Oh Neighbour

After getting in the taxi, many phone calls started coming in, though she only picked up Jiang Ke's.

"I'm fine, don't worry."

"That's good. Don't do anything stupid, okay? Someone like Nan Yunchuan isn't worth it, okay?"

Wen Xi smiled. "You sound even more pissed off than I do."

"Because it's maddening, alright! I've heard rumors about him before too, and I just thought a big tree attracts the gale; that it was all fake, but it turns out... Ah, never mind, let's forget about that. No matter what, I'll always be on your side, just call me if you need help, I'll be there!"

"Alright, I'll be in your care then, Boss Jiang Ke."

Jiang Ke laughed. "You can still joke around, huh? I don't have to worry about you then. Oh right, are you going home right now?"

Wen Xi thought about it. "I'll go live with my grandparents at first, for a bit."

She thought Kexin and her daughter wouldn't just let this whole thing slip by. If Yunchuan came over with them to persuade her, it'd be really difficult. It'd be better to hide at her grandparent's first.

At the old house, she had to wait at the door for her grandparents to return first.

Wearing a wedding dress at her grandparent's looked a bit weird for sure.

Under the hot sun, she felt her body heating up. She walked over to the garden and sat down under a shade.

Yunchuan was still calling her and was now starting to send messages.

She ignored it all, putting her phone on silent.

Summer was in full blow now, with greenery and birds everywhere. This was what Wen Xi liked, this kind of purity. She looked to where the chirping came from.

Suddenly, she saw a car come to a stop slowly at the front of the villa, and the remote-controlled gate opened slowly. The car drove in.

The window lowered, and a handsome face came out from the passenger seat. He looked over, and Wen Xi froze.

She stood up slowly. It was true, it was He Yan.

Suddenly, he made a bird chirp, still looking at her.

Wen Xi tensed up for no reason. It might have been because he'd caught her smiling while running.

She got her facial expressions under control before walking over.

There was a twenty-meter green path between the houses, with butterflies dancing about. Her walking over in a wedding dress really was quite a sight to behold.

When she finally reached him, she spoke first. "Mister He, is the house yours?"

She had lived here for a time when she was young and came over even after she'd grown up frequently. But she never saw him, and so she didn't know who this villa belonged to. According to her grandpa, it was some estate of a rich family, and they didn't really keep in contact. She hadn't expected it to be him.

He Yan looked at it. "It's an old house. I come by sometimes."

The man's low voice had a powerful attractiveness to it. Perhaps he didn't know it himself, but she was a musical type of person, and she was especially sensitive to voices.

"Oh... I see." She nodded, pointing to the old house beside it. "This is my grandparents' house."

And then she didn't know what else to say.

He Yan looked at her. "No keys?"

Wen Xi blinked but smiled softly. "They're coming soon, I'll wait."

"It's pretty hot out here. Come in first."

With that, he drove into the yard.

Wen Xi looked back at the long distance behind her, and no car was to be seen. Taking a deep breath, she walked into the He house.
