When I woke up, I was feeling... good. Like, the very definition of good. If the concept of 'good' was something that we could sense in the physical manners, that would probably be it. It wasn't happiness or healthiness or joy or some other thing alone, it was beyond that. I was feeling like the limitations of having a physical body were removed, and I could be doing whatever I wanted to do, whenever I want. I could lift this entire mountain and place it somewhere else, or I could just fly out into the sky, leave the world and never feel the need to come back again. I felt that I was loved by anything and everything in the universe, just as I loved every single thing back. It wouldn't be wrong to say that I was feeling immortal as well. I was...
I was one with the rest of the universe. I could command it, and new stars would be formed overhead.
The feeling lasted for no more than 10 seconds, though it probably felt like a good 10 minutes to me. And I wouldn't mind living in that state for the rest of my life.
At that moment I remembered that I was laying on a bed inside the pyramid Mr. Engin had brought me to. I didn't know for how long I've been here since there was no way to keep track of the time, other than my barely functional biological clock.
As the overwhelming aura of wellness washed away and turned into something that was a more realistic state of feeling good and relaxed, I got up and sat down on the bed. Never have I felt so good in my life... Despite my relative lack of knowledge on the subject, I was sure that the last one minute I experienced could dwarf the effects of any medicine, drink, drug or sexual arousal.
Speaking of which...
"I must say... Some things now start seeming a bit suspicious." I said. "What if this is simply a drug-"
I stopped. I couldn't believe the words I was preaching.
"No, no way." I said. "A giant yet secret mountain enclave here just to do drugs? Insane! They can't even make money from this, so why bother?"
It took me a while to say anything else.
"But... What if? What if it is the drugs that make everything look like..."
No. I wouldn't believe it. I had seen the magic work, with my own eyes. Why was it so easy to deny it's existance after being offered such a clear proof?
"I need to find Sena." I said. She was the only witness of this whole thing in a similar position with me.
But first of all, I just had to get out of this pyramid to look around. As I've noticed before, the door was closed, and there was no handle or button to play around with. At least none that I could see.
"Maybe it is hidden somewhere here..." I said.
I searched the walls with my hands, carefully looking around the colorful decorative stones on them. I was hoping to find a secret panel or box, or whatever I could find, really.
After that hopeless attempt, I started looking around everything. The floor, the bed, and the oddly placed lectern with an unknown purpose, which was standing across the bed. I would at least expect a button to pop out from that thing, but I was wrong.
With my silent defeat, I sat down in the middle of the pyramid and sighed.
"Guess I will just wait now... Heh, like there is anything else I can do." I said. "And come on, off all the times he could remain silent, my so-called 'future self' chose this very time to do it!"
This was more of a request rather than a simple complaint, but it only ended up becoming the latter.
I stood up once again and walked to the door.
"Hey! Get me out!" I started shouting. There was no indication that anyone was hearing me. Yet, I continued for a while.
"Oh no, if I go on like this for any longer, I'm going to lose my voice." I said. I went back to the bed to sit on it.
"Maybe I will just wait..." I said. "Eventually someone will come here, right? Though I still wonder how one could be forgotten in here. Insane. Insane! This whole place is just insanity!" I was raising my voice unknowingly. "I am insane!"
"No, you are most definitely not." I heard a voice from outside the pyramid.
"Thank God, someone..." I said. "Can you get me out of this pyramid please?"
The door slowly opened. There was no one behind the door. Or maybe there was, but I couldn't see anyone in the unusual and threatening darkness beyond the enterance.
"Wha- what is going on?" I asked.
No one answered that. I, with some hesitation and the preparedness to jump back into the pyramid at the first sign of danger, stepped outside into the dark.
I was cold.
I was hungry. My stomach was hurting.
I crossed my arms. But my legs were cold too.
I tried to tuck the middle of my skirt between my legs and crossed my arms again. It didn't work very well, but it was just a bit better.
A door opened in front of me, temporarily blinding me as rays of bright white light rushed into the dark room. I covered my eyes with my hands.
There was a large, bearded man at the door.
"How do you feel?" he asked me, but with no emotion.
"Hungry and cold." I didn't hesitate to complain, though I didn't know how much of it the man could actually make out of my weak voice.
When my eyes got used to the light, I got a better look at the man's face. He was a bit old, but not much. He had wrinkles on his face, but he was looking rather healthy and powerful. And of course a bit scary too.
He put half a loaf of bread and some water on the ground.
"Help yourself." he said.
"Cold!" I said before he could close the door in my face.
"I will find you something. Don't you dare come outside!" he said and left the door open. I went to take the bread and water from the ground. The man came back shortly afterwards and threw a blanket into the empty room.
I looked at the blanket. The man looked at me and closed the door, blocking the only source of light I had in a while.
