22 Librarian

The entire room was looking at me as I stood there. Beside me Lily just continued practicing her beginner Telekinesis, she was already used to my odd behaviors, and had seen Blood Drinker previously. I picked up the book and left. The book was useless to me now, as I had already gained from it all I could. Blood Drinker had been upgraded a lot, and no longer had a drain on my essence, granted it cost me a permanent loss of 10% of my essence, but the cost was by far in my favor. Even so, my blade was still much weaker than a telekinetic blade. If I used a telekinetic blade currently, I would have a damage potential of 11, and yet Blood Drinker could currently only do 3. Including my +3 to mind when. I arrived and the +3 when I leveled up. My magic power was only at 2, so with my level Blood Drinker would do 3 damage. But that was ok, its damage would raise a lot as I leveled, eventually surpassing the telekinetic blade.

As I was done with the book, and the telekinetic training class was currently useless to me, I decided to return it to the library, I only had it for two hours, but returning it early shouldn't have any issues. The hallways of the academy were clear, as all the students currently were in class. The library was empty when I entered, not even the librarian from before, but I dropped my book off in the drop off and turned to leave.

Behind me a faint sound of soft footsteps could be heard as I approached the door. I turned to see a hunched over elderly man walking towards me. In his hands he held several books. He seemed to be having a hard time, so I rushed over to grab the books from him. The man seemed happy to have the help as he walked over to the large librarians' desk. "Shouldn't you be in class young man? Those books just go on that cart there, I will put them away when I've rested for a bit."

Setting down the books I bowed to the elderly librarian. "That normally would be the case sir, however the Telekinetic blade book that I checked out during lunch had a connection with another skill I had, and I entered a state of enlightenment. The skill I had before absorbed the essence of the telekinetic blade, so the skill book is useless to me."

The elderly man had a small gleam in his eyes as he stroked his beard. "Absorbed the blade you say? That shouldn't be possible, not unless it was a closely related skill. Do you mind showing me the skill boy? The situation reminds me of a young man I met years ago. "

I nodded as I had no reason to hide Blood Drinker and directly summoned it to my hand. The Vampiric aura it projected cast a blood red light over the room.

The old man's eyes widened for a moment before he let out a deep laugh. "So, the young man succeeded! I never in my wildest dreams thought that Mcquire would be able to create the skill, let alone find someone to learn it from him!" The elderly man gestured towards me, obviously asking to hold the blade, I had no problem letting him exam it, so I handed it over.

"Vampiric aura, I see. No wonder it fit so well with the technique; few bloodlines would be able to fuse with it completely. It really has absorbed the essence of the telekinetic blade; I can feel the resonance of the skill. This is amazing. Even more so your essence does not seem to be depleting. "

the man cast his eyes on me with interest. It felt like my soul was played bare before him as he stared at me, his hands dancing over the blade. "A natural vampiric Esper, and I can sense a small but of the death aspect as well, even if it is not awakened. And your essence is lower than others, lower by about 10%? This must be the cost of the upgrade to the blade. A fair trade if you put in the effort."

The man paused for a moment, seemingly deep in thought. "You have already mastered your intermediate telekinetic skill, so there is no point in continuing that class. What do you say working for me during that period? Help me around the library, and you can read any of the non-skill books you want. However, you can only have one at a time, and I will even throw in a skill book of my choice for you to learn. " the man nodded to himself before I could reply. "I will speak with your teacher; I expect you here tomorrow. Now get going, your next class will start in a few minutes. "

Just like that I was dismissed, but I did not mind. The weird encounter with the librarian aside I had accomplished the reason for coming to the Library. As I returned to class the others began to come out of the classroom. I waited for my classmates and winked at lily as she came out. She smiled and walked over to me.

"Well hello there handsome, you come here often?" She teasingly asked me. I laughed in response and kissed her cheek. "How was class? Are you understanding telekinesis?" She nodded "I've already reached small success" I couldn't hide the shock on my face, her speed far outreached mine, but instead of feeling jealous I only felt happy for her. "That's amazing! With that kind of talent, you will likely become famous in the future"

As we spoke Cyan began approached us. He nodded at Lily before speaking to me "that skill you used earlier had similarities to a skill developed by my shadow clan" I thought for a moment before speaking "I'm not surprised you felt it, Mcquire used the training he got from an elder in the shadow clan as one of the components for the Esper Blade."

Cyan nodded "Mcquire you said? That crazy uncle of mine finally finished his skill?" for the second time today I couldn't hide my shock "Mcquire is your uncle? But isn't your shadow clan well shadow aspect? Mcquire is a fire aspect evolved Esper."

Cyan nodded again "Yes, my uncle had no talent in the Shadow path, and when he was old enough to leave the sect, he joined the knights. He had a few lucky encounters and evolved into a fire Esper. He returned shortly after and learned our clans Shadow Control skill before leaving again."

"That would make Skye your cousin then? We did a training mission with her a while back with the zombie horde"

"Oh so you guys had one too? We had a rather large horde in our direction as well, our clan took care of it of course, but it's strange for there to be two at around the same time".

We walked as we talked and soon found ourselves at the weapons training field. The field was filled with over a hundred students, all the ones from the assembly this morning by the looks of it. A man stood in front of the group; his hair had begun to grey but he looked to be in his late thirties.

"The following five hours of your day will be weapon training. The first two classes will be on swordsmanship and archery in that order. These are basic classes that everyone will attend. The classes two afterwards will depend on your specialty, and you will be split into groups with your class and their counterpart class. And finally, you will go to your specialty class."

"I will be your instructor for basic swordsmanship. Each of you are to grab a wooden sword from the racks. They are split into three categories short sword, Great sword, and long sword. Once you pick a sword it belongs to you, and you are expected to bring it to all the sword training classes afterwards. You have 5 minutes, go grab a sword."

All the students rushed towards the stands, as there was a limited amount of practice swords everyone wanted to grab one that suited themselves and their class. There was no surprise that the most common sword was the long sword, followed by the great sword and finally the short sword. Most of the students were inclined to grab a long sword and I had no problem grabbing a short sword. From my class the only other person to grab a short sword was Sora. The rest were happy to grab a long sword. Lily grabbed a short sword as well.

The instructor began class as soon as everyone's swords were chosen. "This is an introductory class, and we will only be going over the basics in this class. The five basic moves that we will be learning are Chop, slash, thrust, parry, and feint."

The teacher then grabbed his own sword, a massive great sword, and demonstrated each of the five moves. "Today we will be practicing the chop. Tomorrow the slash, and so forth. Begin"

We immediately did as instructed. The short sword was a one-handed sword, unlike the long sword and great sword. Well the long sword was both. I gripped the short sword in my right hand as I attempted the Chop.

After a few minutes of observation, the teachers voice rang out again. "As you have all noticed by now that if you do not have the correct stance you will not have the balance needed to make consecutive chops. I will demonstrate the stance, you need to lead with your dominate side, your foot in front of the other. Keep your knees slightly bent to help absorb the shock. "

Following the instructor's directions, it was a lot easier to perform the chop, and class went much smoother after that. Class ended and archery class began. The class went over the basics of marksmanship and archery which I already had a solid foundation in, so the class was easy.

After archery we separated into different classes. Our first class was Hidden weapons. I had zero experience with this and found it extremely difficult. Cyan however seemed like a pro who had been studying it his entire life. We worked on hiding and retrieving weapons on our person the entire class. And only after the teacher hinted that telekinesis could help did, I make any progress.
