Chapter 14

Xuan Lao had taken all the members of the Shrek Seven students to join in a mission to exterminate all the bandits on the mountain and the dark spirit master, who is the head of the notorious group. That place is where Yuhao's first tragedy event will be located at. All casualties include one death, six with severe injuries and all of them, excluding the back-up team, poisoned by a deadly gas that was lethal.

Xuan Lao instructed me to stay back at the school. Even if I could be considered an equal to the Shrek Seven Devils, I was still not part of the team. Xuan Lao exempted me from some of my classes so that I could focus on cultivating with the new training regiment he made for me. Before they left, I gave Yuhao a newly made protection charm. It was actually stronger than the ones I made before and can now act as a tracking device as well as a communication device if you insert some spirit energy, very convenient. With me becoming stronger, there's a high chance that I can actually teleport myself to Yuhao's exact location. I wanted to reassure his safety as much as possible in case my presence here in this world affected the plot in some way.

Once they were gone, I returned to my daily life here at the academy. Xuan Lao's training schedule was no joke. The assignments were incredibly hard especially added with the little spirit energy control training I have with both Lei and Feng. Feng happened to be very upset when I was no included in the mission and was still sulky about it. I was happy knowing that he was feeling the disappointment for my sake.

Right now, I'm in the battle spirit arena practising using my glaive. Xuan Lao wanted me to work on two things. One, to improve my fighting techniques and control. Two, to attempt using two essence simultaneously. The first assignment may be normal for me but the second one is not. This is pretty much multitasking. 'Work is work. I can't complain with it.'

For the next three days, I focused on those two things and made cultivating and studies secondary tasks. It was a good thing I can study fast or else I would have been lagging behind the others in class. Lei and Feng have been supportive and helpful by giving me some advice here and there. Although Feng might have sounded very reluctant, he seem to be proud of himself. I didn't think he was that much of a 'Tsundere', a term used to describe certain people in japan.

On the fourth day, I suddenly felt a jolt in my spirit energy. A familiar presence entered his mind space. 'Is that....'

Yuhao's Pov (Somewhere else - A while ago)

All of it happened in a blink of an eye. More than half of the Shrek Seven Devils can no longer fight. All of them are seriously injured and poisoned. Senior Yao Hao Xuan died...I was kidnapped by the Dark Spirit master responsible for all of this.

'Such a deadly aura. What to do? I might only have one chance! I need to calm down. I am his hostage; I can't make any light movements. Dream brother! Ice emperor! Are you there?'

Dream Brother : We are here, Yuhao. Don't panic! We are thinking of a solution. This is a problematic situation. You may have to use the power Ice emperor sealed within you, but it may damage you in the process...that protection charm can only save you once too....

'Mysterious entity' : Little worm, Little scorpion are worried? Then, let me handle it. I am familiar with those who possess a death aura. He proceeds to take over my body and confronted the Dark Spirit master.

Dark Spirit Master : "You...you are also a dark spirit master?! Hey...I'm also a follower of the death god. There no point in using those small tricks of yours. If you really are a dark spirit master, there's a chance that we can work together."

'Mysterious entity' : "Hmph! A follower of the death god? So funny. If I wanted to, I would have already become the god of death. Just from your undead spells, you dare claim yourself to be a follower of the god of death. A lich?"

This mockery angered the dark spirit master to lash out and attack him.

'Mysterious entity' : "Hmph, this aura feels so familiar...though I have forgotten my past, I now remember my name!" 'Little Yuhao'

Me : Y-yes!

'Mysterious entity' : I'll be taking a little power from the bracelet your friend gave you.

Me : The bracelet....the one Brother Yin gave me?

'Mysterious entity' : Fortunately, he seems to possess a very pure yang energy which this item is created from. I'll be taking out a bit of it but not enough for it to disappear. Enough to deal with these people.

The person using my body took out a little white coloured spirit energy tinted with gold. He used some sort of spell and released the souls that were being controlled by the Dark Spirit master. The free souls lashed out at the dark spirit master in anger , who they appear to hold a grudge against, and fiercely attacked him, leading him to his inevitable death. That 'Mysterious entity' named himself to be Yi Lai Ke Si.

3rd Pov

Everyone was relieved when Xuan Lao brought back Yuhao. Wang Dong was the first to one hug him while sobbing in relief. Though they managed to complete their mission, they had experienced great lost. Most of them thought that they will not be able to compete in the competition any longer but the conclusion made proved to be different. After Xuan Lao and Wang Yan discussed for bit, they came up with a decision.

Wang Yan: "We have come to a conclusion. We will split up. Yao Hao Xuan has died in battle. Chen Zai Feng, Xi Xi, Gong Yang Mo are seriously injured and poisoned. Xuan Lao will bring them back to the school immediately to recover. The rest of you are to come with me to participate in the tournament."

Bei Bei: "Participate in the match!?"

Sanshi: "Sister Ma and the others' injuries are not light either!"

