: Micheal, I’m Sorry

Kayda instantly froze. Her heart was in her throat as a deep drum like pulse pounded inside of her head.

She felt scared, anxious, and sad. The twirling emotions inside of her gathered together into a storm that poured into her heart. Why, why did she meet him here?

Once she heard his voice calling out to her, she could feel her eyes warm. Her hands clenched into fists protectively over her heart, as if it would be ripped out of her chest.

She took a breath. Then another. It hurt. Her eyes turned with raw emotions. She could feel herself unwinding.

Slowly, she took a step out. A nervous step that hesitated every second.

Once Micheal saw her figure, his grip tightened on his sword. Once she took another step, his sword was drawn, but once he saw her face, the sword that was once tightly gripped in his hand fell to the floor with a thud.

He could see her. The emotions that wirled in her eyes. The sadness and apologies.

She looked so unfamiliar, but at the same time he remembered her clearly.

His eyes reddened. He could feel his throat burn as his fists clenched.

"Kayda."

A single word. A single word that consumed the space between them.

Kayda choked at his voice. But she easily held back her tears. She wasn't allowed to cry. Not in front of him.

"Michea-" before she could even get his name past her lips, a fist came flying at her face.

Instinctively, she dodged.

Micheal gritted his teeth. An overwhelming emotion engulfed him in waves as his eyes burned with emotion.

Kayda could see the pain in his gaze. She could see the tremor in his fist, but she had no right to reach out to him. She only gritted her teeth and continued to doge his flurry of fists.

This continued. Each of them pushing and pulling in a dangerous dance. Micheal came nowhere near to hitting her. But he didn't care. It was obvious he wasn't her match. But he could care even less. Screw her. He wouldn't stop until everything, all the pent up rage, sorrow and betrayal had left his system.

And when he looked into her knowing eyes, containing the same sorrow he felt, he could feel his chest boil.

"Aaaah!" With a loud shout, he threw out a fist with as much power as he could muster behind it. Expecting Kayda to doge. But she only stood still.

When his fist connected to her chest, he could feel a sickening crack beneath his skin as she stumbled to the ground with a thud.

She landed hard on her tailbone. Her rear hurt but her chest felt as if it was filling with molten lava, as it slowly rose and acidicly burned her throat as it left the corner of her lips.

Not even wiping away the blood, she looked up at Michael who froze in the same position he hit her in. His eyes glazed as he looked at her with a dumbfounded expression.

She could feel her heart break all over again at the sight. He was just a young boy in her eyes. The bitter and sorrowful feeling she felt while looking at him seemed to be permanently engraved in her heart.

After a second, Michaels fist dropped to his side while he collapsed to the ground. His armor clanking as he fell while the sound of his body hitting the pavement sounded hollow and lifeless.

"Why?" He whispered.

He didn't look up. And she didn't need to look into his eyes to know what he was talking about. But she stayed silent.

"Why did you kill her Kayda? Why?" His voice remained that of a whisp. When he suddenly raised his head and glared at her with eyes red, tears threatening to breach loose. The bitter and hateful expression that was mixed with sorrow and betrayal made Kayda's heart clench.

Her head lowered in remorse. "Micheal." Her voice was desperate. But the expression on Micheal's face didn't change.

"Micheal." She repeated before she took a breath to calm herself. Steadying her shaking hands. "Not once, have I forgotten what I've done." She steeled herself as she looked up to meet Micheals eyes. "And not once have I ever regretted it."

Her words were like a physical blow to his chest making him breathless. But she didn't stop there.

"I killed her Micheal. I took her life. But Micheal, if I didn't, something worse would have." Her words flowed without emotion. As if she was just recounting words from a script. But the strain in her voice betrayed how hard she was trying not to break.

Micheal tilted back his head. A look of ridicule and sorrow filled his gaze. "You think I care?"

His tone caused her to inwardly flinch as the iciness reached her bones.

An insane look filled his eyes as he looked off into the distance. He gave a laugh, but it was one that only made the heart cringe and the ears cry.

"You know what I heard when I went back to that place?" He paused, but a pained smile imprinted itself on him.

"I heard that everyone escaped dew to the raging insanity of a beast. I thought you had escaped with them. That I would finally be able to see you all again." He laughed emptily.

"I remember the joy I felt when I went to look for you guys. But, it was all destroyed when I went to find you." His eyes met hers, but they had turned red. The raw pain she saw in them that was showcased to her made her mouth quiver. She tried so desperately to suppress her own sobs.

"I was only six Kayda. I was only six when I learned about her death. I was only a child when I lost everything!" His voice rose. But Kayda didn't flinch or look away.

"You killed her Kayda! You killed my sister and left her there at the Black Sea Arena! You killed Beatrix."

And finally, without any more strength left, Kayda's coughed up a mouth full of blood.
