Total Annihilation

The clashing of eyes between two people from different races happened in that very moment.

Suprise colored Vincent's eyes for a second. He was too far for a mere human to sense, but Guillotin Cutter managed to find him. Then there must be another reason for this.

"Could it be the limb in his possession resonate with Shinobu? " Vincent guessed, "Or maybe it's just him being the vampire hunter, so it's not weird either if he could sense vampire through some dubious means."

"Either way I had to defeat him and take back what is mine." Vincent leaped from the top of the 30 meters tall building, cracking the concrete roof.

The wind give way to Vincent as he leaped up like a rocket. After Vincent lose the momentum and reached his maximum height, he whirled his body in the air and accelerated his fall as fast as possible towards the vampire hunter standing on the street.

The wind split up violently as Vincent dived at incredible speed. His diving speed also get much faster the closer he got to the ground until you could see nothing but a blur in the end.

-- Boom!!

The blurred figure descends like a meteor, generating a huge explosion. The impact destroyed the whole street, creating a storm of dust and wreckage. Slowly the radius is getting stronger and wider as the storm swept everything in its path, wrecking various unmanned infrastructures and shattering the glass of every building 500 meters away from the impact.

A few minutes later...

Amidst the rumbling sound of wreckage and surge of dust smothering the place stood wide-eyed Vincent as he looked at the destruction he had caused.

"This is quite difficult... I ended up using too much strength." Vincent mumbled as he looks around the wrecked place.

There is a huge spiderweb-like crack spreading across the street with him at the center.

Before he made a contact with the street and forged destruction, Vincent saw that Guillotin Cutter didn't really notice his presence at all. His sight keep focused at Shinobu direction, meaning he is no way stronger than ordinary human in physical or perception. He just managed to sense Shinobu is all.

That's why Vincent used that moment to changed his landing trajectory far away from the man. Vincent had no intention to kill him. He planned to use his landing impact as a distraction and personally incapacitate Guillotin Cutter by himself.

But he would never have thought that the landing was far from a mere distraction. But a complete annihilation.

Vincent sighed at the sight of his surroundings...

No matter where he turned, Vincent saw no sign of life whatsoever. He could only continue to explore the dusty place for any sign of life, hoping that the priest will be alive and just being swept by the impact.

Luckily it was the inhabited location, otherwise, there would be many innocent victims involved in his blunder.

Days of killing Grimm in the forest had increased his control over his vampire strength to a certain degree, but if he increased the output drastically to perform stronger attack intended for AOE effects or something similar just like what he did earlier, it tends to get harder to control.

He felt as though there was a boundary in controlling his strength. If he put his power in stages, then stage one is enough to play with his students just like what he did in his class.

Any stronger than that will cross the stage one boundary and it would make the power become a lot harder to control and end up destroying the place like what happened right now. He decided to call the stage beyond stage one as stage two.

As for what comes after stage two? Vincent absolutely had no idea whatsoever. But one thing is clear, he never uses all of his strength so far...

Vincent stopped his thought and directed his concentration on finding the priest.

After 30 minutes of searching, Vincent finally found the priest beneath some rubble. Fortunately, he was still alive and breathing. It's very likely that the man was swept by the storm and crashed into some buildings which render him unconscious.

Vincent plopped the priest in a relatively safe place after making sure he had no serious injury. The commotion is going to attract people's attention anyway, so the ambulance will be on the way for sure.

Killing is a no go for him in this world. The moment Izumi Gaen, the all-knowing and her follower deemed him dangerous, his life might become a hundred times more harder than nightmare mode.

Strength and power is not everything in the world of Monogatari where the pureblood vampires stronger than Shinobu roamed the earth and others godlike oddities slumber along the street.

Even the human here cannot be underestimated, especially the oddities specialist. This can be seen by how Meme managed to steal Shinobu's heart stealthily using an unknown method without her noticing, weakening her power drastically which leads to her current state.

Vampire is the king of oddities and one of the hardest to kill. If Vincent develops a conflict with them, even though they might not be able to kill Vincent, they could use some nasty tricks to sealed Vincent away for eternity.

Just thinking about it gives him shudder. Depending on the duration and circumstances, being sealed could be worse than death.

That's why Vincent had no intention to clash with them where there's nothing to be gained. As long as they did not bother him, Vincent had no reason to bother them either.

Vincent proceed to carry the limb out of the scene. Lingering too long in that place is not a wise move.

The abandoned cram school is not safe for him and Shinobu as Meme might reside in that place right now. But Shinobu needed time to assimilate with her sealed limb, so Vincent carried her along toward a hotel some distance away from the second specialist.

They're not too close to be noticed in case the second specialist had a way to detect Shinobu just like Guillotin Cutter, but they're also not that far from the target either in case they had been alerted by the attack that hit upon their comrade earlier. If that happens, Vincent's task would be a lot harder than he could imagine in case they fled to their headquarter.

After all, Araragi in the story managed to gather all the limbs due to Meme acting as the mediator between parties, thus they won't flee the battlefield.

That's why Vincent has to retrieve all of the limbs as fast as possible before they could escape.

After they reached the hotel room, Vincent immediately gave the limb back to Shinobu and said, "I will wait outside."

But before he managed to walk past the door, Vincent stopped.

Glancing back, Shinobu was clutching his shirt with her small hand.

"Vincent... I want you to stay here." Shinobu whispered softly.

Looking at the flushed Shinobu, a warm smile formed on Vincent's lips.

"Okay, let me see my fiance in all her glory."
