When I opened my eyes back again... I was no longer a young girl. I was laying just outside the pyramid in the mountain enclave. But the feelings remained. I was sad, angry; my heart was burning with hatred towards the villagers and the desire to take revenge. Not only for what happened to poor Aya, though... Who knew, perhaps there were more victims of ignorance just like her!
I received a rather soft slap on my left cheek.
"Ow! Ouch!"
"Snap out of it." said Mr. Engin. He was poking me with his wand.
The intense left-over feelings drained away, mixing into the soil and disappearing eventually. However, even after my real state of mind took over, I started crying.
"I told you, he was not ready." I was hearing Ms. Saka.
"There is no way to prepare someone for this. No one would ever be ready." Mr. Engin said. "He wanted a backstory, and this is the only way to tell it. Words would not describe it accurately. And besides, little Aya wasn't ready for it either."
"And look what it did to he-" Ms. Saka couldn't finish.
"Maybe, for now at least, you should keep some of what you know for yourself, huh, my little daughter?" Mr. Engin interrupted. "If preparation is so required, wouldn't that be the right action?"
"I am not little." said Ms. Saka.
"Well, yes, you indeed look old for someone with your brain." Mr. Engin said.
"That's mean!" Ms. Saka said and walked away.
"How do you-" Mr. Engin was about to ask me something, but stopped. "Well, I guess I know already. Take your time."
I just nodded even though I understood only a half of it.
Before he went away, I stopped him to ask a question. "Mr. Engin!"
He turned around. "Hmm?"
"Where is Sena?"
"She is having her part of the experience, you could say." he said and smiled.
"The story?"
"No, not that of yours." he answered. "She is... She is in a position that's a bit special."
"In what way?" I asked.
"I would hate to tell you..." he said. "She was destined to come here one day, but there is no indication that you also were."
"I don't get it." I said.
"Yeah, and that's a part of it."
"I still don't... get... how?"
"I know." he said, and turned around. I wanted to keep him for a little longer.
"I still don't really get this pyramid as well!"
He turned around again and looked at me for some time before speaking.
"How did you feel when you were inside?"
I thought about it for a while.
"I'm... I was calm, relaxed, comfortable. That's... I think that's all I remember." I said.
Mr. Engin walked to come by and sit next to me.
"This pyramid has been around for longer than I am." he said. "It is... You can think of it as a powerful device that can work for many of your desires. A multipurpose device. When it is in operation, it can help heal the people inside, physically and mentally, and perhaps it is the most common use for it. But apart from that, it can help you recall faint memories, learn things quickly, build up strenght or other various things."
"How does it do that?" I asked. "Is it... pure magic or some sort of, you know, high-end technology?"
"The technology is indistinguishable from magic." he said.
"Can I operate it?" I asked.
"You did." he said.
"How? When?"
"Green light is for healing, usually." he said. "You saw it, didn't you?"
"But I didn't do anything." I said.
"Oh, but then how did it activate?" he asked.
"That's what I'm wondering." I replied.
"Because you activated it." he said.
"How!?"
"You see, it takes commands from people inside, and you were the only one there, right?" he asked.
"I mean... yes. But I didn't do anything!"
"By the time you went inside, what you needed most was healing, right?" he asked.
"Was it?"
"It was. And so you requested it." he said.
"I did?"
"Prematurely, perhaps... But you did. And the command was well enough, so it provided you with it's powers."
"Does it just know what we want from it?" I asked.
"No, not unless you ask for it." he said.
"But the point is, I didn't ask for anything!" I said.
"You did, you just don't know. You are not in control of your mind as well as, for example, I am. Once you master the techniques, you will know how to operate the pyramid, unleashing it's full potential." he said.
"So I need to be trained..."
"Exactly."
"Where do I start?"
"Slow down. We will get there." Mr. Engin said and got up.
"What else do I need to do?"
"The thing you experienced puts a lot of pressure on one, and I know you agree." he said. "Though that's not a particularly bad thing. Anyway... You just need to have peace of mind to give allocate all your power to your trainings, which could require some time."
"I don't understand." I said.
"Please, you don't need to right now." he said, and started walking away. "You made it out of hell a few moments ago. Give yourself some time."
"I saw a temple." I said. "I think I know where it is."
"You did." he said. "But unfortunately, it is no longer there."
"Why?"
"Words take a lot away from your experience. Only if we were both masters of telepathic communication, maybe that would do it." he said.
"I'm going to learn that too?" I asked.
"I don't know, are you?" he said and walked away before I could continue the conversation.
My mind was like a muddy soup of new information that connected to each other like veins on a leaf... a leaf that's cut in half and it's edges burned.
I got up and looked at the pyramid next to me. The door was open, so I curiously stepped inside. The door was closed after I got in.
"Teach me." I said. "Wait, maybe that's not specific enough... Teach me your secrets!"
I stood there for a minute, watching pretty much nothing. Nothing was happening.
"Let's try... Hmm..." I said. "I want to, err..."
A green light appeared again. I was in a state that was now familiar to me, a warm, pleasant vibration and the peace of mind.
