Unexpected

"What is Clara doing here?" Gwen asked Freya after they have exited Lydia's office with the case files in their hands.

"I have no idea, I've never seen her here before. I don't know why she would skip two towns to come to our law firm." Freya knew that there has to be something going on for Clara to be there, not to mention what Luke told her about Clara's relationship with Dr. David.

"Thank you James, for agreeing to talk to us about Nathan Brady." Freya told James who was sitting across from her and Gwen. They had called him with Gwen's phone earlier that day to ask him if they could meet up and talk, and he had agreed. They were sitting in a coffee shop to discuss the case.

"It's no problem, I will tell you what I can to help you win your case."

"That's great, James! Can you tell us everything you know about Nathan's relationship with your sister, Cathy?" Gwen asked James with her pen and paper ready to jot down any valid points.

"Sure," James sighed and placed both arms on the table. "Cathy is my older sister, but she is so much younger than Nathan, and they worked together. She was his junior and she somehow became his mistress even though she knew he was married, I didn't know until 2 months back.

I tried talking to her about stopping the affair and tried to get her to see how she's ruining their family, but she didn't listen. She told me that Nora already knew about the affair for 5 months now and has tried to stop it too, but Nathan claimed he loved them both. Nora caught them when she answered Cathy's call while he was in the bathroom. Cathy started seeing Nathan over a year ago and she truly believes that she is in love with him.

She has called Nora many times begging her to let Nathan go, so that she can marry him, but Nora didn't listen, she ended up blocking Cathy. Nathan was very angry when he found out that Cathy has been calling his wife, and he had a fight with Cathy. After she told me what happened, I marched to his house and warned him to stay away from Cathy, but he continued seeing her.

Percy came to know about the affair and told me to stop my sister from seeing her dad, but Cathy continued her relationship with Nathan and he only saw her at work, he didn't care to look for her outside of work, and I had had enough. So I went to see him at their work place to reason with him, but he got angry and that led to a fist fight between him and I."

"Sorry to say this about Percy's dad, but he's a jerk. I hope that Cathy gets over his death soon and meet someone that actually cares about her." Freya told them sincerely before she asked James a series of questions.

"Where were you when he was murdered?"

"I was at a friend's house when Cathy called me to tell me about his death."

"When was the last time you had any contact with him?"

"Two weeks ago when we had that fight."

"How many times have you been to his house apart from the time you warned him to stay away from Cathy?"

"I have been there to see Percy or drop her off three or four times before I knew he was having an affair with Cathy."

"Have you ever had any contact with Ms Thorn?"

"Yes, I have spoken to her once when I went to see Percy."

"Did you get all that, Gwen?" Freya asked Gwen as she faced her waiting for her reply.

"Yes. That's all that we need from you James, thanks." Gwen smiled at James and stood up in unison with Freya.

"Let us know if you find anything new about Mr Brady." Freya told James as he also stood up.

"Freya, can I talk to you?" James's words stopped her from walking out of the coffee shop with Gwen.

"I will wait for you in the car." Gwen sauntered out of the coffee shop to wait by Freya's car, they both watched her before James started speaking.

"What you saw at the town's party was nothing, Percy and I don't have anything going on between us. Finn and Percy broke up recently, and I know that he has grown close to you, but you didn't tell him about the hug, did you? He might have thought that we were dating, but I was only comforting her because of her dad's relationship with Cathy."

"Don't worry, I didn't tell him about the hug, and Finn and I aren't that close."

"From what he has told us, it seems like you two are about to start dating." What he said surprised Freya and she got worried if Luke was among those that Finn told about their 'closeness'. It was clear to her now that he talks to much and cares more about his opinion than hers, she had better stop answering his calls and stay far away from him.

"What? Finn and I are just friends, how can he even think that there's something more. Was Luke there when he told you that?"

"Yes."

Freya approached Alan who was sitting at his cubicle and working on his computer amongst other staff.

"Alan, Can you help me find out why Clara Wilde was here earlier?" Alan looked up from his computer and beamed at her.

"I can do that, but I want you to appear in court in my place for the case you passed to me."

"Won't Lydia know that I was there instead of you?"

"I will make sure Lydia doesn't know."

"Deal."

Freya's doorbell rang and she got up from her couch where she was working on her computer and went to open the door.

"Hey. I hope I didn't come too late." She was shocked to see Dr. David standing on her porch.
