everything that just transpired is exactly from a fantasy life. But I ain't complaining, not one bit. That just means that my life won't be boring and dull." He then heard the voice say, "You have done well to prove to me that you have the strength and mettle of the chosen hero. Now then it's time for you to awaken Brandon Skyler."
