Uncanny Savior

Sena was holding my arms and dragging me up a slope. I softly pulled my arms towards myself to escape her grip.

"Oh my, you are awake. Finally." she said and leaned down to get a closer look at me.

"What are you doing? What just happened?" I asked.

"You fell from the tree, bringing down a bee nest along with you. The rest, I think you can figure out yourself." she said. "Are you okay, though? How do you feel?"

"It feels as bad as it possibly could." I said. "I think my back was ripped open, and my arms itch like hell!"

"It definitely could be way worse." Sena said.

"It could be better if you didn't drag me on hard rocks." I said. "Where are we?"

"We should be above the highest tree lines now." she said. "Maybe you were right... It would be safer if we just stayed here, outside the woodland."

"I don't want to say that I told you, but..."

"But you told me." she said. "Yeah, okay, I know."

Despite barely seeing anything, we just looked at each other for a while.

"Stay here and rest for a while. I will be back in a couple minutes." she said and got up.

"Wait, hold on, where are you going?" I asked her.

"Don't worry, I will be back!" she said as she walked away, parallel to the slope.

"Sena!"

She didn't hear my last call, or perhaps she just ignored it. I was in pain, so I just kept laying where she left me.

"Huh, what is that?"

I felt something wet on my shirt. It was smelling weird. I couldn't see what it was, so there was only one way I could identify it.

I took a small sample with my right hand and hesitantly tried to taste the turbid substance. The result surprised me a little bit.

"Hmm... Honey?"

Even though it was edible, there was no way I would eat that. I spat it out, bu then, just out of curiosity, I took another sample.

"That's definitely honey... Wait."

The texture abruptly changed after a while. I coughed and spat the substance out instantly.

"Eww! This is honey... and blood."

To say the least, I had already lost my apetite for unknown substances.

"Ahh..." I started talking to myself. "Where did she go for real!?"

I got up and sat on a stone nearby to look around. I could make out where the trees were, and the stars were looking beautiful; but other than that, there was nothing much to see.

"Sena!" I shouted as loudly as I could. My voice echoed a few times, but there was no response. If it was daytime, I would go searching for her; but now, I didn't want to move from her return point.

After a few minutes, I heard something in the distance. The sound of rocks tumbling and rolling down the slope. In between, Sena's cry for help. I quickly got up and started running towards the sound, totally incautious and unaware of the rough and dangerous terrain on the mountain's side.

I paid the price of my carelessness shortly afterwards. A misplaced step sent me rolling down the slope. I stopped by hitting a large rock at the edge of an even more inclined slope. All the pain I already had was intensified. I tried getting up again, but my left leg wouldn't cooperate. I fell once again, but at least this time was much softer.

"Sena!" I yelled.

"Ender? Ender!" she shouted back from a distance.

"I can't make it there!" I shouted. "Are you alright?"

"I can't get up!" she said.

"Same here." I replied.

Just then, something interesting happened. The yellow light was lit again! But this time, instead of turning towards the town, it turned towards us, illuminating the slope a little.

"Sena!" I yelled again.

"For god's sake, I can't shout!" she said and coughed. "What?"

"Look up!" I said.

"Yes, I see." she said.

"What does that mean!?" I asked.

"Don't ask me!" she said.

The light disappeared in about half a minute. I heard a number of small rocks rolling down the slope, passing by me. I managed to reach out and catch one of those rocks. I carefully raised my hand and threw the rock towards where I thought Sena was.

Just when I heard the rock hitting the ground, Sena shouted.

"Whoa! WHAA! HELP!"

"It was me, it is okay!" I shouted.

"I almost had a heart attack, you idiot!" She was angry.

"I was just trying to understand how far you are." I said. "Maybe I can try to come over there."

"Huh? Sure, please." she said.

I started dragging myself on the ground using my arms and right leg. At safer points, I let myself slide down the slope, slowly.

"Where are you?" I asked.

"Wow, you indeed came a lot closer." Sena's voice was much closer now. "Over here!"

Suddenly, my surroundings lit up, shining bright in green.

"What the hell?" I said and looked up.

In front of me, there was a young woman holding a wand. She was carefully trying to approach me, looking very worried. I was relieved, confused and frightened at the same time. I didn't really know how I felt, or how I should have been feeling.

"Up here, give me your hand!" the woman said.

"M...M...MOM!" Sena cried her lungs out.

The woman's expression suddenly changed. She looked at Sena's direction. I did the same.

"My girl!" the woman cried. "Oh, my dear!"

"Excuse me!?" I looked back at the woman. I was more confused than I have ever been so far.

"Why did you come here?" the woman asked. I couldn't understand if she was happy or sad, but she was surprised at least as much as me.

I had accidentally let my mucles relax at that time, so I lost my grip and started sliding down the slope again. The young woman made a sudden move to come to my side and reached out to me with the bottom of her wand. I held the wand and she pulled me back up to safe position.

"Stay there, don't move." she instructed me. I nodded.

The woman carefully walked down the slope. Sena's position was enclosed by heavy rocks, so after reaching the lowest possible point, the woman tried to reach out to Sena with her wand. Unfortunately they were too far away from each other.

The woman then put her wand down and raised her hands in front of herself. She clenched her hands and opened them a few times. I was watching her curiously. She locked her eyes on Sena and took a deep breath.

Then, something unbelievable happened.
