The Butterfly - Schmetter

A battle ensued at the rooftop of a hospital. Two identically similar Night Demons fought side-by-side together. They had the majestic wings of a butterfly. Their bodies were smooth and moist. They looked like fairies as they sprinkled black dust around them. One had a ponytail, while the other was short-haired.

They called out their names.

The one with the ponytail cried, "Metterling."

The other with the short hair cried, "Schmetter."

However, when the dust gets inhaled by the people in the hospital, they begin to get even more sick. No matter what symptoms they had, their illnesses got worse no matter what medicine was given.

Anne was there facing off against these two monsters atop that roof. They kept flying around like bugs. They weaved and dodged Anne's attempts to hit them. She became increasingly agitated, but the dust didn't affect her as long as she was in her Light Guardian form. All the creatures could do was try to create gusts of wind to knock her around or go in to try and cut Anne with their razor-sharp wings.

That was until Anne grabbed a hold of an air conditioner box that was connected to the roof. She tore it off and threw it straight at one of the twins.

It came too fast and unexpected that it struck straight at the one with the ponytail.

"Metterling," it cried as it's wing was torn apart. It fell to the ground defeated and in pain. Half of it's body was ripped and torn like paper.

The other one looked down and began to feel something. It was a strange feeling. It went down to see the other creature and held it in her arms. Then, the creature began to turn to dust in it's arms leaving behind only a black coin.

Anne cracked her knuckles and prepared to finish the remaining one off.

"Schme..." the creature muttered, but didn't finish. It began to feel sorrow for it's fallen twin.

Then, suddenly, it got an intense headache.

"Schmet... Wha... What is this?" it muttered in a female voice as if she had just woken up from a dream. Anne didn't hear those words. When Anne dashed forward and began striking, Schmetter tried to dodge her blows. Anne's fists were fast and they scraped her and punched a hole into one of Schmetter's wings. She had no choice, but to retreat. She created a strong gust of wind that blew Anne away a couple of inches. However, Anne was still on her two feet in a defensive stance. But it was enough for Schmetter to escape.

She flew away and fled from the hospital leaving behind the Light Guardian she fought and the black coin of her fallen twin.

She had to keep going. She had no idea what was happening to her. She began to realize that she was a Night Demon, but there was something more. She wasn't always like this.

Anne picked up the black coin and watched the Night Demon fly away. She had no plans of letting it go. It was damaged and weak. All she had to do was follow it from the ground.

She ran and watched the sky as black dust would fall wherever she flew.

Schmetter kept flying with it's injured wing. It needed a place to rest, but when she looked down, she could see Anne following her from the rooftops. Then, as if she knew how to control her powers, she began to stop producing her dust. It was like an animal instinct, she thought. Then, when her dust faded away, she began to blend in with the dark skies above to the point where Anne couldn't see her.

"Damn it," Anne said, "Well, there's still plenty more to fight."

Anne then began to sense the appearance of another Night Demon close by. There were so many of them roaming around, she thought. It became very busy for her, not that she complained about it.

As for Schmetter, she flew tired and cold. She kept going and felt a soothing presence. There was a place that gave off such a relaxing scent. She followed it thinking that it would be a safe place. Then, she arrived at a run-down neighborhood. There was one house in particular that she felt comfortable with. It looked run-down, but the feeling overcame her own reasoning.

She flew down to the walkway, but her body was weak from her injuries. As soon as she walked to the front door, she fell to the ground only able to knock once.

The door opened. A girl walked out in surprise. At first, the girl felt a sudden chill and when she looked down, she saw the Night Demon. She couldn't feel it's presence inside the house, but now that she was out, her whole body froze.

Without thinking about it, the girl transformed. A shroud of darkness came over her revealing what Schmetter could only think of as a Light Guardian. But she felt different around them. She couldn't see the guardian's face, but this place felt safe.

As the guardian raised her chained hook to finish it off, Schmetter said one thing that made her freeze, "Help... me..."

That was the last thing, she said before feinting. And upon hearing those words, the girl froze in place shocked. Never has there been a Night Demon that could talk. The only one that they knew was Tasha, but that could only communicate when they were under it's illusions.

There were two other girls in the house, but they weren't paying attention to the front door.

"Hey, Yune, who's at the door?" Jack asked.

"Whoever it is, tell them to buzz off! I want you to show me how to make cookies," Mary shouted.

Upon hearing those words, Yune didn't know what to make of it. Was it a human afflicted with some curse brought upon by a Night Demon? Was it an actually a Night Demon? She didn't know. But the thing she did know was that whoever or whatever it was, it needed help.

Yune replied to the other girls unsure of the situation, "Looks like we have, uh... Jack, can you help lift our... guest?"
