Lost In The Forest Cont.

The fact that he was not able to feel the connection with the system made him more anxious than being lost inside this forest. However, there was nothing he can do. He still had to return home first.

Unaware that he had just lost the system, Tian Feng also made a resolve. Since he didn't know which direction to go, he would just have to go straight in one direction.

As long as he can leave the forest and meet people, he would be able to inquire about the direction of his home.

As soon as this plan surfaced in his mind, he immediately pumped all his remaining Qi into his movement technique, instantly covered hundreds of kilometers in a blink of an eye.

Tian Feng felt sunlight shining onto his face. He had finally left the darkened forest.

Unfortunately, it was not the side which his mother was waiting for him. There was no lake here, there was nothing here but mountains and trees. It was no longer a forest, but it also wasn't a town.

Tian Feng sat down inside a big tree trunk to recuperate his lost Qi. Tian Feng felt that his absorption speed has drastically slowed down. He wasn't sure if it has anything to do with the location or the system.

---

Dabao was a middle-aged man with an average build. He was wearing commoner's clothes with a sack on his back, giving off an aura of a seasoned hunter. Beside him was a small boy who seemed to be around Tian Feng's age—the boy was his son Dajing.

Looking from afar, both of them appeared no different from a pair of beggars.

The duo was leisurely walking back to their resting place with their spoils—a lively deer and a dead rabbit.

As they were about to reach their resting place, Dabao took out the dead rabbit from a bag and spoke happily.

"Haha! Jing'er, shall we have a stewed rabbit or roasted rabbit?"

"Roasted rabbit!" Dajing responded cheerfully.

"Haha! You got it. Eh...!?"

Half of his words, Dabao abruptly stopped because he caught sight of a small kid inside a big tree trunk. In such a dangerous forest, who would leave their kid alone like this?

Furthermore, the kid was so young—almost as young as his own son. After moving a little closer, he was filled with amazement.

"This kid... is he cultivating!?"

Dabao murmured under his breath, obviously still unwilling to believe what he was seeing. Meanwhile, he was subconsciously inching closer toward the boy.

"Mortal Realm Stage One!?"

Due to the disappearance of the system, Tian Feng's cultivation speed was not as crazy as before—it also didn't cause the chaotic Qi flow in the surroundings.

As a result, Dabao, who was also a cultivator, was able to peer into his cultivation level easily.

"Dad! What are you doing here? Our place is on the other side."

With his sight obscured by the body of the deer, Dajing didn't notice the boy inside the tree trunk. All he could see was his father standing before the tree looking dumbfounded, his expression was transitioning from one to another as fast the weather.

Dabao woke up from his stupor with his son's call and recovered his composure.

"It's nothing. Let's go!"

However, after walking for a few steps, a thought suddenly crossed his mind, and Dabao became petrified.

"There is no way the kid would be here alone. Some powerful cultivators must be nearby."

Dabao wasn't entirely wrong for coming up with this conclusion. However, he failed to include the fact that the kid was wearing tattered clothes.

At this moment, he was rooted in a spot. In his mind, he was considering whether he should escape here temporarily.

He looked at his son, Dajing, and then looked back at the boy who was cultivating and eventually made a decision to leave this area for the time being.

Just as he was about to leave, a sound of grumbling stomach echoed in his ears like thunder.

"Jing'er! Is it you? Are you hungry?"

Dajing was about to deny when a soft voice came from behind them.

"It was mine."

The sound of a grumbling stomach also woke Tian Feng from his cultivation.

Dabao put on a smile and turned to look at Tian Feng before asking lightly.

"Kid! Are you here alone?"

Tian Feng was about to nod in agreement when he suddenly thought of something.

"That man was also a cultivator. Although he looked like a kind person, there's no harm in being a little more careful."

With such a thought in mind, Tian Feng answered the question in a roundabout manner.

"I came out to play with my mom, then while practicing a technique, I got lost in this forest. I'm sure she'll come to look for me right now, but I can't wait for her, I'm so hungry."

The meaning was clear to Dabao, the kid was alone yet at the same time was not alone.

Dabao was facing a dilemma, he didn't know whether he should leave or stay.

If he stayed, he might be killed for a misunderstanding. Just look at the kid's tattered clothes; if his mother saw that and thought he was the one who bullied her son, she might kill him before he got a chance to explain a single word.

Who would dare to assume that the mother of such a monster prodigy child might be weak?

Nobody! Obviously.

But if he left the kid alone, his mother might also seek revenge from him for leaving her son in hunger. A prodigy of this caliber must be highly regarded and should not be suffered the slightest grievance.

"Dad! I'm hungry..."

Dajing didn't understand his father's strange behavior today, but he was too hungry to care about that now. Thus he whined loudly.

Dabao and his son had been hunting for an entire afternoon, both of them felt tired and hungry. After seeing Tian Feng, Dabao had momentarily lost his hunger, but Dajing's weakened tone reminded him of his appetite.

"Why is he so unlucky today?" Dabao silently thought to himself. He really wanted to cry now.

The sun has almost set completely.

In any case, Tian Feng was not a threat to him. He just had to be very careful if his mother arrives later. With this resolve in mind, he beckoned the two kids to go to the opposite tree.

"Alright! Let's eat first before talking. I'll roast the rabbit now."

Dajing began to start a fire on the pile of woods smoothly as if he had done it countless times. Having been living in the jungle for a few months, even the small Dajing knew how to start a fire.

Tian Feng had wanted to offer assistance, but he didn't know where he could start. The duo was doing everything so smoothly that there was no spot for him at all.

Within several minutes, they were ready to roast the rabbit.

Soon, the fragrance of the roasted rabbit spread through the silent dark night, inducing the trio males to salivate non-stop.

"Come, kids! Let's eat!"
