Start Of The Birthday Drama

"How are we going to find the real murderer if there are no finger prints on the murder scene or CCTV?" Gwen asked at the end of the day when she and Freya were discussing the murder while standing in Gwen's cubicle.

Freya nodded, "Yeah, and Finn wants us to find the murderer while defending him. We need to talk to the police first so that we can get the information from their investigation before we start our own."

"Yeah, and we also need evidence to prove that he didn't do it." Gwen stated and she nodded agreeing with her. "Have you and Luke thought of the date of your wedding yet?"

"We agreed to do it after we've tackled the problem I'm having with Dr. David and Clara."

"That's the best. Since it's closing time, I'll be heading home now. James is taking me out on a second date." Gwen said with an excited smile.

"Aw, you two are so into each other." She teased as Gwen blushed.

"Not as into each other as Luke and you." Gwen grabbed her purse from her desk and waved at her before she headed for the door.

She went back to her cubicle and started typing in her computer trying to finish some of her work, but she couldn't concentrate because she kept thinking of going back to Luke at home.

She gave up on the work, shut down her computer and grabbed her hand bag. Standing up, she walked out of the door and to the parking lot. Ted, the guard that Luke instructed to be following her at all times as a body guard in case Dr. David shows up again was standing beside her car, he would come with her in the morning and go back to Luke's then come back in the afternoon to pick her up.

He greeted her when he saw her and opened the door behind the passenger's for her even though she had told him not to many times. She climbed in as he went to the driver's side and climbed in. He started the car and they got on the road to Community town.

Someone in a car signalled them to stop and Freya told Ted to stop. A man came out of the car and approached them, she recognized him as Seth. "Freya, how are you? I was coming to see you at your office."

She opened the door and got out facing him. "I'm fine, and I hope you are too. Was there something you needed to discuss with me?"

She asked him looking confused and he seemed a little embarrassed as he glanced at the ring on her finger, "Yes, actually, but maybe we should talk about it another time."

"What? Please tell me, you've got me all curious now." She insisted and he finally relented.

"Uh, yeah, I wanted to ask you out on a date. I know that you're engaged now, but you're not married yet. Can you give me a chance?"

Freya felt shocked that Seth would ask her out especially after knowing she was engaged. She didn't know what to say because she didn't see him that way and she didn't want to upset him, but she knew that she couldn't be with him. Luke was the man for her. "No, I can't, Seth. I'm with Luke and I agreed to marry him, that's why I'm wearing this ring."

"I know that, Freya, but give me a chance. I can prove to you that I can give you more protection than he can." He insisted, looking sad and disappointed.

"No, Seth. I love Luke, and I appreciate all the help you're giving me, but if you can't help me anymore because I can't choose you then I understand." She said not looking at him as she waited for his answer.

"I'll always help you, Freya, and I respect your decision. I'll see you around." He said and turned around to go back to his car. She climbed back into her own car, and Ted drove off.

They arrived home in no time, and she entered the house to find Luke already back and working on his computer in the living room. He looked up when he heard her enter the room, and she came to sit beside him.

"Why are you sitting so far away, baby?" He pulled her closer to him by her arm and wrapped his arm around her, "How was your day?"

She glanced at him as she intertwined their fingers, "Percy has passed away, murdered by someone, and now I have to defend Finn and find the murderer."

Luke looked shocked, "Percy has passed away?"

"Yeah, and Seth asked me out on our way here, and of course, I turned him down."

"What? Does he wish to die? When he knows we're engaged." He said with furrowed brows and a clenched jaw.

"I told him no and he understood. No need to do anything to him."

"Okay, I won't, but I don't want you around him."

"Done." She smiled at him, and he brightened up raising his other hand and running it through her hair.

She closed her eyes for a moment enjoying the feeling, he smiled at her reaction and removed his hand. "I want you to come with me to my dad's birthday party on Saturday night, my whole family will be there, I'll introduce you to them."

"I would love to go, and I would love to meet them too."

Freya walked into Betty's with Gwen to look for Nick Carter, they had gone to his office, but the receptionist told them he was there on a lunch break, so they followed him there.

They were supposed to talk to Finn first so that he can tell them what he can for them to prove him not guilty, but he hasn't been picking Gwen's calls. So they decided to get information on Nick first especially since the police labelled him a big suspect, but couldn't find anything on him.

"Nick Carter, can give us a moment of your time?"

He looked up from his chips and looked surprised to see them, "Alright, but who are you?" They both sat down on two out of the three empty chairs.

"I am Freya Jacob and this is Gwen Walters, we're both lawyers that need to clear up someone's name that has been accused of murdering Percy."

"Okay, but what does that have to do with me?" He asked chewing his food.

"We know that you were having an affair with Percy, and we need to know anything you know about her including anything that might point out her murderer." Gwen answered.

He swallowed his food and spat, "I don't know what you're talking about. I only knew Percy as the daughter of my friend, Nathan, and I don't know anything about her murder."

They both stared at him in disbelief, "We have proof that you were sleeping with her and you gave information to the media due to her request." Freya continued.

"That's not true, I'm being framed."

"Your wife doesn't know, does she?" She asked again realizing the reason for his denial.

"Keep my wife out of this and don't try talking to her either." He stood up abruptly and stalked out of the diner.

"That went well." Gwen said sarcastically as they watched him go.

Freya adjusted her long lime green dress, she and Luke have just arrived at his dad's house for his birthday party. Luke opened his door and got out just as she climbed out of the car. They walked up to the house and Luke rang the doorbell, Iris opened the door and welcomed them in.

"Luke, Freya, I'm so glad that you came."

"Yeah, it was a tight schedule at work, but I had to find time and Freya is excited to meet the family."

"Hi, how are you?"

"We're fine, thank you for asking, and I hope both of you are doing fine too."

"Yes, we are." She answered and Iris smiled saying, "Good, let's go in. Luke, your father is waiting."

Iris turned around and they followed her, they went through the hallway and arrived at another large room in the mansion where many people were talking amongst themselves, most were seated on decorated chairs and tables while some were standing.

Gwen had a work meeting to attend for her last case and she said that she would not be able to make it until later. So Freya didn't expect to see her there.

Jack was standing with two men and their wives conversing with them. Iris left them to meet him and went to welcome more guests. They approached him and he smiled when he saw them, "Luke and Freya, you've made it."

"Happy birthday dad." Luked said and Freya gave her birthday wishes too, "Happy birthday, Mr. Walters."

"You can call me dad, Freya." Jack turned to the two couples, "This is my son that I was telling you about and his fiancee."

Luke and Freya greeted them and they returned them, "Happy engagement."

"Thank you." Freya said as Luke flashed a smile.

"These are the new directors that have joined our company and their wives." Jack said introducing the four.

"We have heard so much about you, Luke. When will you start working at the company again?"The man with a bald head asked, but Luke looked uncomfortable, Jack saw this and answered for him, "Luke is currently the CEO at Stark and he won't be coming to Walters Inc. until I'm ready to handover."

The men looked surprised while their wives excused themselves to sit at a nearby table where other women were sitting. "Ah, that's a good idea, but doesn't he need to know how the company runs before he becomes the CEO there."

"Oh, yes, He already knows how it runs, He does most of my work now while he's at home."

"You have thought ahead well." The man with white hair praised.