Xuan Lao: "It is all my responsibility. There is not enough time to get members from the school. You shall do what you can. You need to hold it together till the three senior students recover. Children, the school's pride and glory rests on your shoulders. Victory and glory will be due to you. Lost and embarrassment will be due to me."

Yuhao : "Xuan Lao, what if there's enough time to bring in someone?"

Wang Yan: "Student Yuhao, what are you saying? It takes days to reach here. The school can't possibly send back-up here that quickly. To travel all that distance in an instant is impossible. Moreover, it can't be just anybody."

Yuhao : "What if there was a way to bring in one student from the school? Not just anyone. Someone strong. Originally, he should have been part of this team."

Xuan Lao: "What do you mean? Who do you have in mind?"

Yuhao: "Xuan Lao, it's your disciple. I had a conversation with Brother Yin before we left."

Yuhao: "Long distance travel! Is that true?"

Shen Yin: "Yes. I told you before I made these things by using my spirit energy and condensing them. The items are connected to me in a way, that's how I communicated with you last time. Recently my skills have been improving and I now have a large amount of energy. There a high chance that I can teleport to wherever you are if you insert your energy with the item and merge. Think of it as a form of summoning or transfer."

Yuhao : "That's incredible."

Shen Yin: "Well, it's not confirmed though. This is still a hypothesis since I've never put it into actual practice before. This may even consume a lot of energy and both of us will need to work in perfect sync to build the passage."

Yuhao : "It's still amazing."

Wang Yan: "Instant travel.....is that really possible?"

Bei Bei: "You did say that his energy resides in those accessories he gave you. It did gave you the power to use on of his skills last time. Shadow Walk, was it?"

Xiao Xiao: "Eh, really?! Something like that happened before!"

Xuan Lao: "Certainly if it's him, he's more than qualified to be a participant in the tournament. He's also stronger than several seniors. Actually if it weren't for him not wanting be be a member of the Shrek Seven Devils, he would be here."

Yuhao: "I shall give it a try." Yuhao injects his spirit energy into the bracelet. He could feel Shen Yin's familiar energy and tried to notify Shen Yin of his presence. 'This energy is connected to Brother Yin, right? So I should be able to talk to him, right? Please work!'

After a moment, the connected was made.

Shen Yin: "...Yu....Yuha....Yuhao, is that you?"

A certain voice could be heard from the bracelet.

Wang Yan: "No way, it actually worked...."

Yuhao: "B-Brother Yin, can you hear me?"

Shen Yin: "Yes. Aren't you supposed to be completing a mission or at the tournament?"

Yuhao: "The mission was a success but we ran into a problem. I'll tell you later. First, remember that talk about summoning and teleportation. We need to do that now!"

Shen Yin: ".....What....?"

Yuhao: "Please come here, right now."

Shen Yin: "I don't know what happened but it sounds urgent. I'll tell you what you need to do. Yuhao, I want you to insert as much spirit energy as you can into the bracelet."

Yuhao : "Ok!" Yuhao did exactly as told.

Shen Yin: "It's not enough....A lot more is required. For some reason, a portion of energy from the item is gone. The pathway will be too unstable."

Ma Xiao Tao: "If it's spirit energy, I can also give some."

Shen Yin : "No, not just any energy can be injected into the bracelet. If the compatibility is bad, the bracelet might recognize you as an enemy and attack. Yuhao had spirit eyes as his essence which is compatible with my divine eyes."

Wang Dong: "Then, what can we do?"

Shen Yin: "If my memory serves me right, the ones with compatible spirit energy with me are you, Wang Dong, Senior Bei Bei and Senior sister Ling Luo Chen."

All three of them nod heads at each other and added their energy to the mix. From the other side, Shen Yin could feel the different energies merging with his and he could feel the pathway created by the enlarged connected. 'Alright, this should be sufficient.'

The bracelet shone brighter and brighter, all of them had to cover their eyes. Within the light, a silhouette could be seen standing there. That figure was Shen Yin with a few sweat droplets flowing down on his face and panting. He was exhausted from the large quantity of spirit energy used for the trip.

Yuhao: "Brother Yin!"

Xuan Lao: "Looks like it is a success."

Shen Yin: "Yes, can someone explain to me what happened?"

After some explanations, Shen Yin could grasp the dire situation.

Shen Yin: "It is indeed lethal...even with my healing skill, I probably can't healing them that quickly. But if it's Senior Ma Xiao Tao, Senior Dai Yao Heng and Senior Ling Luo Chen, I can somehow manage."

Wang Yan: "Really?! Even the poison!"

Shen Yin: "Yes, but the time taken differs for each person depending on how serious their injuries and how lethal the poison are."

Xuan Lao: "That's already plenty helpful. Though it is sudden, we'll need you to become a temporary main combatant of the current Shrek Seven Devils. I trust your skills and strength. It actually surpases most seniors at school. I know that you didn't want to be part of the seven but for now will you accept this role?"

Shen Yin: ".....I accept!"
